I agree... the nuances of speech that Christians use , 'Accept Jesus into your Heart', 'Commit your life to Christ '... have been around for a long time. Back in the 70s, more preaching got much deeper in the Bible and theology was taught more, that when after such nuances were used, I never discerned too much of a problem. Since the 1980s , when doctrine became unpopular in many churches, the nuances continued.
believers who say that all we need is to have and feel a personal, intimate, relationship with God forget that the devil knows God more than they do. He uses doctrines that takes Christians away from rightly dividing the Word of Truth and make them believe that they are in the right path, claiming promises not made for them , and eventually get disappointed with God not hearing them, quenching their spirits, and that makes them leave the faith.
Finally! In all those evangelical college groups and churches, I never felt comfortable with this concept. I figured it was just because I was probably on the autism spectrum and was just one of those difficult people who wasn't going to get it. Then there was the "do you have Christ in your heart, or in your head?" That always got a blank stare from me.
I don’t think many people understand what Justin is trying to teach in this video. There are many Christians today who place their faith in their relationship they have with Christ, instead of placing their faith in what Christ has done for them at the cross. Like if someone was to pass away many Christians would say “I wonder if that person had a relationship with Jesus”. Instead of saying something biblical like “I hope that person had put their faith in Jesus for the forgiveness of their sins”. Justin doesn’t focus on emotions and feelings of our flesh, he cares about what the Bible has to say. Grace and peace to you all.
Yes, the only objective way God speaks to us today is through a rightly divided King James Bible. Paul is supposed to be our pattern (I Timothy 1:16), not David.
I love your teachings brother Justin, however, I think you may have gone a bit too far here. God is Love. We are His children. He calls us to know him, yes, but He also calls us to love him. How can we love someone without it being a personal relationship? The doctrine of the Trinity is not spelled out exactly in the Bible, but it's still true. Just because the exact words regarding having a personal relationship with Jesus isn't in the Bible, doesn't mean we can't infer it from the text. I guess my question is, what could be wrong with having a personal relationship with Jesus? Why would you feel the need to preach an entire sermon warning is against doing this? I could be wrong, so I'm open to your answer.
Go live on an island by yourself with only your bible...it gets real personal... it won't be about doctrine then. I don't think this guy gets it. He probably has adoring parents, spouse and children, etc. and therefore does not crave that personal relationship that is there for the losers, failures, and lonely people that have been thrown away by the world
this is evidence you can rightly divide so much that to you become a passion less robot. I don't think God would enjoy that and I don't think David and the psalms are evidence of that. David had a personal relationship with God and it was passionate and full of heartfelt feeling. David had no use for doctrine and dividing words. He knew the law and he had a personal relationship with God. You can have your cake and eat it with God through Jesus Christ. Praise God! Hallelujah! I feel sorry for this pastor. He truly is afraid of his feelings. There is an emotional response to what God has done for us. He made us that way and enjoys our feelings of gratitude and love for Him.
@@acrawford7330 I've listened to far too much of him. You need discernment. He doesn't get it right all of the time but you could never tell him or his groupies that
I disagree with your definition of relationship. To have s relationship is to know of him and that is by the word of God. They that love him love his word. So saying relationships with Christ is not biblical is wrong. Emotions we have is not are assurance with God but its part our DNA or a gift from God to experience in this life with God. There alot what you say make sense but this I totally disagree. I know we don't deal with God with are emotion but by the word of God. God Bless
As much as I respect this man, I don't see his position as 100% correct. Through much of his speaking I don't see actual fact or evidence. With all do respect, Now I am just trying to understand. But even Paul calls us children of God, Romans, Corinthians and Galatians. We learn God's will, We learn characteristics of God, we are to live as a living sacrifice, so out of Love many of us sing to him, I sing to my son, my partner, my mother. Where in all that is there no relationship? But that's not even a full study, that's just a quick piece did.
Bluesky Gladue There is a personal relationship with Jesus. The first 3 mins is silly. I love much of his teaching. He is mixing salvation doctrine wrongly here imo. Didn’t Jesus love John? Yes, and it was personal. I stick closer than a brother...hmm. The marriage relationship between a man and woman is a shadow an example of the intimacy there is in Christ as we grow and go from faith to faith e.g. become more sanctified by his word as we read and meditate on it. Sometimes he takes stuff too far. Oh well...no big deal really. Love Jesus with all your heart. He’s coming back soon.
Perhaps Pastor Johnson's best message of all. This sermon is a masterpiece.

This is such an important teaching! Thank you thank you!
Excellent teaching.
Pastor Justin, this is really a great message... such clarity is refreshing.
A very needed and sobering message!

Brother Justin hits this right smack on the head.

@snark nado he means this was posted years ago and he is revisiting it again.

David did not have to rightly divide scripture because all of the scripture written at that point was literally TO Israel.
And it seems like you did not even listen to this.

Anything that does not show the cross and what Jesus Christ did, it’s taking away the attention from Him.
