All of the focuses should be 35 days they are just too weak to even make a difference.
Incredible how an African country industrializes in a few months. Nah, I'm just kidding, I can understand completing all that part of the tree as part of one entire process, and that you already spend plenty of time in the political section.
When's that coming out? Kind of waiting for another proper patch to get back to HOI4

I really enjoy these videos because it makes me realize how awful I am at this game. Like watching him come back as Free France and me not being able to get through Belgium with Germany is great for the ego.
Playing this now. Not sure what PDX chanced but all of Britains colonies, weven with supporting resistance, are capped at about 45-55% resistance. They have some military governor buff? Struggled through everything and it was pointless as I can't make anyone revolt and USA is already allied with Britain so I can't invade anything.

Yeah I think Paradox patched that. You can steal British Somaliland still, but they annex every rebellion they put down

There is a video by feedback gaming which analyses all the spirits of the academy and rates them. So it turns out that when you pick planning and logistics, there is a 50% chance of your general levelling up on planning AND logistics (thats 2 stats as opposed to 1). And lets not forget how important logistics are now

The faster you get Scavenging Tactics, the faster you stabilize your units' strength. Focus on movement, recovery rate, and supply consumption, then you have officially turned the Ethiopian highlands into the Isonzo river.
Also you can grind adaptable within the first 3-6 months if you swap your generals around, i.e. desert guy in the mountains, mountain guy in the desert. Worth using the ones who will get the scavenger upgrade from your focus tree too :)
The resistance mechanic has been changed? When the UK is at war that maximum resistance the regions reach is 55% now
No matter what, I can't wait to be king
Personally I quite like to have all my divisions in 1 army under the desert fox, as you can grind his mountaineer up really quick to get adaptable, and also if you quickly train up and force deploy 3 more fictions you can start working on skilled staffer, which gets you logi wizard high command which really helps in Africa.
I think the chitet are probably better due to all the bonuses you can get for them and they don't cost much supply, which you barely have in Africa.
I found that if in the balance of power, you give your all your ethnic groups independence, they will then build factories and then you can re-annex them later on using decisions unlocked after doing a focus (I can't remember which one.). This will give you more factories overall, but I think you have to beat Italy so your nation doesn't lose existence when collapsing.

Tried the guide and I realised why no one is making demands in the peace conference, passing turns doesn’t give war score anymore and no one has enough in the initial turn to puppet or annex anything, so it ends in a white peace
I think this might have been fixed. I cant seem to get white peace in my attempts
I haven’t tested anything out yet, but you could also probably just try to get a non-historical game where the UK goes communist and so they decolonize allowing you to just take the former colonies

Tanzania is a union between Zanzibar and Tanganyika, actually. So you're wrong there, individual territories still retain their names to this day. And will keep doing so if the east African federation project succeeds
Great video but there are two more cheesey things you can add to this strategy since I did 95% of the same to beat Italy.
First cheese, you need 20 PP and you can improve relations with Mongolia and Tannu Tuva, this is so you can ask them for lend-lease. It may take a month or two before they will agree to send you anything. But when they finally do wait until the guns are almost delivered and pause the game. Before the guns are added to your stockpile bump any units that you are training to highest priority to get equipment so they can get enough guns to reach 20% training level to force deploy them. Once you receive the guns go back into diplomacy with those two countries and cancel lend lease and then ask for more guns- ONCE THE UNIT IN TRAINING GETS THE GUNS DO NOT FORGET TO SET THE PRIORITY TO REINFORCEMENT. You can do this for about a year or so before apparently they will stop building a stockpile of guns because their army will be equipped. Later on in the game once the Spanish civil war is over you can ask guns from Germany and Russia since they will no longer be sending aid to the Spanish Civil war. There are pros and cons to this, if your soldiers end up being too well equipped above 70% fighting strength the Italians will stop attacking this is bad because they will stop burning equipment in attacks and will be able to build up morale making offensives a little tougher.
Second cheese, after you complete Hold in the North and South you can purposefully let the Italian army border your province of Shewa I actually lost Dessie on one of my attempts and found that you can initiate another war escalation. I only recommend doing this one once you have 18+ infantry in the north because you will have to hold a longer border against the Italian army. If you can manage to hold Shewa province for 190 days you will hasten the war escalation by one step which can be be used to time your offensive sooner because mass desertions will happen a little sooner than anticipated.
I’ve recently learned that defense skill on a general modifies breakthrough so it might be worth considering

I have learned that I have to do the newest achievements guides you post, since some of the old guides don't work anymore, they either modify the AI to be smarter or include new mechanics to invalidate some of the cheese

Honestly I failed the resistance on a lot of it and didn't get the option to give guns again, BUT I managed to go to war with uk by joining an "ally" of one of the nations I freed in a different region and initially it's extremely easy to take the land neeeded for achievement. so don't let failing one make you give up the run.

Okay having tried this out, this is the stumbling block I personally had, and might be worth warning people about.
When Kenya flipped Independent... the UK was entirely unable to put down the revolt in Kenya. Their capital ended up on that mountain port province of Mombasa. The UK troops were well out of supply and they decided to just poke at the Kenyans (with 3 Infantry divisions fully equipped and full morale) with just one division at a time. It ended up in an eternal stalemate of the UK being completely unable to push the final victory point they needed, and the Kenyans understandably being unable to push out the about 11 (admittedly out of supply but fully equipped) British units surrounding them.
Bit of a flub there for me. Not sure if it was just bad luck or when I timed it so the UK was unable/unwilling to actually do something about it, or if I need to join the Allies merely so I can build the supply hub there for them or what.
Italy gets some serious cheats in this area... 2 division with no org or supplies, and boom pushes out my 5 defenders... and once it breaks its restart time...
Oh and britain annexes kenya every time... so what mods are you running to somehow make this a sure thing. GD youtubers and thier BS lies.

You can progeny aussa capping. Keep the city to the left of it, it’s one province in from the Italian frontline , massaca or smth; put 2 Inf 2 mountaineers on the left mountain tile they’ll never push it, put the rest of your inf and one militia on the city, but don’t have more than 6 on the tile. Any extra you keep on the province behind it and cycle one in every time you see someone retreating. Do NOT use a front line. The rest of your militia 9 of them send to the south and use three tiles like bitter does. Get the extra unit asap and send it south. Keep an eye on the south but it will generally hold. You will have to micro the north until you get your volunteers (guns focus) and then hold. Train one or two more militia for the south but otherwise you don’t need more units. Italy will not be able to push at all. Use your most defensive general for the north and hill fighter for the south.
If you're concerned about supply consumption it's likely better to take GBP over Mass Assault. If you go down the left side of Mass Assault sure, you can get a total of 20% supply consumption reduction once you're deep into the tree (which you won't be as Ethiopia for a long time), but it has very few other bonuses for a nation like Ethiopia. Grand Battleplan has 15% (5% of which you can get immediately with the army spirit), and soft attack, breakthrough, defense, command power gain... I dunno, seems like a no-brainer to me.
Not to mention, GPB gets you Tip of the Spear to invade Yemen without researching Transports (which will take a good while longer due to Ethiopia’s research malus) if you are going for Askum and the Solomons.
@@CarvaxIV Oh wow, you're right! I know that spirit increases marine transport cap, but I didn't think it'd allow you to invade without research the transport tech. That's super clever.

The last part of the focus is broken no matter the ideology you go.
When you make an uprising, if you are at war with a colonial nation when the colony is create it start a war against you and it join his colonial power.
In my game, I start 20 uprising and I had to deal with 20 new enemies and I couldn't make a faction and unite Africa.
Hi @Bitt3rSteel and fellow players, this still works but you have to go for the 'Towards african unity' focus to unlock decisions that will force the colonial power in question to white peace the african nations and have them join your faction. It costs 100pp per country and seems to be a bit random, id say like 40% chance of just saying no. if they do say no, youll get a choice to join their war and they join your faction or taking a 5% stab hit and leaving them to it.
Id also be conscious that if you prepare resistance, you do have a limited time to send the guns as the decision will expire so the first 1 or 2 nations you may have to just hope they dont capitulate before you get the unity focus. They likely wont but i would recommend going straight for the african unity focus straight after 'support Anti-colonialist resistance' focus. You do need to be a bit lucky with RNG to get uganda and kenya to white peace as you can then kick them from faction and eat them.

You didn't kise the first time, it was just a planned retreat to reorganize
I have to admit I was really curious about the rebellion plan and if you were going to go for it when this started. Mostly because I found them... incredibly frustrating and near useless. Because the game starts with the UK having 100% compliance in the areas. And the lowest you get by those decisions/actions is like 60 Compliance. Which is still too high to realistically foster any sort of rebellion. Which was clearly just a failure on my part on timing it and realizing what I needed to properly do.
The only one I got to flip myself was Djibouti because the Vichy/Free France swap over meant it reset to zero compliance and decided to rebel and join me.
You have to send guns to them at the right moment. If rebellion is over 60, sending guns adds another 30 and it instantly starts an uprising. However, if you start a rebellion and then buy the land from the France, the rebellion debuf is still on and this land can uprise against youm
Yeah I found it out since then but it can require some tight timing for the bigger would be break away nations like Egypt. Like you have to do Egypt just perfectly timed to get everything up to the right threshold to revolt or one state will be just too stable to break away.
Same issue the Polish have with the Warsaw Uprising event. It was hard to get all of Poland in a proper state of resistance to trigger it because it couldn't JUST be Warsaw, it had to be all of occupied Poland.
I wonder if someone has done all of the research required to figure out if The Lion King could have taken place in Ethiopia. Like, if all the animals in that movie are native to the nation, if the general geography and stuff matches.
I'm sure they have, people are crazy when they have free time and hobbies.
Have you tried using the war participation mechanic using fuel?
1° I would like you to make a guide for "Bad Romance" on BBA.
2° I discovered that you can catch Dijubti simply by improving relations with France.
3° I think you can get Lion King and Crusaders Kings 4 in the same play
4° For the Lion King it is not necessary the regions to the northeast of Ethiopia, simply the regions to the south that are part of the United Kingdom. So Djibouti and the other region is optional.

Actualy you can get the achievement (CK4) super easily by just taking the train the UK and capitulating.
Then you have a focus to ask them kindly for Palestine.
Once your country is liberated from Italians, just click on the décision to move you capital to Jerusalem and you're good.

I think the new mechanics with Italy leave them weaker or at least make it take longer for the AI to ramp up, which means more of the fighting is left to Germany. AI Germany simply can't produce enough planes, tanks and infantry equipment to hold out for very long, so if they get bogged down someplace it really messes them up.
13:36 the 10% bonus only effects irregulars, so the logistics and planning would be the better choice for long game, since you were getting rid of the irregulars anyway
When I did this, it worked fine up until the African independence wars. I don't know how you got them to white peace, when I did it, Britain just annexed them.

@@Bitt3rSteel you can still get the achievement, even with the new patch. Its not that hard to occupy the territories
@@stevenkravitz6377 no, but it essentially sets you up for a failed run after you blitz the territory. You'll get the achievement, but you can't actually win the war

So I got as far as annexing Somalia and Aussa but Kenya refuses to revolt no matter what i do. Luckily the Lion King achievement doesn't need you to be at peace so if this happens just declare war and take it.

Despite PDX changed the white peace events, you can do the achievement as described. Just do the transafrican focus first, then free the states via the anticolonial mechanics and you will get a decision to ask the former colonialist-state to confirm the independence. If confirmed ( much RNG involved), the new state will be independent in your faction. Kick it from your faction, declare war and annex it. Of not confirmed, you can go to war to help or do nothing and loose some war support. Not perfect, but doable.

Question, how did you manage to hire more units as you fought? Since I am also playing as Ethiopia currently, also went with Emperor Stays path, and I could not make any extra units save those I got from focusses, like the Arab and Congolese mercenaries. I also could not lend lease from the Brits or Turks ( tried to befriend them) because it said world tension was not high enough. I eventually managed to drive out the Italians, but now im kinda stuck wondering what to do next, with practically non-existant factories, at peace with everyone, its currently 1939, so on tech im also quite behind due to the corrupt bureaucracy. Any tips to this HoI4 noob would be welcome :D
The Kenya revolution didn't work despite it being 90%+ and Tanzania got ate by the UK again. I just had to build up and wait for the Allies and Soviets to go to war in like 1946 and with 5 full armies I pushed out against the weak border and B-lined for the Kenya/Tanzania areas!
They just changed alot of Ethiopia focuses to 35 days and changed some of their requirements in the upcoming patch
Can u do a Macedonian empire video again. I think the guide needs to be changed because of the addition of supply hubs and railways
I tried this but the UK refused to give up Somali land and I wasn't about to declare war on them. Also yemen screwed me when I tried naval invading and they had like 20 divs.

I still support a re-work of that the Ethiopians should have an option to buy the land from the allies say in return for a War Declaration event on the European Axis powers. Ethiopia is still too weak to fight the Allies without the use of Cheese tactics. Dont get me wrong I love me some cheese but it is not the style everyone wants to play as and if they want people to play Ethiopia more then i think that should be implemented. it is good to see though that they are fixing the 70 days to 35 days for the industry but I still think more is needed to be done
the UK no longer leaves Tanzania and Kenya alone after they capitulate, so you'll need to take them in before they are conquered
today when I wanted to do this achievement, instead of leaving Kenya and Tanzania free, Great Britain annexed them after defeating them, so the method in this video no longer works ;(
@@dorerok I couldn't even make the Kenyans and Tanzanians revolt. The resistance level was stuck at 84%
@@TK-ye1uqif you haven’t done this one yet, you have to run spy missions to increase resistance in each of the 4 Kenyan provinces and the 1 Tanzania province.
Tried this and got clapped without the guide. Time to try again.

It would comprise of: The Soviet Union, The Baltics, the Warsaw pact (East Germany, Poland, Czechoslovakia, Hungary, Yugoslavia, Albania, Bulgaria, Romania), Finland (All of it), Turkey, Greece, Syria, Iraq, British Levant (Modern day Lebanon, Israel, Palestine, Jordan, Kuwait, and Egypt), Cyprus, Malta, Italian Libya (If you want), Iran, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Mongolia, All of China (Including Menguko and Manchukuo), Japan, Taiwan, and French Indochina. So yeah, I know it is a lot, but I think it would be really cool. Thank you for reading. Have a good day.

As a heads up, the Allies will not always white peace your colonial uprisings, though the chances seem pretty high. For me, they changed the government in a single province in Kenya to democratic, but left the rest non-aligned. Fortunately it doesn't matter for The Lion King because at that point Ethiopia hasn't generated any world tension, so you can still get *one* free democratic nation, but if they were to change government on *both* you probably have to reset and redo the entire Italo-Ethiopian war again.
Also, it means that if you intend to go for "This time for Africa" you have to have a much, much better plan. They cut Sudan into pieces in my game after the war, making a democratic east/west Sudan and a non-aligned central Sudan. So for repeated use and multi-state nations, this strat is unreliable. *however*, this does put you in an excellent position to get Crusader King IV if you followed the strategy all the way. It was pretty easy to just finish the military tree, build a couple dozen infantry blocks and push all the way to Jerusalem thanks to Ethiopia's absolutely insane army bonuses and the horrible supplies in Africa bricking the American tank divisions for me. Take the Solomanic empire focus and you're golden...right? Of course, in classic Paradox fashion there is no way to actually relocate your capital...that would be too easy. Join the Axis or the GEACPS, whichever invites you first. Pull all your troops up to Israel and just hold the borders on the state with as many as you can. Abandon your home country and wait for Britain to take all of your other cores. They'll capitulate you, but if you joined a faction you shouldn't game-over. Eventually, the game will run out of other places to put your capital and will finally move it to the last state you control, giving you the achievement.

I finally finished this nation got all ach. But its just not fun the focuses are so bad. Take to long and you just sit there doing nothing for like 2 years. Side note if you hold Macalle Italy wont annex Aussa. Good luck to the rest of the ach hunters!
In my one/last run UK for some reason instead of signing white peace decided to anex Kenya. And besides that I tried to integrate Somali Sultanate via these decisions but instead they became my puppet because "they wanted to have some autonomy" (So i can't form Horn of Africa). I guess you need to improve relations with them to be sure... Or there is inevitable random... Again...
I think that it would be much better if instead of puppet you get war goal on them.
Bitt3rSteel could you try a communist portugal with workers of iberia and popular front video, i really struggling achieving it :)
Note: you can integrate Somaliland and Djibouti with the decision to form the horn of africa instead of invading them.
Did anyone ever get a strike as long as Selassie/non-aligned is in charge? The moment I switch to communism for example I can already smell the strikes even if I have 49% stability, but as non-aligned I haven't seen a single strike in 10+ successful attempts where almost all of them finished 1938 or later.
Hey Bitt3rSteel, please try uniting arabia again, with whichever nation you like. The Iraq video seems very hard to reproduce (tried 11 times so far).
I did it last month as the UK, I went unaligned (get your king to marry the divorcee), as soon as he takes control, naval invade France, and then buddy up with Germany, after that you kind get a free reign to do what you want, which in my case was to conquer Arabia
French somalia did join the axis for some reason
