On April 1st, 1945, the US military launched an assault on Okinawa, codenamed Operation Iceberg. More than 180,000 US soldiers were deployed on the southern coast of the island. Although Japanese resistance was initially sparse, the ensuing battle for the island would last 82 days, killing an estimated 12,000 American soldiers, more than 100,000 Japanese, and roughly 50,000 Okinawan civilians. The battle was the bloodiest of the Pacific campaign, and subsequently became nicknamed the Typhoon of Steel. On June 22 US forces seized control of the island as Japanese officers committed ritual suicide. The US would use the island from which to launch naval and air attacks on mainland Japan until the end of the war.

Thank you!
Desmond doss, dont get confused with titanic mate
@@GotchaChris131 I forgot his name and 2 I wasn’t thinking about titanic I’ve not even seen the movie
@@Fawbie_WW2 oh okay mate, thanks for the heads up
When you are a random stop motion maker and manage to made a video with Hollywood’s quality:
Amazing job. The ambience at the beginning was simply mind blowing ! And the whole quality reach the top at my eyes
As a lego purist, the clay triggers me, but as an animator, I love it and the advantages it brings. Well done!
Thank you! Yes, the clay was a tough decision for us to make, we do like the 100% LEGO aspects some other animators do, but it does drastically increase the difficulty of animating.

That's cool buddy! It would be nice to cooperate together❤

This concept of clay for terrain is something i've not seen used anywhere, looked awesome alongside the smooth animations, nice job!
Thank you very much!
Glad you put Desmond Doss in the Hacksaw Ridge scene
This has got to be some of the smoothest animation I've ever seen. Fantastic, outstanding, incredible - whatever else I'm missing - job!

Anybody talking about the water effects? Bro it looks like real water.
@@hemorrhoid1 I know! It's insane what this guy has managed to do here with a bunch of plastic toys
Dude! Great animation! Love it! And your vfx are awesome!
Thanks so much LCM! It’s an honor having you watch our films!
I've never seen the terrain entirely modeled with clay before and you get some very cool results with it
The U.S. also intended to use Okinawa as a launch pad for Operation Downfall which would have been the Allied Invasion of mainland Japan but it was canceled after the atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki and the Soviet Invasion of Manchuria on August 9th,1945 . Also love that you added Desmond Doss in there the dude is a legend.
Where is Doss mentioned?
@@LegalShield3000He's the medic that ran out to get the wounded one-legged soldier.
After a long time , its finally here, can't wait for it to start!
Never thought I'd see a Lego animation display the horror of war. The bravery of these Lego figures will not be forgotten.
Especially at moments like

And

Nice. Love the clay. And the Battleships. And the all of it.
Thanks so much, we are inspired by your films as well!
@@TwinBricks Oh wow, thanks!
An impressive piece of work. A great way to memorialize the men who gave their lives in this campaign. I also really like the desmond doss cameo.
Thanks!
Adding the clay as the ground was an awesome idea as you can shape it and make it look like bombs and shots have disturbed the ground without destroying the bricks. This was an amazing stopmotion! Amazing job!
Well done! The historical accuracy is top notch! An interesting "factoid" was that Japanese intelligence was trying to predict if the U.S. would invade Okinawa or Formosa. The Japanese settled on Formosa (Taiwan) and moved the veteran 9th Infantry Division (which had just arrived from the Kwantung Army in Manchuria) from Okinawa to Formosa. An additional 15,000 Japanese troops plus all of the artillery and machine guns that equipped them would have added to the casualty counts for both sides and probably prolonged the campaign by another month or so. Excellent video!
dude this has to be the best hacksaw ridge lego animation i’ve ever seen it’s like the movie
Man I have no words, this is a masterpiece
Man your animations are the best you got to be my new fav animation RUclipsr
I am just wow, not at all complete loss for words, but inconceivably surprised by the profound production quality and how well made this is! Truly an “honor our veterans” and the “greatest generation” moment!
I find it absolutely shocking that the Japanese officers that they would throw their lives away through a ridiculous ritual suicide instead of living to see another day. The Japanese were definitely absolutely brutal but their efforts were absolutely futile to break us. God bless our American heroes of WW2 for fighting for us and keeping an Axis enemy from our shores!
Japanese soldiers had guts to charge at armed American soldiers with just a katana even though victory that way is mostly hopeless. Respect.
An amazing and unique animation! Well done
phoenix stopmotions you’re are fired for not do lego ww2 dunkirk
77 years yesterday. Salute to the vets of the 77th infantry including Desmond Doss. And peace to the people of Okinawa who were caught between the armies

I like how you made the naval guys wear the police officer uniform from Lego city and on top of that the stop motion itself was incredible and the voices were of the chart!
Love the short cameo of Former Pvt. Desmond Doss, the unmarked medic who saved more than 70 men in that battle
The animation is top smooth, and the movements of the figures are very vibrant and full of expression. Very nice animation.
Jsem rád že jsi tam použil i toho japonského snipera
I love how this is historical accurate, even more than some movies 😅
Fantastic to see Desmond Doss in this, an incredible human being.
Love the Desmond doss reference when you got to the hacksaw ridge part
Extra quality! I love this movie.
Water, fire and smoke are also realistically expressd.
This was amazing, the animation was so seamless I can’t imagine how long that took. I loved the little nod to Desmond doss during the hacksaw ridge part

What a masterpiece! I especially love how the music perfectly fits the story, which is quite difficult to achieve. The animation and camera work are basically flawless. Amazing work!
Thank you so much! We new when we wanted to make our film, we wanted music that would fit the emotions well. Check out the composer that produced the soundtrack for us here: ruclips.net/user/playlist?app=desktop&list=PLXbS4x274K1dkR2M2nA0JkBHQPeaI24M3

love the smooth animation! Love how your able to use the clay to your advantages, the way you can mold the terrain is awesome. Great how you keep in mind the physics of objects, like how they will have a slight bounce when you drop them. Keep making more films!
Thank you very much! We will try our best to continue to produce new films!
Best Okinawa Lego movie I’ve ever seen 😊
