- A beloved butcher shop that’s been a staple in Ridgewood for more than seven decades is closing its doors for good due to what one co-owner says is skyrocketing rent.
I'm sorry you can't come to an agreement or resolution to keep a neighborhood staple from shutting it's doors. Some people you can't reason, rationalize and come to common ground with. There is no middle room with greedy hungry people. It's my way or no way. At this rate we won't have anything to preserve because they will be replaced.
This is why we can't have nice things!
Wow!! That comment was so apropos...just perfect.
I'll bet they replace the store with a nice smoke shop. If they're lucky a massage parlor, wink, wink...
great diverse demographics that brings lol
Another piece of traditional NY dies. Ridgewood used to be a very German immigrant neighborhood. And it was wonderful because of stores like this.
This used to be a wonderful neighborhood to live in, not anymore with the constant unpunished crime.
Sadly this was the last of the great pork stores left, first Karl Ehmer, now Morscher’s. The end to an era!
The third majority greedy partner, Siegfried Strahl (82), refused to sell the building to Herbie Morscher and for spite quadrupled the rent.
Shame on you Siegfried Strahl, hope you live to regret what you did to a thriving business.
I’m sure the customers hate you! I know I do!
Sorry for Ridgewood Queens. This is the flip side of no restrictions on commercial rent. Hopefully the butcher store won’t be replaced by a Popeyes, Foot Locker or Dollar General.
Hopefully they will move into another space. All greedy folks always pay sooner or later.
I bet he had a beef with the landlord.
Boy bye! 😂
Yes... that seems to be the "case."
Siegfried Strahl, the majority owner of the pork store AND the building owner refused to sell the building to Herbert Morscher and spitefully quadrupled the rent. What a damn shame!
@@IngefromGraz That's all folks
Watch them rent it to a weed shop… NYPD should fine them 1k everyday!!!!! Because we know damn well that they will be illegal
My community lost our butcher shop 4 years ago Honeywell meat market goes back to the early 70s i remember vividly as a pup going to the market after to school with my mom getting cuts for supper. We have must come together to support our neighborhood stores that actually make a difference in the community these high price supermarkets and bodegas are in for a quick buck to cover their rent.
the landlord must really hate pork
$5 bucks says a smoke shop will take its place
Is the landlord a small hat?
Is it (((those))) people ?
Siegfried. Take a guess.
Most likely
Owner must have gotten a better offer.
Or Maybie Brandon made things so expensive that he had no choice but to leave
Welcome walmart😂
Quality European meats that co-owner is trying to “rid” the entire inventory
Wow smfh that's fuked up leave the store alone
The landlords need to make a living too, with Brandon raising the prices of everything, they didn’t hav a choice but to raise the rent
His brother is the landlord, he is over 80 years old and he needs more money before he dies to satisfy his Greedy needs.🎉😢😮🎉
Come to Texas we got you fam and we got the plug on all the meats you could want from domesticated to wild 💯
Oh! Vey! They raised the rent😂😂😂
CASABLANCA is the best meat market in NYC!
U voted for it, u got it!!
Congestion pricing, inflation
What the hell is a “landlord?” Grow up, society.
Find them a cheaper place to rent
Skyrocketing rents in a store owned by the butcher 😂
Any reason why during 75 years they didn't buy their own building.
maybe it wasn't for sale
Another report said that the landlord was a partner in the park store so it is rather baffling to me. The neighborhood is changing so much.
The majority store owner, Siegfried Strahl, refused to sell the property to Herbert Morscher and spitefully quadrupled the rent.
What a greedy SOB! Hope he lives to regret what he did!
@@TuckerSP2011. Changing yes, but not for the better! Used to be a nice place to live, not anymore with the high crime rate!
I hope, Asylum Seekers get decent cheap apartments that they really deserve.
The others must work a little more and prepare for a rent rise.
15% cuts in NYPD, FDNY, sanitation, healthcare, and sanitation may be not enough.
What does your comment have to do with this story.
Try to focus!

"Due to skyrocketing rent"
15% cuts in all services, from NYPD and FDNY to sanitation and education.
Skyrocketing rents and HOA, taxes, because of 140k "asylum seekers" in the city.
ALL THEIR MEATS ARE PROCESSED ANYWAY. I DONT TRUST BUTCHERS.
