I've been waiting for someone to do this comparison, Both Grand Theft Auto IV and Red Dead Redemption have the same physics engine (RAGE). Plus both games have 2-3 year gap, so they are probably the only Rockstar games to have amazing physics.

I guess it's more like how in action movies, actors will react dramatically to being shot and will take advantage of their surroundings while doing so. Afterall, GTA is meant to be a parody/videogame depiction of both real life and action movies the team may have watched/observed as a source material.

alright guys, now that rdr1 is on pc. Should i buy that for 50 bucks (undead nightmare also included) or should i buy gta 4 for 20 bucks (lost and damned, ballard of gay tony also included)?
Eh, no. In Gta 4, ragdoll/physics are much smoother and fluid. You will notice this very clearly when you shoot NPCs. Additionally, NPCs will attempt to remain balanced in real time while in ragdoll/physics state. In Rdr1, ragdoll/physics are stiffer. It's not very fluid. And NPCs don't try to stay balanced in a ragdoll/physics state. But headshots are a lot of fun in this game.
@@Bugmultiverse Either you misunderstood my comment or you didn't read it completely. Gta 4 has real-time balancing physics. And, unlike Rdr1, it is very easy to trigger the Euphoria physics in Gta 4. When you touch an NPC with a car, when you walk to the NPC, or when you shot it with a gun, it immediately switches to real-time balacing physics/ragdoll state. In Rdr1, they "downgraded" all of this a little bit. In Rdr1, when you walk to the NPC, it doesn't immediately go into ragdoll/physics state. Or when we touch the NPC with the horse, it doesn't immediately go into ragdoll/physics state. If you touch/walk to NPCs for a little too long, they will just go into ragdoll/physics state. But NPCs won't try to stay balanced too much. They will fall to the ground as if they have just forgotten how to walk. The same goes for shooting NPCs with a gun. (They will die immediately from the chest area, arm and hand anyway) But even if they don't die, they will throw themselves to the ground. As you can see, the "immediately switching to smart ragdoll/physics state and staying in real-time balance" thing in Gta 4 has been removed in Rdr1. But of course, Rdr1's Euphoria physics are still good. Much better than Gta 5 and Rdr2's Euphoria.
@@MinecraftvsBurnoutBut that thing in GTA IV was not realistic. Everything In this game it's exaggerated, the game's NPCs don't have a human skeleton, they look extremely soft. Even when you bump into them, they don't react in a realistic way (either bodily speaking, or in a rational way). In real life, when a person is bumped, they are not taken as a role, without fighting back and Stare at the person who bumped you. In a shootout, you don't go soft when you get shot in the leg, in a sudden way. About an NPC getting shot in the chest and arms, and dying immediately, show me a video proving what you're saying. The chest is a very vital part during combat, it is no wonder that the bulletproof vest is on the chest as well. But anyway, the ragdoll in GTA IV is exaggerated, everything in this game is exaggerated!
@@Lo0pingGG Man, if NPCs in Gta 4 didn't have skeletons, they wouldn't be trying to stay balanced in real time. So they would immediately fall to the ground like jelly/liquid. In this game, the NPCs are in a ragdoll state while the NPCs will try to stay balanced as long as they can (like a real person would). And they will do it in real time. Of course, if there is a slope, obstacle, etc. where they step, they will either be more successful in balancing or they will fall. When you walk towards/gentle push the NPC, the NPC will try to stay balanced and start walking in the direction you pushed it. (Yes in this case, the NPC will act a bit weird/drunk) However, when you slowly push the NPCs with the car, they will try to protect themselves and their balance. Thanks to the real-time and smart ragdoll system (Euphoria). This ragdoll/physics always gives unpredictable results. If you shoot the NPC in the leg, you will see it stumble, bending slightly and holding its leg with its hands. (different each time) Sometimes they will also fall to the ground. Of course, if you shoot the NPC in both legs, it will fall to the ground. (That NPC shouldn't be able to get up after this, but that's the mechanics of the game completely, not the ragdoll) There is no exaggeration, except that sometimes NPCs appear to be too drunk when in a ragdoll state. (And of course bike accidents are exaggerated) This is the most complex and advanced ragdoll/physics yet. Even in new generation games the physics are not close to this. Coming back to the Rdr1 topic, a person named "Sly" makes Rdr1 compilations. But in his videos, he always shoots NPCs either in the head or in the chest. I can say okay with the part where NPCs die directly from the chest. There are vital organs such as the heart. As I said before, it is partly annoying when they die directly from the shoulder or arm. That is, they even die from hands (rarely). But if you want real and understandable proof, I recommend you play the game. The game itself will help you understand or see.
