The fact that we can see Earth from a surface of another planet is astonishing. Billions of people have never seen what Earth looks like, let alone from another planet. Born too late to explore the Earth, born too soon to explore the galaxy.

I love the Cassini picture! I hope we send a similar spacecraft to Uranus (no jokes, now) so we can see the Earth from there. But also I'm pretty sure that Uranus is the planet we have the least photos of, or at least we have more of PLUTO and even Ultima Thule than Uranus and even Neptune, which is crazy to think about. Hopefully we send a mission to our two outermost planets soon and the mission is a productive one.

This is the problem life is not clearly defined everytime we come up with a checkbox list of criteria that life must follow and new organism is suddenly discovered which completely debunks it, its hard to define life and we probably never will since it seems likely that it was a gradient, you don't go to sleep as a kid and suddenly wake up as an adult, there is no boundary its a very thick and very blurry boundary but it seems more and more that this was the case with advanced organic molecules forming complex systems and creating complex chemical reactions before becoming progressively more complex until RNA formed and eventually DNA before becoming so long that it was to fragile to survive on its own, becoming so big on the microscale that it was able to scrap up dust and oil and other organic particles along with eventually forming a membrane also with complex chemical reactions, which would allow them to continue multiplying will also multiplying their membrane this is currently the most popular and well respected hypothesis for the origin of life, however it is still a hypothesis and it still yet to be a confirmed theory we simply don't have the things we need in order to preform a proper experiment yet, I know it seems complicated and you really have to have an inquisitive knowledge of chemistry, Physics, and Biology to fully grasp how life truly came about so to make things simply for you here are some link's to videos that I recommend you watch to gain a greater understanding of the hypothesis for the origin of life

You cannot say absolutely nothing if you don't know the focal lenght. About Apollo Missions they had lens from 16 mm to 500 mm. Wich one they used for that picture?

It’s weird how there are only a few photos of earth from outer space that show the entire planet. Is it really that hard to photograph earth from a distance while there are many photos of other planets? Did anyone ever think about turning the cameras towards earth to take a selfie? Strange.
That's exactly what happened, and the pictures already taken are more than sufficient for us to have an exact idea of the look of our planet.
More photos will surely be taken, but they will be just repetitions of the the previous procedures, only in different angles.

Probably cause its not that easy to just flip the satelite in reverse gear to get a clear shot of Earth
Why not put a camera on the back of the satellite and it can take a live feed plus multiple pictures as it gets further and further away. Pretty shocking no one has ever wanted to do this.... Wouldn’t a video like that get millions of views and be worth the time and investment?

I am curious why there isn't a constant feed of pictures of the entire planet being sent back to earth. This could be valuable information on monitoring the planet as a whole from a distance. There have been so many probes and missions and yet so few pictures.

That would be too much work getting the earths position in the right place, the moons position and even what degree the moon and Earth are in their 360 degree rotations not to mention the suns position. There, I gave you proof on how the earthrise picture isn't fake. It's up to you to understand how hard faking something like this would be in the 60's and even today.
I have just watched this and I for one never believed that the Earth is flat, but it's round, like a marble or a ball with oceans and mountains spinning around in space with plants, animals and the entire human race. Beautiful, but puny though ☺⛪.

Even though it's the oldest image and 'nearest', the blue marble hits me the hardest every time. You can imsgine being on that ship (or any ship) and when you get to that distance you see 'it' - my god, the world. That's really what it is, a big ball.

There are satellites which capture Earth from outer space, there are several which do just that, of which the Japanese Himawari 8 is the front runner.
From a distance of 22,240 miles (35,790km), the satellite shows what our planet looks like before any filters or image enhancements are made to the shot.
The satellite can see features down to around a third of a mile in size - twice the resolution of similar weather satellites that watch other parts of the globe, and take an entire globe image every 10 minutes.

Whoa, that is very cool! I feel so sorry for FE's. Having grown up in an age of computers and CGI, they've been robbed of the ability to see and have harvested only cynicism. I feel so fortunate to have grown up in the late 1950's and through the 60's, and lived witness to the great adventure of space and the race to the moon! We saw the triumphs as well as the failures, and remember those who died trying with deepest gratitude. Oh, what a wonderful planet we live on!
