The coolest of the cool . The Jazz scene in the 50's was incredible! Chet suffered greatly but never lost his touch. RIP
WHAT A GUY, what a musician, and unfortunately a tortured soul. Hs music makes my heart ache. Wonderful, wonderful.
You should read Chet Baker autobiography, it's tragic. Chet Baker His Life and Music by J. De Valk and As Though I Had Wings Lost Memoirs by Chet Baker I have both books.

This is a wonderful version and I have played this track a hundred times. I even cried once listening to it. I know it is Chet's signature tune in the end. Listen to the beautiful trumpet solo's. Goosebumps.. And the orchestra did a great job.
This version is the best I think. Unforgettable and sad.

To me, all of Chet's music is sublime and I know this is a favourite but his voice is so achingingly gentle and from his soul deep deep inside. I can say no more. Thank you for your music Chet. It makes my world better for it. There are no words that sum up the beauty of your musicianship.

this might be by far the best version of "My Funny Valentine". So many feelings
this is one of my favorite versions of my funny valentine by Chet. i love the 1956 version, but this one to me just sounds raw and i love his voice in this version. there’s also something just so soothing about this version too that i adore.
Questo pezzo, e' molto noto, suonato e cantato dal piu' genio Trombettista JAZZ del mondo.
Il suo nome è John Schroeder. Ha suonato con Chet in Europa negli anni '80. In questa registrazione ha un ruolo importante e ci sono diversi solo. Questo è tratto da un disco meraviglioso che è anche l'ultimo concerto prima della morte di chet. Si intitola "his last great concert" ed è un capolavoro, ma ci deve essere anche un live in isernia sempre con schroeder alla chitarra.Ciao e grazie per la considerazione.

Chet , as always, subtle and sweet... RIP he doesn't have to listen to Children's music with drum machines, crappy lyrics, and no talent fake musicians. Where are the Chet Baker's of today? None in the 'jazz ' community who I can think of. Better to play " a lot of notes" out of key, than precision and mastery. Kudos to Elvis Costello for helping him out in old age.

At May 13 -1988 I met my husband, the nite Baker fell from a window of an Amsterdam hotel. He was an amazing musician.

They say jazz is not for the young… you have to have an old soul to appreciate it. Whether or not that’s true, thank God for Chet and for RUclips too, so he’ll be with us forever. Hugs.

Still when drugs are on the Black Market, no one ever can determine exactly what they are buying. The Man was after him all the time, as it always was/is. Especially for the musicians.

I saw the post and I saw the movie and I saw some videos on Baker his very last concert he was prior to the concert complaining about the sound of drums and as a video of him going into the bar where he’s playing his very last show there was some drums playing and I’m like if you have absolutely nothing financially which he did not have anything except for a cheap hotel room he couldn’t get his cocaine or heroin or whatever the drug he was using and he had absolutely nothing and they were just using him to the end and My personal belief is he jumped out of his room holding onto his trumpet but no one knows what actually happened
So sereen and relaxed laidback music love it and never get enof of Chet!!
