I've owned quite a few early 60s Lincolns and one 66 convertible. I am so happy to see one of these in the UK. Please note that the 462 is a bored and stroked MEL 430 engine. The 430 came out in 1958. By 1966 the Lincoln needed more horsepower as the car kept getting larger and heavier so the 430 was bored and stroked for the 462. The 460 is a completely new engine designed for better emission control and did not come out as you said until the late 68 model year. BTW I still own a 62 sedan, a low mileage original. Enjoy your Coupe
Nice one, yeah I've still got my big boy 'Abe here, longest I've owned any car for in fact, coming up on 2 years on July 4th. Since then also had a stunning 1960 Lincoln Premiere Landau as well which is also on the channel, but unfortunately had to get rid of her due to a seemingly bent front axle
California guy here. It makes me smile to see these see a Lincoln like this driving around the UK! I drove a 1969 Continental Mark 3 to my senior prom. 460 cubic inch V8 what a car! Dad also had a 64 Continental suicide sedan. We called it the Kennedy Continental. Great memories 😆
Nice, and yeah it gets plenty of love over here I'm glad to say. Literally just had it back from being Holley Sniper swapped, and its like a brand new car now, better than new even
I've driven many of these. They are superb to drive. My mother in law had one and my wife had a 1978 Mercury Grand Marquis coupe with a 460 and C6 auto. It was her favourite car of the many she has owned. Excellent video
The 460 came out in early1968 when the Mark lll was introduced as a 69 model. It continued nearly unchanged until being dropped after 1978 (in passenger cars) due to gas mileage regulations. The two engines have absolutely nothing in common. I have several of them from 1966 to 2004. Cheers, Doug
Back in those days, over thirty years ago, I drove a long Ford Econoline as a taxi in a city. Eight captain seats and sofa in the rear, it was much longer than yours car, but a smaller engine, just 7,3 liter diesel. It had a 160 liters tank. Zero to sixty in 12 sek and a topspeed about 100 mph. It was cheaper to run in the city, than the on the highway. I used it on a holiday trip. It drank 800 liters on that trip, but diesel was very cheap then, but still. I will remember, it needed oil change every 7500 mile, and then 12 liter oil. But what a punch it had. A Saturday night in the nightclub area. Lots of people laying on the streat, gear in neutral, and full gas. The road was cleared in a moment. That car was it present. By the way, I found a black, white interiør -69 Lincoln Continental Mark III at a dealership near me for sale at a price of ten grand.
When I was camping with my parents in France as a kid it was Swedes with the American day vans that caught my attention. I knew they were Swedes because of the flags they flew at the site 😂
Love the Lincoln .I love the 4 door with suicide rear doors . I run my 79 Cadillac Coupe Deville on half price LPG and it runs faultlessly. When i cruse through my town i feel like Queen Mary with tiny tugs around me .
These cars were made with love and were designed as the family dream car in a time that people dreamt of having a car, and those who could afford one had a dream made real. It's normal that everyone loves your car. You are Marty McFly cruising in their neighbourhood.
I think those Lincoln motors were originally big block Ford truck motors that became luxury car powerplants and general motors did the same, my very first car was a1964 Lincoln continental sedan and I loved that car as well - it was so finely built ,I felt like I was driving around in my living room and I used the standing hood ornament as a guiding point of the lengthy front end of the car when navigating my self down the streets, one of these cars trouble spots were the window components and I had to fix the electric window connections from time to time and I mentioned this to a person who knew of these cars and was told be careful when working on the inner doors especially the spring wound tension tension pieces so that they do not pop out when undoing because it might fly out and hit me and could be harmful/ enjoy your Lincoln they are special automobiles
Yeah the window is the main thing I’m working on at the moment. Got it mostly disassembled but the scissor mechanism screws have been stripped by someone in the past, and aren’t budging with a removal drillbit as yet
I used to have a 1977 Dodge Royal Monaco Brougham. It was similar in size to this one, even slightly longer and maybe an inch wider. Had a 440 V8. God I loved that thing. It wasn't fast, it wasn't sporty, it most certainly wasn't economical, but it was _fun_. And very, very comfortable.
Funny you should mention that, I was also looking at getting a gold '76 Monaco 400 with 36,000 miles on it. Lovely car, but went for this one in the end
@@HSGAutomotive The Lincoln is definitely better built than the Dodge would've been. Lincoln was a luxury car, Dodge was a fullsize family car. With that said, the driving experience is very similar. I think I might go for a 70's Eldorado next. 500 cubic inches sounds adequate.
@@HSGAutomotive I'd probably have a Pacer instead. I used to have a 1964 Rambler Classic and then later on a 1962 Ambassador wagon, so I'm partial to AMC products.
I do like the trunck space measured in litres. In Belgium 🇧🇪 we measure our trunck in litres so when you talk about gallons in don't understand it. The figure you quote more than 500 litres is huge. Our family Citroën C3 has 300 litres and we love it so we can do lots of things inside when we go or return from our yearly trip to 🇵🇱 Poland. I only can imagine how many kilos of Polish sauciges I can transport.

Lovley car, I like to get a Lincoln one day..
Cheers! As far as classics go, if you do want one they're not that expensive

The 460 with 380 hp?

With old school cars we measure truck space in bodies.

As a southern swede, I am happy we have such a huge cruiser culture, ol' Americanas can be found everywhere in great (and poor) condition!
Nice ahha 🤙

The Continental is hands down my favorite car. I’m looking to get a 63 sedan.
Some psychopath put one in our demolition derby when I was a kid. I’ve never been more heartbroken in my life.
Ouch 😂 and yeah the 62/63 was my favourite shape, but this one might have surpassed it for me now
Great video love
Thanx lil bubs

Respectfully keep in mind horsepower rating before 1972 was gross not net rating . You have great cars . I have had Lincolns also .
Oh shit I saw this car a week or so ago at a car show in Somerset didn’t realise it was you
Haha yeah bud, which one was that, the Zoyland meet?
@@HSGAutomotive yep that’s the one
@@HSGAutomotive you know they’re doing a second one on the 28th

Haha good to know somewhere actually uses that measurement
great car!!! will u be restoring the interior and the exterior?
I was thinking of it originally, but everyone loves it in person so I’ll keep the Fallout look that it has
Sounds fcking meaty
