I don’t play smash bros but the fact they included the original Jenova track in it fills me with soooo much joy!! So glad people get to enjoy this absolute banger!!!
Jenova is such perfect music for a match of smash. The game starts and you have that quiet tune when no fightings going on, and then it picks up as the match begins and picks up more further into the match.

This is mostly attributed by how Sakurai stated Minecraft music was the hardest challenges in the history of the series On the flipside Dragon Quest has the least, as in none at all, amount of remixes. This is mostly attributed to how Square Enix does not own the rights to Dragon Quest music.
That Aerith theme makes me wanna cry and I've never played FF7. Really makes me wish we got another one winged angel remix but hey this is all already so perfect its fine without the cherry on top
JENOVA is unfairly good for boss music, and creating a remix for it is a risky move. I mean, so was the other pieces, but JENOVA, imo, is a once in a generation of gaming piece of music. Same with One Winged Angel (2 in one game, damn). They are incredibly hard to remix and bring in that magic that made the original so special.

I’ve called it because I knew Nintendo and Square Enix were going to add a lot more music tracks from both Final Fantasy VII and Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.
They did so much justice to all the remixes music, and they chose some pretty phenomenal pieces to add to Smash. Absolutely blown away and so thankful for the hell Sakurai and Sora Ltd. went through to get 9 tracks, and remix 4 of them. This selection of music is nothing short of an absolute masterpiece. Listed in order from favorite to least favorite (even though I absolutely adore every piece): 1. Advent: One Winged Angel 2. Opening - Bombing Mission 3. Cosmo Canyon Remix 4. JENOVA 5. One Winged Angel 6. Let the Battles Begin 7. Main Theme of Final Fantasy VII 8. Aerith’s theme (thank god they put Aerith and not Aeris) 9. Fight On! 10. Those Who Fight (AC Version) 11. Those Who Fight Further (AC Version) I do think the AC battle and boss themes are the weakest, but are by no means bad in any way. I simply don’t get the same level of enjoyment as I do the other pieces. I do love Aerith’s theme, however I don’t get the same level of emotional attachment as I do the pieces listed above it. Last but not least, every version of One Winged Angel is legitimate perfection.
They should have added North Crater theme considering North Crater is represented, although technically we do get two songs from North Crater. The North Crater theme was more iconic than Midgar's music and Aerith's theme in my opinion. They really made Aerith's theme shine better than ever before though.
As happy as I am that FF's inclusion feels more like the bare minimal it had been since the last game, I am a tad disappointed to see that despite being a series that spans over 30 years, Final Fantasy's inclusion to Smash is pretty much entirely limited to only FFVII. I mean, yeah, I know it's the most popular one, but there are fourteen, soon fifteen, other main titles in the series.
True :/ Which other FF would you have liked to see represented? Personally FFXIII because playing as Lightning would have been epic! Or FFVI for Terra. Smash needs more mages.

And it's also not because if Sabin was in Smash, he could have suplexed people, or a train onto the other fighters. And yes, if 6 was represented, the fighter would have most likely been Kefka or Terra. Otherwise, maybe 13 or 15. Both are the latest games.
Since it’s fairly newer it’s hard to get rights for those songs, which is why the majority of songs are taken from Advent Children or just remixes of the originals.
While I definitely understand your viewpoint (esp. when looking at how many songs other franchises in Smash have), I'm grateful for the songs they were able to add, with a couple new renditions!
I actually hate one of these Osts 😡😡😡😡 Why Aerith 😭😭😭😭 Before the remake. But seriously it rare for me to actually feel the music and final fantasy accomplished that.

Aerith’s theme was a surprise, and gave me chills. Loved their remake of it!
I get the Nintendo/Smash vibe from the new arrangements and hearing the AC versions of the songs really digs the movie out of the old memory card

I don't like the cosmo canyon remix one to be honest. this version feel generic and forgetable. the ac themes only work in the movie
