    Most minor key songs and progressions are harmonized from the natural minor and harmonic minor scales.
    When improvising a lead melody, it's good to know when the change between these two minor scales occurs.
    This guided jam track will get you playing both scales confidently and melodically.
    While many backing tracks on youtube do show you the diagrams, it's also useful to know which notes to target through the chord changes, so your scale movements sound more connected to the backing music.
    That's why I show you the scale diagrams and their related chord patterns as the chords change, so you can explore the scale musically instead of aimlessly.
    Eventually, your ear will take over and you won't need these diagrams. But just like you start with arm floats in the swimming pool, or stabilizers on your first bike, these "chord tone markers" will help you develop quickly and enjoyably.

      True, in the key of A minor. But I always encourage people to learn the intervals (b3 becomes 3) so they can apply it in any key. You can download the track in the keys of Am, Em and Cm on the lesson page.

      You're totally right but in comparison to e.g. pianists, absolute note names somehow remain a weak spot for stringed instrument players. Again, you're lessons are great! Thanks!!

    probably the best lesson I've run across I only wish your graphics were >>>>> the other way around. I'm so use to looking at them with the nut on the right of the screen I'm afraid to buy. I'm going to go look at your website now. Only this beginners opinion and you know they say about opinions they're just like assholes everyones got one. This is really good though. fret jam.com

    Man, your vidéos are very hot and well structure. Do you have a vidéo that talk about 2 5 1, but in major situation? I found really helpful the one you made in minor, and i was wondering if you have tricks for those ones in major. I feel that i have less ideas in this particular case. Thanks again.

    • @fretjamguitar
      @fretjamguitar  10 лет назад +7

      Thanks for the kind words. I can do a similar lesson on major 2 5 1 if needed. I will add it to the list! I'm going to try and increase the output frequency of my videos so I can fulfil more of these requests. Cheers.

    Loving these videos.
    One question though - when phrasing, how do you manage the information about the current and upcoming chord in your head? I mean, when is the point in time when your phrasing stops trying to fit the current chord and starts to 'shape' towards the targets of the incoming chord? Is the current chord even that important, target-note wise?
