This need to be made for the Focus ST. I see alot of things being done for the RS but us Enthusiasts with the STs would like these options too. So awesome guys keep it up
These can be mated to the st as well I checked with mountune
Do y’all know how much this whole thing would cost the transmission, and the shifter
if you're spending this kind of money on your st you need to just get an rs
I believe one day, sequential gearboxes will save the manual.
yes siree
Can't wait to hear the ST225 gearbox whine!! So excited for one in the Time attack car
That clutch engagement looks lovely!
Best video on Quaife yet, most people just humble brag and do a few rips. Subbed
I'm definitely getting one!
Right after I can afford an RS
price starting at your soul and first born child?
$9k for trans, then need geartronix system for shifts, then install time, and likely the stock clutch will not last to long with this.
@@ekklesiaillusion Sequential gearboxes aren't particularly hard on clutches. This is very similar to what you see in motorcycle transmissions. Clutch wear takes places when you're slipping it. You're not slipping anything if you're doing clutches shifts.
@@opmike343 exactly. The wear comes from friction which includes but is not limited to, bad driving hahaha. Fiesta ST gang chirping in here
@@opmike343 Got it in one - clutch to pull away and pull up - it's quicker and causes less wear.
Now fit a Kliktronic to it - kills power to coil pack for milliseconds, taking load off of the drivetrain and shifts for you... keep the throttle planted, press the button and done.
@@ekklesiaillusion well if i spent $9k on a tranny and I gotta drop it to replace it, I'm gonna be upgrading the clutch anyway.. because chances are if I'm spending $9k on a trans, then i'm gonna have some engine work done already or planned.
Regardless of cost, complexity, etc.... It's awesome.
Mans best friend in a transmission never thought I’d see the day
Interesting. Never HEARD of this kind of transmission. Thanks for the vid.
Not a bad way to spend 9 grand. Absolutely pointless unless you’re racing
Needs to get replaced every 100h or so of drive time... What's the point
@@killiancarles9870 i wouldn't think so unless you're being really aggressive, almost all motorcycles use this sort of transmission. more expensive ones come with a quick shifter (clutchless shifting while on the throttle) and the fancier ones come with quick shifter for downshifts too (auto-blip)
@@moomilkboy that's how long the sequential lasted on my gt3, lasted about 60h of street driving, nothing harsh, but the first gear starts in the city are a little hard on the clutch...
@@killiancarles9870 So new transmission ever head gasket?
@@WarhorseS197 Everyone knows about the German reliability😂😂
That transmission is a beast
Very nice explaination sir,,,now I know how sequintial transmission work
Very very nice. Good Job Guys. Greetings from Germany
I need this in my life
Nice explanation of Dog-engagement, really appreciate it. If you & Quaife produce a dog-sequential box for the Fiesta ST Mk7 & Mk8 (UK) I’m in.
Don't forget the Mk5✌️
It's awesome and great work to you mountune. But i will stay to the best H-Pattern.
My understanding from other videos on youtube is that you can clutchless shift a dog box without any fancy ecu, you just have to lift off the throttle real quick before an upshift and be skilled at rev matching the downshift with a quick blip of the throttle.
Nice video!
Wow amazing
Love it😍
That's awesome
Need this for my Subaru
So cool!! 🤟🏻
It’s fantastic
It's a five speed box. Also available as a paddle shifter.
oooooooh man I want one!!!!! [wish list]
I think I'm in love 😍😍😍😍
Amazing
Badass
Love it
Are there any updates regarding availability? Would buy one in a heartbeat 🤣
i love that shit eating grin he has on his face right when the video starts
Is this available for the fiesta ST
can it make those dual clutch bangs on the upshift now?
Is there a lockout for neutral the same way as there is for reverse? So that if you accidentally go one to many down you don’t get neitral
How long do these last in between rebuild intervals?
I checked and it fits on the ST... but with discounts on the car my ST is barely double the value of the transmission
I’m still more a an H pattern guy but I would still buy this transmission as well
I need this for my st
lovely
I would like to buy this. Now.
Tyler is so smart.
Is this available for other make?
How do I volunteer my car as a Mule for mountune?
DECENT!!!
Will the sequential gearbox last as long as the synchronised transmission?
Serious bit of kit
So clunky and badass and mouthwatering.
Gramatik, nice touch
with no syncros how often do the dogs need to be replaced
am in
love
this wasn't covered well. do I downshift like normal with the clutch and gas, or is there an auto blip function available that is fast enough to keep up with this trans? also, what is lifetime like
Hey Mountune, from your other responses, it appears that the trans that your developing for the RS mk2 (m66 trans) might work for a AWD conversion for my volvo C30?
The M66 used for those is FWD so no it wouldn't work. There is a difference in the right hand axle output that either fits AWD or doesn't. The M66 they have doesn't have the AWD compatibility. That being said if you have them an AWD transmission case I can't see why it wouldn't work throwing the FWD guts into the AWD casing. But I don't know enough about what mountune does inside the casing
Hi J Irvine, Thanks for you reply, I purchased a awd m66 from the awd s40 and I have the j14 LSD for that trans. I hear that the internal are the same for both fwd and awd trans the only difference is the passenger side axle and output casing on that side. I was hoping that the quiafe internals would work for both trans.
Nice. But I think the gear indicator should be on the dashboard, so you don't have to look down which is kinda dangerous.
How to go to reverse?
Does it have reverse?
will it fit in my 03 lancer😏
@shmee150 needs this
hell yes
Wow!!! realy not bad.
How often does it have to be rebuilt? Dog engagement doesn't last forever.
Oh why did you put this video up, I've always wanted a car with a sequential gearbox ever since I drove a rally car with one in
Are you making on for the ST?
Can this be bought for a Fiesta ST 2019
I’m so confused what’s the point of the clutch at this point then for launching and for clutch kicks and such?
How do you put in reverse?... Is it by pushing up when it's in neutral
Stupid question....
Will the gears work in a speed 3 and can I buy just them?
I want one!!
Does this shift faster than a dual clutch gear box? E.g. The PDK gearbox in a Porsche 911 Turbo S?
It's better than a regular synchronized gear box but not even close to as fast as a dct
@@frederikhalbro2622 shift times greatly depend on multiple other factors, including the fuel cut times and the likes. The difference between the dog engagement and a Dual Clutch box shift time is negligible. Advantages of a dog box, sequential or not, are weight savings and sturdiness at the expense of harshness and noise. DCTs offer ease of use, fast shifts and comfort at the expense of weight, complexity and longer shifts when shifting more than 1 gear at a time.
For anything but track use, DCTs will offer the better deal. If you're going for track focused cars, go with a dog box.
The speed is similar if the sequential transmission is pneumatically controlled
Does Launch Control still function with this, as well as the drift stick?
I don't see why it wouldn't, you still have to use the clutch all the same to get going.
That a no brainer tbh
How do u reverse
I don't know why MFG don't make this as an option. This would be fantastic to have! Better than any type.of automatic/DSG!!!
do you have anything for mtx75 transmission
My main question is dose it fit focus st 2013
Having driven a car with a sequential, they’re absolutely terrible in every situation other than full throttle, max RPM upshifts. Also the clutch is usually a nightmare to pull away with. Fitting a sequential would ruin the car in every situation other than flat out track driving
That’s the point I hope, race track is the main use for sequential anyways
Always wondered why sequential cars are so hopeless. Motorcycles are always sequential and I love the way my bike pulls away and changes gear
Youri Dv bikes are only about 300kg including the rider and as such the inertia of the bike, plus the inertia of a much smaller gearbox is tiny by comparison. You also only have one tiny contact patch. Compare that with a 1500kg car, with 4wd and a gear set capable of dealing with 500Nm torque and 375bhp and you start to see why there’s such a difference
@@ArosaMike Thanks but all you did was sum up the differences between bikes and cars. I don't see an explanation or anything relating the differences to the different behaviour. Thank you for trying to help but yeah.. think I can see that a car is bigger and torqueier
Youri Dv ?? Then you answered your own question already. It’s simple physics. A bigger car has more inertia, and more torque, so needs a stronger heavier drive train to cope. Moving the drive train around when changing gear takes more force as there’s more gear mass to move and higher loads in the gearbox. It’s that simple. If a gearbox has a higher torque capacity, the gears and dogs are bigger, their inertia is higher and the engagement has to be more robust.
I do like that sound but that's all its got going for it
Can i Install this Kit also to the MK2 RS ?
Nope but they are working on a MK2 RS transmission aswell
How do you reverse?
What's that number next to the gear display?
Looks like a shift counter. When he put it in first to take off it went from 39 to 40. Just a guess
@@ltbullitt35 , Maybe, but it went from 39 to 40 to 39 in the first shift sequence they show.
I think that small number is the gearbox’s own oil temperature. Indicating temperature of the transmission fluid.
@@Moore_Jono , That's probably it. It's listed as an option on the website. Good call!
@@Moore_Jono think we have a winner. Your Probably right. Trans sounds awesome but haven't heard of to many people full tracking these. Heard the diffs overheat on track days and 9k is crazy.
Interesting alternative. I just dropped a grand into a racing gearbox for my Mustang - I would have considered this option had I known of it.
They are a lot more expensive than a grand bob. Try $15,000
@@chasescott9836 Do I get a car with that?
Can I bolt this to my st
question unanswered is can it handle more power that the standard gearbox? or is there a strength upgrade?
Yes , its stronger than the standard box. The gears are physically wider and the great teeth are also improved.
This is really for converting a street car with an H pattern manual for track use or off road rallying, etc. And you definitely don’t want this if you already have a dual clutch DSG type tranny in your daily drive street car
Wish they had these for Mazdaspeed 3😞
can this be fitted to non ST/RS MK3 Focuses?
Well when my 6spd inevitably shits itself due too the massive jump in power I will get this instead of that when ford says they wont replace it.
It broke yet?
@@scarea2691 Still working on it. It will die eventually if I know ford and their affinity for putting plastic parts where they dont belong.
@@herpderp1662 what about now?
@@dany_2945 sold it and got something useful.
So how you go to neutral?! Do you have to go threw the gears or it does it automatically?
Yes, down through all the gears and it's right there between 1st and R :)
Any chance the Focus ST is getting this?
Update: fits ST and RS. Retails at $8,999.00 = Holy sh!t.
It's a transmission
What are you expecting?
@@stillnottellingyoumyname8193 Was expecting less, a lot less but than again I always under estimate prices.
@@Rancho.Jimenez 9k for a sequential gear box is actually really cheap
More like $11,500 now and still no release date
Aside from using the clutch in 1st to start accelerating, are there any sequential transmissions that are clutchless?
Super sexy. Is there a unit available for the mk1 focus?
this could in theory be used on an mk1 focus if you have the duratec engine, as the duratec engines use the same bell housing design as the ecoboost engines. However im not 100 percent sure on fitment around the subframe or the transmission mounting locations.
The gearbox itself would probably be worth more than the car?
@@andrewb1034 they are similar but very different. See Jeff Bosse on FB, he swapped an ecoboost drivetrain into a mk1 and it is almost completely custom.
SevensGaming the swap can be done 100 percent using the st/ecoboost drivetrain. Only thing that may need to be changed is the axles depending on what hub you choose to run. The ecoboost is the same bellhousing so you can run the mtx75 also with an ecoboost swap. Thus in theory you could run this transmission as long as it clears the front subframe with the ptu.
I think you guys should do a cleaner, black model, without the blue part. Just something that goes straight up and has the balloon shape knob. That design looks a bit funky in that interior. Not knocking it, but I think you’d sell a lot more if there was a cleaner, less busy design available.
Oscar Landa ???
Oh wait is the knob/lever part of the package?
Oscar Landa it’s mainly focused for track/racing types cars. Not really a ideal method for daily driving. You can buy the kit and change whatever you want
And of course this comes out after i bought and installed the ford performance short shifter
Is this still around?
Can’t you just manually control the throttle? Like put some pressure on the shift lever then let off the gas and it will pop into hear.
Are you guys making it for the ST?
omah theCool yes it’s available for the Focus ST
The st and rs use the same transmission
Is this available for the fiesta mk7 ST

What about downshift?
fuck flappy paddle stuff....I WANT THAT. Thanks mountune
how come in one part of the video (4:25) you say that you have to press the clutch for 1, 2, 3, etc.... but later (5:00) you say you can just shift through the gears without touching the clutch? which is it?
because hes driving at much higher RPMS. this is a racing shifter. so its designed to eliminate the time needed to push the clutch find the gear and release the clutch at high speeds.
This was basically putting motorcycle shift pattern that equipped with quickshifter+blipper to a car
