    Surviving space doesn't mean you can survive the bottom of the frozen ocean. Space is a vacuum their exoskeleton could allow them to survive that. But the pressure of the bottom of the ocean is absolutely tremendous and her exoskeleton has already been breached several times reducing its integrity. Unlike a crab that evolved its shell for that pressure its safe to assume the xenomorphs never had to evolve for deep sea action. It's not like you can go DEEP sea diving in a space suite.

      @Nicho_Cheesy 7 лет назад +2

      Draconis The Wyvern ok you misunderstood my comment and also I worded it weird so it's my fault mostly. Pretty quickly does not mean instantly, but I believe that she could survive long enough to be able to evolve enough to save her if she needed it. But a big reason why we don't know if she's dead or not is because she'd survive anything except for extremes amounts of pressure and we don't even know how deep the water was. Water can be very misleading.

    I was really hoping the sequel would have explained what happened to the alien queen. If an alien can survive the cold vacuum of space, then it is extremely possible for the alien queen to survive the Frozen depths of the ocean. Then again the queen could have just broken the chain after she sink to the bottom of the ocean and swam away. And we know from the alien franchise, that aliens are actually pretty good swimmers. And for all we know aliens don't need to breathe.

      Yeah, that was pretty much my thought too. What I'm really wondering is if the Queen is able to lay eggs again after detaching from her egg sac. If she can, she's an alien infestation waiting to happen. If she can't, she's just a lone, albeit dangerous xenomorph frozen underwater.

    As we have seen from the previous Alien films, the xenomorphs are susceptible to pressure: either localised such as a gunshot or blade strike, or overall such as an APC wheel or pressure changes due to rapid cooling. The pressure at the bottom of even a modest ocean is massively in excess of a solid APCing. Given that Bouvet Island has a steep coast (its land mass does not slope gently to the abyssal plain) the Queen is likely to have found herself swiftly in the crushing depths and in for a good crushing. We know low temperatures are not fatal to the xenomorphs - having seen them in deep space and thawed out from the freezer. It is worth noting that the deep sea is warmer than that which we have seen them endure and also does not freeze solid due to pressure, salinity and the effect of currents, so a lack of mobility due to ice formation is not a thing. Let's say that she can function under extreme pressures and the ocean depths are not cold enough to halt her metabolism (also that she could eventually free herself and isn't buoyant) she could, like the humble lobster, walk herself to shore. That throws up new challenges. Should she choose the correct direction, she would still have to walk 1000+ miles to get to accessible land. If not she could be roaming the ocean floor for years. All in all...I think she's dead.

      Xenomorph 2016 I never really thought of that :-). That said, it would be a tough ascent, and I don't know if she's built for climbing. I still think the pressure would render her a crippled lump and see her off.

    • @Xenomorph-gm2yo
      @Xenomorph-gm2yo 7 лет назад

      Michael Purvis her claws can act as hooks to penetrate the ice. Even if she can't climb, she can swim to a lower shoreline. Xenomorphs aren't built to survive crushing sea levels, but if she can break the chain, she can swim to the surface where she'll be out of harms way. They are expert swimmers...

    I don't think the cold or the submersion would kill a xenomorph, let alone the Queen, but the pressure most likely would. As far as I know, their exoskeletons are not that flexible. I always thought the queen would survive no problem even in the depths of the Antarctic ocean. The xenomorph is supposed to be the perfect organism and the Antarctic sea floor has life so I don't think it's a stretch that the queen could not only not freeze or be crushed but could theoretically start a new colony. Would make a great film really, by the time we know there is a problem it's too late and there is a huge war for survival. Would've been better than avp2 anyway!

  • @conkyjoe8932
    @conkyjoe8932 7 лет назад +5

    I'm just going off this...we see that xenomorph exoskeletons can be crushed. Ripley runs some over in the Marine's vehicle and they were crushed with ease. And one of those rides doesn't exert anywhere NEAR the amount of pressure the antarctic depths would. So it's really a no brainer if you think of it like that. Queenie's only hope would be to sever that chain and swim her ass off.

    If they ever do an AVP 3, I think having the queen survive and either free herself or be pulled up by some hapless humans would be the perfect way to kick off the next movie. If they never do another AVP, or decide to reboot it (which is probably the most likely option), I choose to believe she survived but was frozen. Aliens can survive space, and a bath of molten lead, I don't think the pressure would kill her.

    +HybridNetwork everything including a human can for a limited time survive the vacuum of space. what kills you is either death by asphyxiation or the pressure. when you increase or decrease the pressure matter acts very differently. water boils in a zero pressure environment. in a way your blood boils and freezes at the same time. as the water in your blood boils heat is lost due to the water vapor evaporating and the cold. in effect your "boiling" while freezing.
    everything has a crush depth; what a crush depth is is purely the amount of force that a body can handle before the pressure literally crushes it and causes it to crumble. nuclear attack submarines have a crush depth of 730 meters (estimated). an i really really doubt even with the exoskeleton being bullet resistant that the xenomorph can survive a depth lower than a nuclear attack submarine. subs have multiply hulls. one hull type is the light hull; its the hull you see. the other type of hull is the pressure hull. the pressure hull is the hull that actually withstands the pressure and pushes the light hull up. many subs like the typhoon class sub have multiply pressure hulls so that even if one hull is breached there are other barriers in the way.

    She sank back down exactly into the Queen's Chamber in the temple (the same temple we saw blow up in a nuclear explosion) to be thawed out again in hundred years when the predators return.
    Or, she probably got crushed like an eggshell after sinking deep enough into the ocean.
    Writers can do whatever they want. She broke the 100 year old chain that was anchoring her and swam back to the surface. And there you have it: AVP3 The Queen's Long Swim to Civilization.

    Well their is no concept of how deep that part of the ocean is we can go pretty damn far underwater people without being crushed and there are a lot of aquatic lifeforms that live where we can't explore and survive the pressure. • @demongrenade2748
    @demongrenade2748 7 лет назад +43

    What happened?
    It died. Like for real. She dead as fuck.
    The pressures from sinking to the bottom of the ocean kinda does that.
    That kind of pressure will literally shrink steel. Its thousands of pounds of foot pressure per inch all over the every surface on the queen's body. Subs dont shrink only because they are pressurized from the inside to keep them from imploding and there are only a few subs in the world that can reach the deepest parts of the ocean.
    The alien queen might be strong, but she aint that strong.
    Like I said, she's dead as FUCK

    • @Nicho_Cheesy
      @Nicho_Cheesy 7 лет назад

      DemonGrenade274 ok ok, so yes, the pressure is high. But we never knew how deep it went, it literally could have ended in a couple more meters and just been dark. Also it's a queen, not a drone, it can withstand far more pressure than a drone or warrior or praetorian. Plus like I have said before xenomorphs literally can evolve and change to fit their need at the current time. She probably did some shit and is able to withstand the pressure. Killing one by natural cause is hard. You have to kill it with weapons, that's literally the only way. Otherwise they just keep changing and changing.

    • @demongrenade2748
      @demongrenade2748 7 лет назад +11

      Unless the queen can force evolve in the span of a 1 or 2 hours under the absolute harshest conditions possible on earth, she's dead.
      And you're right, she's not a drone, warrior. or praetorian. But if she is impervious to the pressures that she would experience at the bottom of the ocean, then she would also be impervious to any type of weaponry that relies on kinetic energy (i.e bullets or sharp weapons propelled at high speed, like a spear or blade used in the hand of a predator or an alien mouth attack). And we've seen plenty of instances in that very same movie that show that this isn't the case.
      Her only hope is for her to break the chain that bringing her down. But again, within the same movie, it is show that she is unable to break the chains through regular means. She had to rely on her drones to injure her so her acid blood would weaken the chains so she can break them and get loose.
      And she would also have to do it quickly as the temperatures of the water are already insanely cold at the surface level. They'll get exponentially colder with every meter she sinks and she was sinking fast. Within minutes she'll get frozen enough to impair her abilities to break the chain and she'll be doomed.
      And after all that, if she manages to break free, she would have to do it fast enough to be able to swim to the surface before the ice freezes back over. And again, its Antarctica. The water will refreeze within a few minutes. If that happens, she'll freeze, sink, and die from the over pressure anyway.
      There are just too many things going against the queen for her to have survived. She would have had better luck surviving if she just waited for the predator and surviving human to leave after the detonation of the temple. In fact, if she had done that, then she would have absolutely no trouble surviving. The cold air might be harsh but she's survived being frozen before. There's a chance that one of the weyland's competitors (who apparently also have thermal imaging satellites over the region according to the movie) would go on a similar expedition to the area and find the queen frozen in the ice.
      I think if they wanted a sequel that involved the queen, then thats what would have needed to happen. But what we got ensures that the queen is completely, irreversibly, dead.

    • @demongrenade2748
      @demongrenade2748 7 лет назад +4

      Actually, I think there is a way to get a sequel using an alien queen now that I think about it. It just wont be the same queen.
      The general accepted life cycle of a hive is that in if there is no queen present, a drone will morph into a praetorian which will then morph into a queen right?
      Well, say that the grid alien managed to survive the explosion and got buried in the Ice. Grid later gets found by a weyland competitor like I mentioned in my previous comment. Since her queen is dead, wouldn't grid molt into another queen?
      There we have it. Thats how a sequel could happen with another queen on earth. Not all the aliens died in the explosion. In the absence of a queen, and when unfrozen, they'll try to morph into another upon discovery.
      Problem solved.

    Some youngblood predators return to earth every 100 years to hunt at the pyramid locations. When the explorers got to the pyramid, the queen was raised up from a holding cell where she was kept frozen. That means the queen is able to remain alive in suspended animation for an extended period of time (100+ years). If the water pressure didn't kill her when she fell into the ocean, she'd probably just go back into suspended animation until someone recovered her, or the chain broke and she was able to resurface.

  • @AlienRelics

    1. She wasn't frozen in ice. She was covered in ice, appears she was removed from liquid nitrogen, and is moving while still covered in ice and so below freezing.
    2. Fish don't freeze in the ocean. Salt water can get colder than 0C before freezing, but water ice floats. Water with anything dissolved in it must go below 0C to freeze.
    3. She won't get "crushed flat". Water pressure isn't a press. It presses equally all around. What will happen, is chemical reactions, especially complex shape-based processes like amino acids and proteins, will act differently under great pressure. Living things around hydrothermal vents and in the deep ocean have somewhat different varieties of these that won't work correctly at shallower depths.

    • @KaosNova2
      @KaosNova2 6 лет назад

      Fish have chemicals in their blood to prevent freezing. It would help if people knew that.
      Aliens got crushed under heavy machinery and tank treads. The pressure at such great depths underwater will crush with greater force than what has been shown to crush aliens in the movies.

    It would be possible for survival if you take into account for other Aliens, Predator, and AvP media in which the Xenomorph is depicted in various tasks such as walking along the outside of a ship in space (key point there), adapting/observing (Aliens Resurrection), or having a hibernation mode/suspended animation to save on energy until food arrives or to "travel" ( take that as you will) (certain amphibians/animals hibernate)

    Its simple, if the queen did not sink too low for the pressure to become too much, then likelihood is that she is probably frozen and could be thawed out to wreak havoc. There are so many other options in regards to stories for the Alien/predator franchises that I really hope they don't dig this one up, or at least not for a while.

    Well, she got dragged off a cliff edge - so the water likely wouldn't have been crush depth. Let's not forget as well that in Alien Resurrection, we can see that Xenomorphs can swim very well - and that the facehuggers can not only survive in inhospitable atmospheres, but keep hosts alive in environments in which the host would die. See the original Alien for the best example of that - the air of LV426 in the original Alien is completely unbreathable and well below zero - yet the facehugger is able to survive that atmosphere and provide oxygen for Kane to survive a long trip back to the Nostromo.

    I have a hard time believing some rusty iron chains would keep a xenomorph queen anchored for long. As xenomoprhs adapt well in water, she probably escaped, swam to somwhere suitable and is laying eggs in some dark corner.
    As for the queen that was spaced, she would have lasted for awhile, but in the vacuum of space the creatures high preassure blood/hydraulics system would eventually come apart having adapted to a preassurized atmosphere.
    If a human can last 90 seconds in the vacuum, the queen xenomorph probably lasted 90 minutes before being 'vacuumed out'. I would say that's probably on par.

    Time to drop some facts. Xenomorphs aren't affected by temperatures unless it's a drastic and quick change like going from extremely hot to extremely cold and vice versa. Saying as the temperature was roughly the same in and out of the water she didn't die from that. Now on to the next possible factor, air. Well it is true xenomorphs don't need air to live and even if they did they are known to be able to mutate at will just to survive so no go on air. Next one pressure. Well let's see just a flat out no. Hard pressure like a hydraulic press would do it but just plain water pressure will not crush a xenomorphs hide. And finally battle scars, like he said this was a much larger queen and xenos heal pretty well too so I don't think that would kill her. So my opinion based off the facts are that she's not dead but either frozen, struggling against the chain, or already free and attempting to start a new hive. Now those are three conclusions I've come to. Which one is true, I don't fucking know.

    The Queen is "D-E-A-D" if the alien in Aliens can be crushed by simply being run over by an APC that weights 15,000 pounds (overall) then the Queen is going to DEFINITELY be crushed by the pressure of anywhere between 6000-10,000 pounds PER SQUARE INCH alone (not overall like the APC). Even If we take into account that the queen's exoskeleton is a bit stronger than a regular Xeno, she's done.

  • @DMBLaan
    @DMBLaan 7 лет назад

    I can see you point on the Xenos being able to survive x amount of time in the vacuum of space, that said, while the ocean depth are cold like space with no breathable air/oxygen, there is one BIG difference between the two and that's the pressure. If memory servers, in space there is next to no pressure, but the bottom of the ocean the is a lot of it. Hypothetically, the deepest part of the Antarctic Ocean is about 7,236 m, or 23,740 ft, so the pressure at that depth, in psi, is about 10,564. Now I admit I could be wrong, I don't know if it's ever been said how much pressure the Xenos can survive in, but it's definitely something to keep in mind.

  • @apex_7766

    Even though they can survive in these climates, a xenomorph tht didn't pop out of a creature adapted to this environment will most likely not enjoy the time in those climates. Extreme heat, extreme cold, xenos try to find warm, moist areas, but when attacked by fire and liquid nitrogen they recoil and retreat. I imagine that Queen was PISSED when she went into that arctic water.

    Excluding the fact that the setting of AvP is not the right one, Requiem, if it was really a sequel, would start in the future when a group of explorers find an iceberg with the queen inside. The queen would somehow free herself from her cold prison and start a new hive with a face hugger impregnating a predator (of course cutting out of the first film the fact that scar got impregnated) and then the predalien would be like a pretorian, when the queen dies at the end of this film, the predalien still alive would take her place, then maybe something like Requiem would happen.

A mission involving US Marines, SEALS, DELTA or a world "Combo" of spec-ops are sent to protect the WY team that investigates the pyramid and everything else. Finds all the bodies that remain. A sub is sent down to either confirm the Queens' "Death" or retrieve her. Of course it goes wrong (as ALL WY encounters with the Alien does) and all besides one or two of the Security team survives.

    One thing you got to remember is in (AVP R 2007) the predalien was evolving into a queen especially when she was able to impregnate women or other humans with her mandibles and tongue puncher thing and not only that in my opinion i think the predalien was actually a queen to begin with since when a xenomorph queen dies or is just not present a new xenomorph or in this case the abomination must evolve into a queen and i believe thats what happened in this case and another supporting theory on this is the predalien queen in avp r spawned a whole army of xenomorph warriors and if you listen in a few of the scenes in avp r you can even hear the predalien queen doing the breathing noise a normal xenomorph queen does when laying the ovamorph eggs so yes there's a possibility of the antarctic queen being alive but she wasn't present during the events of avpr so that's why in conclusion I believe technically predalien was the last surviving xenomorph after the events in Antarctica and so i believe it molted into a queen at the beginning of the movie 👌👍

    The assumption that they can survive the vacuum of space is misleading. We saw the xenomorph being jettisoned from the Narcissus in Alien and the Sulaco in Aliens. We saw it wriggling for a couple of minutes but actually we never really saw it living in the vacuum. Even Dark Horse took liberties with that when they depicted a living xenomorph crashing through the canopy of a ship in space and killing it's crew. I think the survival of a xenomorph in vacuum is just folklore, to stress the common idea of the toughness of the creature. I think the Queen was simply crushed by the immense pressure in the bottom of the ocean.

    After reading so much Alien comics and working with marine life, I'm sure she is alive. Here are reasons why:
    - if she can survive in space, she probably doesn't have any gasses which would collapse in a depth and killed her
    - when she hit the bottom of the ocean (which was not so deep due to island near by it) she can get easily rid of the chain - in movies we also saw that they use their own blood to do so, or she can just wait that the salt water does its work (rust and break) - it's just a matter of time. Anyway she can still use hibernation mode till better days.
    Fun fact - she lies an eggs on the bottom, big fish come near by, ... baaaam Blade Runner 2049
    Fun fact - Predators didn't forget about her, let the hunt in a deep water begin ;)
