I have never had as much fun listening to someone talk about grounded theory before. Thank you!

Sometimes you find perfect videos like this and it makes it all worth it. The internet was made for this man, not for buying illicit drugs and guns on the deep web or sharing weird memes or cyberbullying on twitter or for radicalising your grandmother on Facebook. It was meant for this man to explain the different versions of grounded theory as I am cramming for my next assignment. Thank you. I am proud to be an internetarian today.

This is a very useful starting point. What needs to be added to make the situation even more clear is that using GT is not like getting on the No 69 bus and thus being stuck with one of the 3 paths the lecturer described. Using GT is like getting on the Metro/Underground. There are as many paths as there are travellers. GT delivers the ideas that a researcher needs to address in order to construct a rigorous argument in support of his/her research activities and subsequent findings. More than anything else GT language which provides researchers with the ideas needed to deliver competent research. At the end of the day every piece of research should be as unique as every Rembrandt masterpeice. Painting by numbers is not the name of the game from an academic point of view and this has to be strongly emphasised.

This is very helpful. I have tried to make sense of all the writing on this topic. This really pulls it together. It points out the main methods, how they are similar or different at a high level view, so one can dig into each method and choose which is best for a particular research.

    Awesome lecture
meanwhile, I am still skeptical about 'the methodology' of the variant of grounded theory, some teachers believe it is some form of DATA analysis to ensure that your data gives you a THEORY THAT IS GROUNDED as an endpoint of whatever methodology you adopt
