All well and good but i preferred if the amazon and sorceress were slimmer like in the original
Aside from the obvious character design decisions already pointed out, some other things that seem to have changed from the original art direction: * Character transitionary animations - 2:08 * Town portals less choatic(?) looking + environmental illumination - 2:52 , 3:53 * Lightning effects now blue instead of white (similar to Diablo 3), especially noticeable on the chain lightning effect shared by Cairne Stones & Sorceress ability - 3:00 , 3:48 * Tyrael's armor and tweaked to reflect his appearance in Diablo 3, less ragged(?) + pronounced posture - 4:36 * Less saturated color pallet (possibly muddied by video compression), especially noticeable in rogue encampment - 0:21
He's right and everyone I've heard/talked to think the same thing. The new characters are UGLY. I mean the Amazon looks like a buff Jim Carrey... And the barb looks like a saggy old man. It's Aweful.
Everything in the remake looks slightly grey. Like no colors really pop out at all and I get the changes to their outfits but I'm still not a fan of it.
to anyone who hopes they will change the character models to remove the bs censoring of underboob and such should have no expectations because I noticed theyve already completely changed the model for the countess since the original reveal, and it's been "censored" more.
Nothing in the old version bothers me. Models looked a lot sexier back then. New ones are kinda older But definitely more defined. I totally like the new spell effects, especially at night.
I was going to say the same thing! The female characters in the classic version looked a lot more feminine. For some reason in the remake graphics, the facial features and bone structures in the Amazon and Sorceress look...well...masculine. Too angular, too bony, too square. Just not very attractive. Glad someone else noticed it.
@@sethraelthebard5459 Its because new generation doesn't know to draw nicely. I also stuck to old art, movies, games, etc... cause simply, they don't know animate, their animations looks ugly. Staying with classic version of course.
@@sethraelthebard5459 I agree. They look the same but their silhouettes are different or something on top of the obvious cover up of flesh with their outfits.
@@sethraelthebard5459 The remaster Sorceress doesn't looks masculine she looks Native American. Amazon just looks like she is in her 40's or something versus in the original being in her early twenties.
Mostly they aged her for some reason. A lot more lines on her face now. And they turned her lower garment a bit. On the back, it used to be a flap that didn't cover much. Now it looks more like a full skirt from behind.
I actually agree with the more rugged female characters. I don't like when the male chars look like they have been through steel and fire, but female chars always look like they just came out of a beauty parlor...
Yep some of these companies fear backlash from people on twitter. It's ridiculous but i have been seeing more and more people fighting back against it saying not to listen to the minority. Maybe someday this nonsense of dealing with censorship in games will cease.
0:04 Something is odd with the remake sorceress body proportion. Legs looks like they're spread too far apart. Added more detail but made them uglier. Was that the intent?
Of course, they have gone out of their way to make the female characters as unattractive as possible to the main audience of this game, which is young males.
@@StabYourBrain What an idiotic comment:). What you said obviously does not apply here, they are not making a remake, they have said time and again that they are just polishing the graphics and NOT changing anything else.
When I'm playing I'm not really looking at the details, so the remastered doesn't really matter for me... what makes me want to play again is the fact that more people will be playing, keeping the game live and running.
The Amazon needs to rework a bit on her character animation. The original seemed so damn cool plus she wasn't actually swinging the spear, she was posting at a faster pace, the new one is just swinging with a really awkward way which doesn't actually make sense.
I think they could do some gameplay improvement by making Horadrim Scroll (the Radament drop) a manual for cubing stuff, allowing players to check all the recipes in game, instead of alt tabbing to check how to socket an ethereal armor etc
IMO I’ve boiled it down to the remaster’s smooth animations and spell casting looks good but the original has better visibility and strangely looks like it has more detail on the landscape. As far as the character models go the armors are super high def in the remake but lack a certain something as they also seem rather subdued in appearance. I prefer the original character models on a whole as the seem powerful, vibrant and youthful. Whereas the newer models seem aged with a more homely to ugly look about them and the assassin has been made to be a different race entirely, aka wokafied, but I digress it seems to be a mixed bag and I am just glad they have the original graphics available. On an off note I hope they have a Carbot version of the graphics.
In 2000, those graphics were breathtaking. I first played this at ten years old as my first Diablo and I was scared out of my mind, at the time. The ambiance was something my young self had never experienced before. Sure, nowadays It's just pixel art In 2d beautifully done, but back then It felt like everything was In 3d with a lot of details to see.
I quite prefer the old lightning effect with the glowing white beam, 'cause it looks cooler & more powerful. Hope they render it in HD, instead of changing how it looks
People complaining how the characters dont look the same in the remake as in the classic version because theres more detail lol obviously theres more detail, ever think that maybe the classic character model was supposed to look like the remake version but back then you couldnt add all the detail so you barely see much and they could only add so much to a character lol
One thing I found really interesting is how much better the sound design is in the remake. I didn't expect to see them actually do that good of a job with improving the sounds as it was already really good but you can actually tell the difference even with crappy youtube compression.
I dunno... the remade version looks good. everythings nice and high fidelity... but it just loses something the original has. I noticed this when D3 came out... it lacked D1 and D2's grimdark feeling. It felt more cartoony. Putting the D2 remake beside the classic gives me the same feeling... remake doesn't feel grimdark anymore... it feels cartoony.
That's the rose tinted goggles speaking, dude. Resurrected is way darker and grittier then the Origial because of the amazing lighting and shading alone. Have you even seen some of the Gameplay out so far? Cellar of the Tower looks terrifying.
@@Spacewalrus2010 sorry, I meant being sjwd new sorc is afraid of other peoples opinion and thus hides her legs, barb is beefed down, amazon, I don't even know what fate happened to her to deserve this.
Maybe I'm biased, but I prefer the faces of the original. They look sharper, more alive, confident, and with personality. Also, the black in the original is much darker, adding to the sense of mystery and atmosphere, while the remakes appear more smoother and thus cartoonish, like Diablo 3. Please don't make Diablo 3's mistakes.
Looks great. My biggest gripe is how the dark spots are 100% black. When a show is “dark” it doesn’t mean it’s a black screen. They may have took it a bit too far
When Diablo 3 came out: "mimimi the game is too bright and colorful, fuck that, i want D2 back" When Diablo 2 comes out: "mimimi the game is too dark, they took it too far, i'm scared, help"
when i was young, maybe at 10 or 11 years old, i've played the original diablo 2 but i was seeing the remake visuals. Damn, imagination really helps when you're immersed. I cant even believe that the original looked like that.
I could not stop playing this game back in the day. Who needed sleep back then, anyway? But with DIII, I could not even stay playing for more than a few hours at a time. Never compelled to finish it. Already prepaid for the remake. Can't wait!!

Also the new graphics make everything looked air brushed and "fake" i am EXTREMELY HAPPY that they let you switch between graphic versions. That is one of the smartest things i have ever seen a game company do. Good job to them.
Fans of original games always say the original looks better than the remaster.
Goodbye weekends , goodbye life and hello diablo
Remake does look good, though the Original rocks / rock walls etc looks better w darker tones imo, Will have to wait for final reviews
It’s all there! They did a really good job here, props.
Well said, Though the original rocks / rock walls etc looks better w darker tones..As a person that spend countless hours playing it on day 1 it's going to be tough to duplicate the masterpiece.
@@Stratos53100 It's the exact same game, only with updated graphics. They didn't even compare it to the original in this video, they just toggled between Classic and Resurrected Mode. The New graphics are just a layer that runs over the original game.. Mechanically it's the same, but tbf the new graphics look absolutely amazing. Way darker, way more grim and alot more creepy.
@@StabYourBrain I know its the same game, Not all overhauls etc Are worthy of the Original game when its said & done, hopefully it will be.
Just take my damn money and give me this game already!
I don't get why they got the character models so wrong.. there is character art and everything wtf?
So everyone got 15 years older. Barbarian lost 50 pounds of muscle. And they censored the women's clothes. Im going to pass due to the insane censorship for no good reason.
u got a good point.
Exactly and made the Amazon look like a man now and sorceress old and fat. 🤦🏾♂️
changing the character models is insane censorship lol. i mean, i wouldn't buy the game if all it was a graphics update with no new content. you don't want to buy the game because theirs no under boob. so while everyone got 15 years older, you stayed about the same age.
ps- i think the new models could look better but i don't hinge my opinion on the game over perceived censorship.
All well and good but i preferred if the amazon and sorceress were slimmer like in the original
Agreed. They aged the Amazon and the Sorceress. They need to go back to their original ages, and be a bit slimmer.
Exactly and made the Amazon have a mans face and sorceress is old and fat now.
Aside from the obvious character design decisions already pointed out, some other things that seem to have changed from the original art direction:
* Character transitionary animations - 2:08
* Town portals less choatic(?) looking + environmental illumination - 2:52 , 3:53
* Lightning effects now blue instead of white (similar to Diablo 3), especially noticeable on the chain lightning effect shared by Cairne Stones & Sorceress ability - 3:00 , 3:48
* Tyrael's armor and tweaked to reflect his appearance in Diablo 3, less ragged(?) + pronounced posture - 4:36
* Less saturated color pallet (possibly muddied by video compression), especially noticeable in rogue encampment - 0:21
Those brutes looks so furry, i... im going to fight them or hug them?
And the fur is sooo shiny, like they just used shampoo, conditioner, and blow dried.
IKR!!

I loved the Barbarian footage it was very well putted, like ~10sec in a 5:24 minute video!
never thought the remake would make them look detailed but ugly

@@Pher0cious you say like that's a bad thing
Who cares what they look like up close your gonna have bad ass armor covering those wrinkles
So.. the pixeled ones are better? Cmon
He's right and everyone I've heard/talked to think the same thing. The new characters are UGLY. I mean the Amazon looks like a buff Jim Carrey... And the barb looks like a saggy old man. It's Aweful.
Love that little head turn at 0:36
It's those little details
Everything in the remake looks slightly grey. Like no colors really pop out at all and I get the changes to their outfits but I'm still not a fan of it.
It looks better in the other videos I've seen. It looks particularly gray here. I wonder if they messed with the video options before recording.
to anyone who hopes they will change the character models to remove the bs censoring of underboob and such should have no expectations because I noticed theyve already completely changed the model for the countess since the original reveal, and it's been "censored" more.
Remastered barbarian looks like he rocking dad bod rather than being barbaric muscular.
I feel like im the only one that likes the barbarians new look
Exactly and they even censored the sorceress and made her old and fat now. 🤦🏾♂️
Also the Amazon looks like a 40 year old man now 🤮
He looks like David Batista to me...
@@AstaIsAMonster You're either trolling, or your expectations of the human body are ridiculously fucking warped
@@AstaIsAMonster "old and fat"? i have to ask, what does a fit and healthy person look like to you, if you consider her fat?
The original Sorceress looks gorgeous, the remake looks, well..... Mama-San??? 😜
same for Manazon
@@MisterNobody608 Disagree. BTW the Barbarian looks like a woman. Prove me wrong.
What have they done to Amazon? I'm gonna have to spend hundreds of hours on just on modding...
Mod yourself a building and jump of it please
They were so much more creative back in the day
Clearly they do not have courage to leave old sexy costumes.
Yep some of these companies fear backlash from people on twitter. It's ridiculous but i have been seeing more and more people fighting back against it saying not to listen to the minority. Maybe someday this nonsense of dealing with censorship in games will cease.
I love how the new version looks exactly how I remember it. I still love the old graphics though.
Well good news you will be able to switch between the og and new graphics in the game
0:04 Something is odd with the remake sorceress body proportion. Legs looks like they're spread too far apart. Added more detail but made them uglier. Was that the intent?
Of course, they have gone out of their way to make the female characters as unattractive as possible to the main audience of this game, which is young males.
When a remake of a game you made 20 (!) years ago generates far more interest than most of your new games, you know you are doing something wrong...
Or you're doing something right with the Remake. Everything's a matter of perspective.
@@StabYourBrain What an idiotic comment:). What you said obviously does not apply here, they are not making a remake, they have said time and again that they are just polishing the graphics and NOT changing anything else.
4:24 No sound effect for cage crashing, but then a sound effect and animation for Cain hitting his head??
The women are bigger and the men are smaller lol!
Just like in today's society.
Big women like small men
@@scostat ROFL you literally stole my comment!
Oh the BGM, instantly bring all the good memories.
0:23 the textures look pretty muddy in the remake the classic is better and has more nastalgia
Same, i hope they fix all these visual issues. But if not the mod community willl do the job, as they say that the game will be modding friendly.
Are you high? The new one is brighter by a large margin. Take the rose tinted glasses off.

First elite mob, and bam! Unique item 😋 This is why i love Diablo 1 and 2
I'm glad you can play with the classic look, because I have too much nostalgic love for it to accept anything different.
You can play the classic look since the game was released
Remake ( X )
Remastered ( O )
2:17 the transition is perfectly aligned
I don't remember the classic being so bad. I guess the brain adjusted the bad graphics when we were kids.
But you would have the best graphics when you are adult.
I just played it and it's not that blury like in the video. I played in 800x600 on 1080p screen and it was not blury at all.
RUclips makes D2 look worse, it looks better when u play the classic
modern resolution plus in old days the game was on a CTR old monitor that is the best way to play the old games.
I quite prefer the old lightning effect with the glowing white beam, 'cause it looks cooler & more powerful. Hope they render it in HD, instead of changing how it looks
I love that it's exactly the same game it just looks a bit better and it's going to be on console yayyyyyyyy
But was that not the problem with WC III reforged
People complaining how the characters dont look the same in the remake as in the classic version because theres more detail lol obviously theres more detail, ever think that maybe the classic character model was supposed to look like the remake version but back then you couldnt add all the detail so you barely see much and they could only add so much to a character lol
So Sorceress with short and Mister Amazon. Nice improvment.
Is this game gonna be the 2021 WIII Reforged heir?
One thing I found really interesting is how much better the sound design is in the remake. I didn't expect to see them actually do that good of a job with improving the sounds as it was already really good but you can actually tell the difference even with crappy youtube compression.
I dunno... the remade version looks good. everythings nice and high fidelity... but it just loses something the original has. I noticed this when D3 came out... it lacked D1 and D2's grimdark feeling. It felt more cartoony. Putting the D2 remake beside the classic gives me the same feeling... remake doesn't feel grimdark anymore... it feels cartoony.
the animations are too soft and smooth, also characters look "diversified" for no reason
That's the rose tinted goggles speaking, dude. Resurrected is way darker and grittier then the Origial because of the amazing lighting and shading alone. Have you even seen some of the Gameplay out so far? Cellar of the Tower looks terrifying.

lol they nerfed the amazons jugs : (
Maybe I'm biased, but I prefer the faces of the original. They look sharper, more alive, confident, and with personality. Also, the black in the original is much darker, adding to the sense of mystery and atmosphere, while the remakes appear more smoother and thus cartoonish, like Diablo 3. Please don't make Diablo 3's mistakes.
original characters looks cooler, less bulky, and younger
Looks great. My biggest gripe is how the dark spots are 100% black. When a show is “dark” it doesn’t mean it’s a black screen. They may have took it a bit too far
Thats why items have +lightradius. It may actually now will become an affix that brings something lol
When Diablo 3 came out: "mimimi the game is too bright and colorful, fuck that, i want D2 back"
When Diablo 2 comes out: "mimimi the game is too dark, they took it too far, i'm scared, help"
It looks good.. but we will see.. rip wc3 rm
There’s something about the sprite graphics that make the original so satisfying. Same with the original Age of empires games.
Have it preordered. Can't wait. I don't give a shit, this is all we wanted from Blizzard.
when i was young, maybe at 10 or 11 years old, i've played the original diablo 2 but i was seeing the remake visuals. Damn, imagination really helps when you're immersed. I cant even believe that the original looked like that.
Holy crap I am so stoked for this!
I could not stop playing this game back in the day. Who needed sleep back then, anyway? But with DIII, I could not even stay playing for more than a few hours at a time. Never compelled to finish it. Already prepaid for the remake. Can't wait!!
IMHO Something is of with them altering the original characters so much instead of just "remastering" them. It is a remaster after all. But the gameplay looks fantastic and I have already pre-ordered it. It would make me really happy if they went back and made them all look even more like the originals tho.
