This is AMAZING!!! And so easy. Why aren there more like and views on this video??? Works for even a serial plant murderer like me! If you don’t have mason jars, any container with plastic wrap and a rubber band will work
‘Me and mommy had no hope of finding a good video to learn how to propagate our string of bananas 🍌 but you were our hope!’ -Alina, 7 years old My daughter and I love your video and are excited to try this method out with our plant- thanks for including the detail on where/how to cut, as well!
Now this is an original idea I haven’t seen anyone else doing it this way and all of my “string of” plants are dealing with root rot so I’m trying to save what I can and propagate them so please wish me luck! ❤️🌱❤️
I researched everything except propagation before I ordered this plant. Just received it in the mail and it's beautiful. One piece with 2 vines on it broke off in shipping, so here I am watching your video. Thank you!!!
Thank you very much! For the first time, I feel confident that I can propagate, grow, and KEEP my "Strings Of." I just got Dolphins and Hearts. I'm even excited to get up this morning and DO THIS! I love water propagating! I 've never seen anyone do this before for strings! Where've you been all my plant-loving life? :)
I had mine sitting in soil and I was misting everyday. They have tiny roots but yours in a week are way longer than mine I just ran down stairs and put them on this so hopefully that speeds it up. These are cutting from my mom so I hope they work out because I don’t have any more
They look super healthy! I have string of pearls I’m just about to prop them in water just now. Such an insightful video but one question, where do you suggest I sit the prop bottle? I have it under my red and blue grow lights will that work too?
It helps if the aerial roots are touching the water. I did not change the water every time. The roots get very long very fast so if you pot up quickly then you shouldn’t need to change the water unless you plan on keeping them in water for a long time.
i am currently propagating my string of pearls in water, and they have successfully grown what appears to be a pretty good root system, so now im thinking of potting them in soil. but i am confused, when i plant them in soil, should i keep them moist for the first two weeks or just water the soil ONLY when it's dry? since you know, they're succulents. what do you suggest?
I would keep them moist for a few weeks and slowly wean them off being entirely wet. The roots they will grow from water propagation are a little different than soil roots and will need time to acclimate to a different setting. When potting up I would just be careful that the soil isn’t too wet. If the top of the soil stays wet for too long then it will cause rot on the stems that are sitting directly on top.

how'd it go??
I know this is late, but blend up a aloe vera leaf and water with hydrogen peroxide lacto bacillus bacteria helps a lot too google it
Great video. I like that you showed what it looks like a month later.

Thank you I needed this! My string of pearls got blown away during a heavy storm and all I have left is tiny little piece. I hope this works!
Youre a wizard! Thanks for this, definitely going to try tomorrow.. yoube given me hope! 😊
Yay! Thanks for this video. Doing it now exactly your way. I have bananas & pearls too! So excited
Very cool way to propagate. Thanks so much for sharing.
Straight to the point. Love it. Ty
Nice sharing. I learned something new. Full watched and L500. Thanks for the share. Cheers!
Such a great video! I'm going to try it with string of bananas right now.
Wow! Lovely

Do string of hearts too have these small aerial roots?
@@zeefashaikh1266 yes they do
Great video, thanks!
Very cool thx!!

I think under grow lights would be great. I had mine in a bright indirect light area.
Do the roots need to touch the water? Do you change water everytime?

Could you do this in perlite?
Great idea thank you awh 🌿💛

@@photosyntheguys8032 okay, that makes so much sense! thank you so much:)
I like it
How long did it take to start rooting in water?
Once a cutting has rooted in the water, what size planter would you recommend planting it in?
I would recommend a small pot to let the roots establish, maybe a 2inch pot and then increase size overtime as it establishes
I have had mine in water for 2 weeks and i still can’t see any roots
It's been 3 weeks and i can't see root... What. Do i doo???
