Supercharger is driven from crank via pulley hence it draws power from the engine hence loss of power is found on supercharged engines. Whereas Turbo is a simple mechanism of 2 fans connected via a shaft where one fan is driven by exhaust gases which drives the other one which is connected to the intake system which compresses the air going into the engine through intercooler which increases the volumetric efficiency of the engine hence no loss of power to feed engine extra air Hence, turbos are always preferred over superchargers
