- War Thunder devs have been adding a lot of ratty light tanks as of late, but not all of them are good. The German Luchs A2 is supposed to be similar to the XM800T or Wiesel, but is a lot slower, weakly armored, and massive.

@nicktasteless360 when I play the Tam it seems like the enemy team can't hear me or something. Since it has a rear mounted turret it's also great at reversing out of cover and going back in quickly

You really have to play this tank, its the FV4202. A british medium tank that is very modern looking because it's actually an early protoype of the Chieftain. It has a 20pdr gun and its quite fun (day 53)

I think Gaijin just do coin flips on whether an IFV/Recon with an autocannon gets to be a ~7.0 light tank or ~5.0 SPAA, just like how they initially was going to put BTR-80A on 5.3(?) as an SPAA.
Germany has like, a billion vehicles at that B.R. range with a 20mm cannon. It's beyond me why Gaijin decided to add another, let alone WORSE, 20mm-armed platform. At the same B.R., no less. Surely there were other vehicles that could've been added, for B.R. ranges and tech trees that needed them.
It is an iconic tank, among soldiers it is famed for its astonishing quietness. That might be a reason.

The upsides it has over the other 20mm gremlins at 7.3-7.7 is apds over the marder and more ammo than the wiesel which is kinda sad tbh lol
It shares the br with the btr 80 and im not quite sure which is worse, btr has 82 pen (can pen american tanks in the side) but way less ammo, way worse rof (its not even good as spaa), worse flexibility (5° of gun depression, half the turret traverse speed a third of the gun elevation speed) and its also slower

I think a part of why it's at such a high BR is because Gaijin is terrified of accidentally doing the same thing as with the Fox, it was crazy at 7.0 and honestly it's still really good at 7.7

Attempt 10 at asking Spookston to play any latewar German tank but without Parts, FPE, limited ammo and limited fuel (amount determined by a timer), and the lowest level crew you have to simulate the latewar german experience.

Interesting vehicle, but absolutly not best truck ever made. There are so many others way better, like the DB L 4500A, which also had a bunch of guns, be it 5 cm Flak 41 L/61, 3,7 cm Flak 36 L/57, 2 cm Flakvierling 38 L/65 or some other field mods.

That might actually be a regular pitched marine sound.
The elite voice clips in Halo CE were mostly just pitch shifted marine lines played backwards.

You should play the ASU-85. I can assure you that it has been designed and constructed with the utmost care, providing the user with a truly unique experience while wielding it's powerful cannon.
Probably the worst TD ingame if you consider the trade offs for the cannon (should be 5.7 btw)
And then there is direct upgrade (Su-122-54). It cannot be airdropped, however.

If you also want another horrendous IFV, look at one of Japan's first Toyotas: the Type 87 RCV (P). It has great speed, and that's where the benefits end. Plus it too has a 20mm autocannon that has a max 65mm pen at 7.7 with no line-up to its name.
If you look a little higher at 8.0, there's a very funny lineup with three R2Y2s in it, and the 87(p) is the star ground vehicle of the show. But otherwise I do agree, it's a pretty painful vehicle all things considered.
That said, the production type 87 sitting at 9.0 feels significantly worse imo; the 25mm darts are *nice* but you sacrifice the stabilizer and even more mobility, and trying to play peekaboo and perform ambushes with a large wheeled vehicle made of paper with no reverse speed and a turning radius of jupiter just feels like way too much effort to be worth it.
The biggest issue with Luchs is that it's a light tank, not a SPAA. *One* thing it's better than Wiesel at is shooting at planes cause of gun elevation angles, and that's underminded by lack of access to ammo box.
A tank that can be a rat but be better in every way is the Type 87 SPAAG

Same. Literally grinded it as it was beign added to not grind another pointless vehicle that i dont want or need in future (its literally downgraded Weasel/Marder).

You know what is fun? The 75/34 M43 Italian tank destroyer. And no, I’m not talking about the 4.7 M43 that you’ve already played, I’m talking about a 3.3 M43, which still has 100mm of frontal armour.
That 20mm is just so anaemic, it's a pain in the ass on the Marders but at least those have MILANs
realistically Luchs was supposed to have a MILAN attached to it but Gaijin has amnesia as per usual
since you said the ratel 90 wasn't bad, you should play the objectively awful ratel version; the ratel 20. it has the same bad mobility as the 90, but with the same weapons as the marder IFV, which doesn't sound bad at first, until you realise you're expected to fight king tigers and jumbo pershings with 7 ATGMs that do barely any damage and reload slowly, and an autocannon that can't even pen a panther's side (day 47)

Also there is a lot of rare tanks lately. I met few E-100`s and even one IS-7, despite not seeing one in years.

In Germany the Luchs is well known for scaring recruits, because it can approach witchout almost any noise.

Tzz...this thing was designed as a scout. Ever heard one irl? This thing is so quiet, it could sneak up on you and APPARENTLY, that's what Luchs-crews did, to poke fun at their comrades, during night exercises.
HOWEVER, it is also meant to GTFO at the first sign of trouble. The gun is just for defense, but not offense.
That's why it has two drivers, one at the back, and the back wheels can turn, to help it steer. Its reverse is also pretty insane to help it fuck off.
This thing was NOT designed for active combat. No wonder it is painful in that role, so...in a way...Gaijin nailed the design on this one.
Fun fact, you can get stranded in the Luchs if two crew die. It will replace both turret crewmembers with the drivers, and then you're stuck. It has happened to me multiple times. Screenshots and bugreports submitted.

There is the setup issue with BRs. This thing would do much worse if you'll move it too far down as there are more properly armored vehicles down there. It's the same issue as with how Gaijin kept moving P-108A down and its situation was becoming only worse from it as targets were becoming smaller, lighter, faster and autocannons more rapid. Or how FV4004(or was it 5) would be absolute food at lower BRs. Tl;dr it's about setups, not "number bigger bad", that's mentality of soviet/german mains 😅
You should try the AMX 10P its a french ifv hided in AA, its classified as one but it actually has scouting and APDS

The luchs is called wishpering in the night. Back then you were not allowed to sleep on the ground when we trained with it. It had a high chance to roll over somebody. You didnt hear it. Your tactics are hide and scout and attack for defense
That's horrible, but against an enemy that could be quite the advantage.

Day 180 You should play a tank with hydropneumatic suspension (recommend the MBT-70) But the catch is you have to drop the suspension as low as it can go for the whole match.
Of all the games I've played with the Weisel and the Luchs, The Weisel is definitely a light tank, but the Luchs was more like a wheeled AA because you couldn't rat in it like the weisel
This is also the Type 87 RCV(P) experience. It's the same gun as the Wiesel, but larger, and your pen tops out at around 65mm at point blank, with shells that shatter at 7.7. And with Japan's limited lineup, you'll most likely be using this thing all the way through the BR 8 grind, which means you have to deal with Foxes and XM800s, both of which are generally better than you.
Between the video intro, the zombie sound effects, i’m starting to think Spooks is a cod zombies fan. If so, mad respect!

Either reroll before every match or just do it once, your choice.
