I was 12 when I saw this on television. I liked it so much I purchased the books that the mini-series is based on.

Wow. Jane Seymour two years before her real debut in Somewhere In Time in 1980. I was fifteen and was thoroughly convinced that she was the most beautiful woman I had ever seen. I remember like it was yesterday, sitting in the theater by myself and physically catching my breath when she came on screen.
Not only that, but she has aged so gracefully its almost uncanny.

We think life is so hard right now, these are the people that struggled so much. Good movie, true to life as it was. Thanks

I lived n Springfield, Illinois during the making of this movie. The River is the Sangamon River it flows out side of Spfg. and Sherman, Il. I was dating a young man who was one of the extra's a Native Indian. I didn't realize Elizabeth Montgomery was such a tiny women, Hal Holbrook was also very handsome. Never stand offish. The young man I dated was given the Powder horn used by HH of which I still have. I just wish I could find a copy of this Movie to show my grtgrand children grandchildren

The Conrad Richter novels were critically acclaimed and popular. The log cabins in the film were beautiful. They blended in with the forest.

My family moved to ohio during this time period. It kind puts it into perspective of what they went through. I remember my grandmother telling me we had pioneer blood and could survive anything because we were a strong people.

This is the most realistic version I've seen of the times back then. Most movies they have everyone wearing fancy clothing for back then only to appeal to the viewers.

Holy shite then sorry you need to branch out in what movies you watch. That some made for TV movie from 1978 is somehow the most realistic of the period? Supposedly?
      Yea ok LMFAO
Just showing loudly how uneducated and frankly stoooopid you are in knowing any history AND great films.

We watched the first episode. I’m not bothering with the next episodes. I don’t see what everybody saw in this movie …… too many loose ends. Nothing followed through on and I really don’t care to watch the rest of it. It wasn’t that good I can’t believe it got so many nominations.

Actually some do! I am from Western NC…many of my older relatives pronounced it that way when I was young..they also said “Flordee” for Florida..not even kidding lol…when I was very young I struggled to figure out many of the words they said due to their pronunciation..as I got older I would love to visit and hear their Appalachian slang.

    • @cynthiaconner8601

Yes people do pronounce it that way
Just like some people Miami...."My -am-ma." It's regional.
