One thing we must come to grips with is we humans haven't lasted as long as we have by being weak physically or mentally. Violence is just a fact of living with and among other humans and animals. We are civilized to a point but people still commit violent acts against each other today, so we should be willing to combat that violence if it forced upon us. During a time of collapse or wrol violence will become even more prevalent and accepted. The key to survival in any potential violent situation is to avoid conflict at all cost, but if we cannot avoid it then we should be prepared to match or even supercede the violence pushed on us.

Very good advice! It’s always best to avoid confrontation. Being an older female, and having a way of protection same as yours, some of those parts have been replaced by titanium. Reason being, is I’m not as strong as I used to be. Something to remember as we age (our bodies change). I pray we never have to experience these things, but it’s good to be aware of what’s going on, and be prepared. 30 years ago, the father of a girl I was dating told me the same thing. Said during the late 60s the world seemed to be coming apart at the seams. He considered stockpiling weapons and food and all the standard survivalist go-tos.
As he thought through the scenarios, he said he realized that no matter what you stored up, somebody could always take it away from you. There will always be someone with more or bigger guns. Even if you are a warlord in your own right, there will be a bigger one or a coalition of smaller ones that can defeat you.
He realized the only thing they cant' take is skills. So he became a boiler/HVAC tech. He said no matter who took over in any post-apocalypse scenario, they would still need people who knew how to run the systems. If you did your job and didn't make waves, they'd at least let you live and treat you well enough to be able to do the job.
His SHTF never came of course, but he got a good solid career out of the decision.

@@americanpatriot6918 I'm right with you in hoping we never need to use this information. I can talk all day about books as my survival library has become ridiculously large over the last couple decades. As far as combat tactics, I feel most of the military training is better suited for that organization and their logistics than for the average prepper. I do love the military's sniper training manual though. There's excellent info about field skills and mission planning in there. Besides that, I would be looking for information on guerilla tactics and unconventional warfare. Robert Greene's book The 33 Strategies of War is great for bigger picture thinking. As are his other books on the laws of power, seduction and mastery. A short easy read on small unit planning is The Defence of Duffer's Drift.
For survival, my most important books are Edible Wild Plants Volumes 1 + 2 by John Kallas and Nature's Garden, Forager's Harvest and Incredible Wild Edibles by Samuel Thayer.
For survival gardening The Resilient Gardener by Carol Deppe, Landrace Gardening by Joseph Lofthouse and The Lost Art of Potato Breeding by Rebsie Fairholm.
For survival livestock The Small Scale Poultry Flock by Harvey Ussery, Fresh-Air Poultry Houses by Prince T. Woods and Top-Bar Beekeeping by Crowder and Harrell (both book and dvd are excellent.)

very good sober talk, subscribed for more.
would be interested in hearing how you would deal with a checkpoint or suspiciously obstructed road -- something I think could be a fairly plausible scenario.
let's say you're travelling to your safe location at a time of turmoil. you've been driving on an empty road with no turn-offs for a while, just a typical two lane road with forest on each side. suddenly, you spot a checkpoint up ahead being visibly manned by armed people OR some fallen trees and couple of cars that look like they crashed into each other obstructing the road. turning back to find a way around would burn fuel you don't have to spare.
in either case, you don't know if this is something set up by local residents who are decent people and are just worried about marauders coming into their community or if it is a trap/block set up by marauders.
a common variant of this scenario would be either a clear checkpoint or suspicious blockage on a bridge that you have no real alternative but to cross to get to your destination.

Nothing is going to happen on a massive level anytime soon. Atleast not in the next 20 years

Good to know you've been using Nostradamus' globe to read future. You're wrong though! Even one EMP bomb on the East Coast, and shit has them become SHTF. Computer systems down. Distribution of food and goods down. Within days, people are running out of food, can't get medicine, etc. Should it happen during winter, people will begin to freeze to death. The first six months there will be death toll numbers that will boggle your minds. And if you really think as you've blurted out, you'll more than likely be one of those who croak during that first six months.

You go ahead and rest on that ‘knowledge’ my friend. I hope you’re right. And I hope you’re prepared if/when you turn out to be wrong. It’s not a waste of time to be prepared and stay vigilant. Even if the day never comes.
      God bless.
