Can you make a polymer clay Oreo kind of like a BFF charm? You know, it looks like a real Oreo, but when you open it up, to has a heart! My sis requested this. CoolRiceBunnies has a tutorial on an Oreo mold. PaperPastels has a BFF charm tutorial if you don't get what I mean. ^^

I buy my needle felting materials from daiso a $1.50 japanese store and they come in kits of wool so for wool it's pretty cheap!

where did you get the eyes for the characters?
i made them myself ^^ i used polymer clay and superglue them onto an eyelet that I bent into shape

those aren't well felted at all. :/ they shouldn't be squishy like that. Otherwise, they'll fall apart.

When should you and should you not use a felting pencil?
I believe you meant felting pen, and you can use it when felting larger, less defined shapes. You use a singular needle when making details, small and weirdly shaped objects, and facial expressions. But, you could use a single needle for everything, it will just take a bit longer when making bigger shapes.
What's a good way to get old wool off the sponge you stab in? I keep getting blue strings (fx) on my yellow wool. It's really annoying as I sell my needle felt creations
You can kind of make big pinches on the surface of the mat and most should be easaly removed that way

needles do tend to break,, ive had mine break a few times. it usually happens because the needle is old or bent.
Did you poke it in too far and then bent it? That's the common reason that needles break. They are very fragile! Do you poke vertically?

A needle is actually very delicate if you poke in a certain way, if you get another one I would advise not to poke it diagonally and don't poke it too deep! Yesterday was the first time my needle broke because I poked it too deep! .... Stupid macaron....

Is there a way to make this without felt (for vegans / animal rights activists)? :)
I felt with Poly-Fil, like the stuffing for plushies. I usually use it for a base layer/core and put wool on top, but it firms up similarly to wool. With the stuffing though, no matter how much you felt it, you'll never get it as smooth as wool, it'll always be "hairy". You can trim the wisps that stick out, but overall I've found that using just the stuffing to make things makes it look...artificial? If you know what I mean. Also, I've only ever seen white polyfil, so color might be a problem. I'm sure if you look deeply enough online, you'll be able to find vegan friendly wool and/or other alternatives. Hope that helps a bit!

Yes, the end of the needle is hooked unlike other needles. If you don't use the felting needle it just won't be the same.
Why do you need a sponge or a felting mat, like what is it suppose to do?
It stops your surface from getting scratched. :)

do you have to use felting wool, can it be regular wool?
You actually can use real wool, but it won't look as neat and clean as real wool is much more wispy than felting wool.

Yes but all you have to do is once you are at the store buy a whole lot of wool so you don't have to make a second trip
