I have only played the Japan track so far and found it unique and challenging. The water on the corners change up the cornering strategies. I also like that the game has a fairly good handicap system, if you find that someone is just racing ahead and winning all the time, have them start with one less heat card.
I think it was a major missed opportunity to add more weather options and tokens. One could be “heavy rain” and then they give you translucent water tokens to place on some corners of every map or something.
I don't think this is a great expansion. it doesn't do enough to add enough variety. An expansion like this should hit the theme hard and you are right there isn't enough heavy rain in Heat heavy rain. Always such detailed reviews!
Great review. Makes me want to reread the rules on the base game and get another game going on bga. The only thing is you have this game wired and you seem to win every game 😂

Yes this game seems fit for 8 players I am expecting another expansion since they had 2 open car spots in the main game.
