Colleen if you ever wanted to get Flynn an easy pet, an axolotl is very easy to take care of. We have 1 and it’s easy tank set up and maintenance and they eat pretty minimal things. Something Flynn could feed him every day. There are pellets and bloodworms. They will lay on the bottom of the tank and just swim around and then all of a sudden swim up to the top and get air and then swim back down. A lot of the times they just fall back down and it’s really funny to watch them float down to the bottom haha
Just commenting to give input that anything in an aquarium is NOT easy! You have to fuss with the nitrogen cycle and keeping the water cold enough for an axo. Also they are illegal in California
This may seem like a good idea, but actually its terrible :( axolotls are an endagered species and we shouldn't have them as pets. It's an endemic species from Mexico, were we have a couple sactuaries that you couple visita if you ever come to México.

The cuttlefish is so cute!!! Do you feel that when Flynn grows up that he will be a Wildlife advocate or sorts? With his natural confidence in front of the camera and insane knowledge, it wouldn’t surprise me if we see him with his own show or presenting when he grows up. Can’t wait to see what his future holds - he’s a special kid!!
If you go there during the holidays they have actual reindeer there and it snows inside and they have a giant dome and inside they project a show about how snowflakes are formed.
So proud of Flynn saying it’s an Albino axolotl and not pink!! I live near their natural habitat in Mexico, and almost everybody thinks it’s just another colour and not a defect like albinism. Another cool and increíble thing about them is that they can regenerate their own internal organs!! They are highly studied because of that.
Colleen can I just say that you are such a great example of what a good mom is! I’m about to have my first baby, and literally since you had Flynn I’ve been taking notes on how you raise, teach, discipline and just even talk to your kids. As a viewer I can feel the love and care that you have for everyone of them and can see the love they all have for you as well. They’re all already so so kind and it’s because they have such great parents as they’re examples. I really hope I can be as wonderful of a momma as you. Ive been watching your videos for at least 12 years and love and look up to you a lot. And have learned so much from you. I know having 3 babies is the hardest thing in the world but you’re doing a better job at it than most people can with just one. You’re so strong! I don’t know why it took so many of your videos talking about cuttlefish, to realize that the aquarium where I live (Waikiki Aquarium on O’ahu, Hawai’i), has cuttlefish! Or at least they had when I was younger. My best friend and I went there as teenagers and weirdly bonded over cuttlefish, saying that was our animal! I hope Flynn never looses his passion for sea creatures!🥰
After the little tanks ( pink jellyfish floating on it's back, the fat black eel looking thing, the geila monster looking things), there is a tank that takes up the whole screen. Ask Flynn if he knows what the fish w/ the Pinnochio nose is called. It is after the closeup of a purplish-blue fish w/a yellow tail & is swimming near the top of the water going right to left. The Rainforest Cafe has them in their aquarium @ the Galveston, Texas location. We had no idea what it was, so we just call it the Pinnochio fish! I'm sure he'll know & is going to laugh at the name we gave it. LoL P.S. Flynn, your drawings were so AWESOME! When you grow up, maybe you'll be a marine biologist & get to work with all the ocean fish! I think you'd be a great one. You are SO smart to know the names of them. How did you learn so much about them?

Axolotyls are so cool because they’re highly regenerative. Do you know what animal is even cooler (in my opinion 😉)? Planaria! They are freshwater flatworms that are highly regenerative - they can even regenerate their head!! So wild! I think they’re the coolest animal but I may be a bit biased since I’m a biologist who studies them :) It’s so fun seeing Flynn learn about all the cool animals on our planet! ❤

I've been to this place so many times. That's because my sister's kids can use their medical insurance to get in for free plus up to 3 qualifying guests. That means one kid can get in there sibling for free and then me and my sister. It's amazing. We've been there so many times. Monterey Bay aquarium, which I went to yesterday and haven't been there in like 11 years, Maybe 12 year. Anyways, this is an amazing place. Their Butterfly exhibit is amazing and their albino alligator is amazing, and so is everything else.

The drawing is amazing. I LOVE Axolotl. You should show Flynn the correct pronunciation, that blew my mind after over a decade of loving them 😂 A sad fact about axolotl is that they are critically endangered in the wild. There is only once place in the world - Mexico. ONE lake; Lake Xochimilco and minimal canals. They are fast becoming extinct because of introduction to predators and human destruction. It would be amazing if we could do something to help the cause but I’m yet to find anything productive The better news though is that the pet population isn’t so low, they make adorable little pets if people are willing to provide proper care for them. I almost chose between a mosaic or a golden axolotl (tbh both) but I decided against either which I now regret 😅

Oh yay for axolotls! My daughter who is the same age as Flynn is OBSESSED with axolotls, we happen to live about 15 min from a small reptile zoo that has them and we love going to visit them!

Isn’t it crazy that, as parents, we feel guilty for doing things without our kiddos? Whenever my husband and I ever do anything without my 2 kids we feel bad that we left them home. Date night, grabbing lunch midday while out running errands. Why do we do that to ourselves? I’m sure there are going to be parents out there that say they never feel guilty and I shouldn’t either. I know that, and I also know it’s a me issue. I had a horrible childhood so I overcompensate as a parent. 🤦🏼♀️
Crazy things about axolotls is they stay in that baby phase their whole lives. All baby salamander look just like them. Theyre just salamanders that never "grow up"! When salamanders reach adult phase they lose their gills (frilly things on the sides of their heads) so they can walk on land. Axolotl never lose those gills. They can also regenerate most of their body parts and organs (without scar tissue)! Unfortunately theyre VERY endangered in the wild, but theres LOTS of people who breed them and sell them in captivity. Theyre a pretty common pet now!
Axolotls are cool. My coworkers nephew is obsessed with them. I got him axolotl socks last year for Christmas. This year I'm grabbing him a tee shirt that says “ I axolotl questions”. 🤪

But, they are exhausting!! Having a child was the hardest thing I have ever done in my life. On the other hand, having a child was the most amazing thing I have ever done. I so miss my son being young. He was such an amazing little guy. He is an amazing grown man. REady for grandkids. I am going to spoil them and send them back home. haha

Awww the cuttlefish is so so cute it’s so tiny just living its best life 🥹 Flynn will absolutely love it!! So happy you finally found one!!!! Who knew they were so hard to find at aquariums! I have a blue hanging jellyfish just like that in my room with a pink one. When I turn my night space lamp on with my salt lamp and I look up it feels like I’m in a underwater grotto it’s magical 🪼✨

I've been to this place so many times. That's because my sister's kids can use their medical insurance to get in for free plus up to 3 qualifying guests. That means one kid can get in there sibling for free and then me and my sister. It's amazing. We've been there so many times. Monterey Bay aquarium, which I went to yesterday and haven't been there in like 11 years, Maybe 12 year. Anyways, this is an amazing place. Their Butterfly exhibit is amazing and their albino alligator is amazing, and so is everything else.

A sad fact about axolotl is that they are critically endangered in the wild. There is only once place in the world - Mexico. ONE lake; Lake Xochimilco and minimal canals.
They are fast becoming extinct because of introduction to predators and human destruction. It would be amazing if we could do something to help the cause but I’m yet to find anything productive
The better news though is that the pet population isn’t so low, they make adorable little pets if people are willing to provide proper care for them. I almost chose between a mosaic or a golden axolotl (tbh both) but I decided against either which I now regret 😅

Oh yay for axolotls! My daughter who is the same age as Flynn is OBSESSED with axolotls, we happen to live about 15 min from a small reptile zoo that has them and we love going to visit them!

Isn’t it crazy that, as parents, we feel guilty for doing things without our kiddos? Whenever my husband and I ever do anything without my 2 kids we feel bad that we left them home. Date night, grabbing lunch midday while out running errands. Why do we do that to ourselves? I’m sure there are going to be parents out there that say they never feel guilty and I shouldn’t either. I know that, and I also know it’s a me issue. I had a horrible childhood so I overcompensate as a parent. 🤦🏼♀️

Crazy things about axolotls is they stay in that baby phase their whole lives. All baby salamander look just like them. Theyre just salamanders that never "grow up"! When salamanders reach adult phase they lose their gills (frilly things on the sides of their heads) so they can walk on land. Axolotl never lose those gills. They can also regenerate most of their body parts and organs (without scar tissue)! Unfortunately theyre VERY endangered in the wild, but theres LOTS of people who breed them and sell them in captivity. Theyre a pretty common pet now!

Axolotls are cool. My coworkers nephew is obsessed with them. I got him axolotl socks last year for Christmas. This year I'm grabbing him a tee shirt that says “ I axolotl questions”. 🤪

The footage from the aquarium just makes me think of the book remarkably bright creatures, you might really enjoy it if you are into reading or listening to it as an audiobook,I adored it and it is written 1/2 from perspective of a octopus in an aquarium
i heard “good luck, babe!” on the radio today on my way home and screamed! i immediately thought of you ❤️❤️❤️ you guys should drive down to san diego and check out the birch aquarium. there’s lots of cool stuff (and i think a cuttlefish)
