That was great mate. I recently brought my 2016 MQ glx so this is exactly what I needed to know. I'm subbing too, so hopefully you continue to make Triton tip vids. Cheers from NZ 👍
Hey! Great video, thanks. If I wanted to flush but use distilled water how would I do this? Use an air line in the hose and then fill with distilled? I’m not sure my countryside Uk water is so good!
Hey mate, when replacing the radiator, if i try and plug the transmission lines, would i still need to have to top up the auto transmission oil? Will there be oil in the old radiator that will be removed from the system, resulting in the need of a top up?
Got my triton back from the mechanic a while ago and my overflow cap is missing and the tank is bone dry. Checked the radiator and the level is about an inch and a half below the cap. When i get a replacement cap and flush and add new coolant do I just fill up the overflow tank as well? Thanks for this guide
The coolant in my 2015 mq triton is red, but i got thr blue coolant in this video. Can i flush it out, and replace it with the blue? Is it ok if theres a little bit of red left in the system like in the overflow tank or other parts of the system?
ok thanks@@driftcarsjp maybe i am overthinking the need for an exact 50/50 mix. I will be changing my radiator (first time ever doing it and coolant flush). Would I drain the old coolant, replace the radiator, then do the flush in this video and add the concentrate using the same method in this video? Really appreciate your reply.
Hi mate how’s it going, just wondering if you have had to replace the head on your triton, I’ve been told you have to take the whole engine out to do this, have you heard of it’s being done with having to do that. Cheers mate
Hey bud does the overflow bottle empty out when you drain it at the bottom or does that stay full? And with the concentrate do you add anymore water or from bottle straight into radiator. Cheers
hello friend, good video. I did the steps you did but I have a doubt when you take out the hose that goes to the heater and add water. That water is regular pipe or is it water without minerals. And another question, how much refrigerant did you use? greetings from Chile
Hi I have an issue where only the passenger side of the triton heating system is hot and the driver side is a good few degrees cooler. I have checked the air mix valves in the vent ducts and they are operating correctly. could this be a air lock that is causing my issue ? model is a 2016 dual climate zone, any advice would be appreciated.
Hi could be air in the system. Most likely is that one of the the dual climate vent doors is not opening or closing correctly allowing cool air to come through when it should be closed. You can check this under the dash by adjusting the temp settings and watching the motors operate the heater flaps.
@@driftcarsjp thanks I have tried this and removed the motors and manually operated with still the same effect. i'll try changing the coolant. thanks for the response.
I used red coolant in my triton was oem penrite stuff is that ok or should I flush the system and out the green or blue stuff through it ? It’s a mn 2013
@@driftcarsjp Awesome, thanks for the reply. I'm just a bit weary on filling it up with concentrate but if that one bottle was enough to top up the system, it'd be better than filling it up with only one bottle of premix? Doesn't the concentrate need to be 50/50 or so with water?
Hey mate, I had my coolant levels get pretty low due to a leak but it's since been fixed. But now I've got only heat coming from the passenger side and not the driver side (duel climate). I've tried bleeding the system and nothing's changed. Anything I can do?
Hi mate, i refilled the coolant but only got about 4L in, there was a fair bit of the old coolant coming up the funnel and mixing together, is this gonna be an issue? All my old coolant didnt drain properly for some reason
@@driftcarsjp Distilled water, unlike ordinary water, is free of all impurities: mineral salts and organic substances. It undergoes complete purification, during which all components are evaporated from the liquid, except for H2O molecules. In nature, distilled water is found as condensation in clouds and falls to the ground when it rains.

Perfect 👌👌 just what I needed cheers mate
Thanks for your videos pal, really good 👍
Great man thanks! Does it matter using tap water over distilled for for like salt/calcium build up?
Depending on where you live. I'm in Sydney and the tap water is ok here.
Have you done a video showing how to change the belts. Both the power steering snd the serpentine?
Hi, great video. I'm located in Malaysia and my triton was manufactured in Thailand without heater in the air conditioning system. What to do?
G'day mate did you add anymore water? Or what's left in the system is enough?
Great video mate subscribed
Thank you for sharing
Hey mate do you know what cooler the dealer uses?
Great vid by the way.
Hi mate I have a mq triton I have a lot of water sloshing in the dash have you had this problem heater?
It's air in the cooling system. Make sure you bleed the system as in the video with heater on full hot.
Thanks mate!
Thank you 👍
Hey mate, when replacing the radiator, if i try and plug the transmission lines, would i still need to have to top up the auto transmission oil? Will there be oil in the old radiator that will be removed from the system, resulting in the need of a top up?
You shouldn't have to top up the auto as you won't lose much oil.
Did you drain and refill the expansion tank?
@@My12hooves you can drain or just top up

Yep just refill with the new coolant
blue coolant - for use with ALUMINUM or CAST IRON engines. Brand in common - Castrol Radicool 👍👍👍
Thank you legend
if i am replacing the entire radiator with a new one, is it best to just use a premix coolant for ease?
Pre mix you are just paying for water
Hi, thnx for video. Have you got one with the location and/or change of the thermostat please?
No sorry not yet
You don't want to bother with that. it's a difficult job and will take a lot of time and tools.
The coolant in my 2015 mq triton is red, but i got thr blue coolant in this video. Can i flush it out, and replace it with the blue? Is it ok if theres a little bit of red left in the system like in the overflow tank or other parts of the system?
Yep. Try and flush as much out as possible but if a small amount or red coolant is still I'm the system it will he fine it won't cause any issues.
Just wonderin is the orocess the same for triton 2014 model its a similar build just wodnering if the process is the smae
Yep same process
Silly question; the hose you took off, is that the one where the hot water goes from the motor towards the internal core heater?
Yes it's the heater hose.
@@driftcarsjp sorry, but under normal conditions the water flow is into the cabin, right?
Is it safe to flush the system with tap water
Yep depends on what the quality of the tap water is where your located.
@@driftcarsjp Sweet as mate might just use the tap
Hi, I have 2016 triton mq 2.4 diesel my coolant tanks stays empty even when topping up, any idea what the problem could be?
How do you know if the amount of water left in the system will make up a 50/50 combination with the new concentrate being added?
You don't! and you will never have an exact 50/50 mix
ok thanks@@driftcarsjp maybe i am overthinking the need for an exact 50/50 mix. I will be changing my radiator (first time ever doing it and coolant flush). @subbiebuddy9634 when you have the radiator out you can flush the engine through the upper and lower radiator hoses.
Hey mate had any dramas with ac not blowing cold air and weak fan speed hissing sound from behind dash when engaged
No not yet.. week fan can be fan speed controller and check ac gas for not cold.

Will this flush work the same on a 2015 Triton 2.5L 4D56 engine? Heater hose goes straight into oil cooler so slightly different. Thanks. 😊

The 5 from the bottle and probably another 6litres

Our tap water is ok to use in Australia. Use about 4 litres of coolant.

Yes you can remove it and flush it out..
Is there not a block drain plug so you don't not have to do this ?
There is but you would find its more of a pain to get too.
You can take out the thermostat and drain the block that way.
Don't you need to dilute coolant concentrate for a diesel engine?
It is diluted, as when you flush the engine with water not all of the water will drain out of the block. That's the water your mixing it with.
