Being separated from the birth mother is horrific for babies. Their nervous systems experience the separation as a death. Every cell in the body longs for the mother and the impact can last a life time.
This is a typical piece of bull certain women tell themselves because it makes them feel good and important to believe it, often because they have zero else to show for than to have given birth. I know people born by surrogate who are very happy with their childhoods and how they were conceived, publicly defending the practice. So, shush.
It's so important to hear from those directly affected by surrogacy. Sadly it is so very personal that it is incredibly hard for them to talk about it. A child can never consent.
How about all those people blessed by surrogacy? Do you think kids "consent" to be raised by emotionally unstable, man-hating single mothers, on the other hand?
It's so to imagine your life Olivia and so brave of you to speak out. Your voice is very important. I have a friend whose stepson and his male partner have recently 'taken possession' of a baby girl born by surrogacy. My friend showed me a photo of the 2 men proudly showing off their new 'daughter'. I felt sick to the stomach. My heart went out to that baby girl who will never know her mother but also to know that she would not have a mother figure in her life.😢
Thank you so much Olivia . Its so brave of you, not only making public your testimony, but the fact that you have looked at things with no auto-deception. Your testimony is so important , and so difficult to find due to the political control of the media, though Im sure there are others like you. It s important not only for surrogate mothers and children, and intended parents , but for those of us who investigate and do activism on motherhood and feminism. thank you
Dear Olivia, thank you for sharing this with us. It is time for people to realise that children are NOT a commodity! They are little human beings that cannot be bought, sold, used or abused without consequences. The more people like you that come out to tell your story the better, hopefully it will raise a few eyebrows, and ruffle a few feathers... Thank you.
I've know a couple surrogate mothers, and they had profound post partum depression. They wanted to be nice and give a gift. I could never be that "nice". No.
@abolitiongpa528 one got divorced a year and half later. She had 5 kids with her husband. She is still unwell, I think. She did risky behaviors (cheated on husband, etc) after the surrogacy. The other, I don't really know. I know she struggled for months after.. I'm not even sure it's been a year yet, so I don't know how she recovered. I know she did it to get her family in a home she wanted. She has 2 kids.
This is very interesting. Adoption is along the same lines more or less, ie selling children for various reasons, birth certs fabricated, human rights ignored, plus throw in a bit of religious oppression as well. I was born from the closed adoption era in Australia and I will follow your journey with interest. Strength to you.
Thank you for this important discussion. I would like furtger talks to discuss popular culture/media more. Surrogacy is becoming increasingly popular amongst celebrity culture (Elton John, Ronaldo, the Kardashians, Naomi Campbell etc) & I would like to explore this

I couldn’t agree any more with Olivia. No one has a right to a child if they are unable to have them. The child cannot consent to this.

Did they recover? How are they now? It is very worrying

Ooowe this provokes lots of questions.
I'd like to know how many others are affected negatively by this subject.
Thank you for this important discussion.

Nous espérons trouver le temps de le sous -titrer en d'autres langues
oui effectivement;il est dommage que nous ne puissions suivre les paroles d Olivia ;
Maybe sticking to pets is a better option for some people. Nature knows everything.
