Awesome video got my non-running bike to run. Amazing. Thank you. My bike was a 2000 YZ 125, but they have the same carburetor as the CR so the video was great help.
Great vid. I’ve been working past day on my son’s 2006 Husqvarna SM 125. Broken gas wire. What a mess! Previous owner had customized it for street stunts. With this vid I could finally identify the carb as 2002-2004 Honda CR125/250 MTX 38 4.0. And gas handle was from Yamaha. What a mess trying to find right parts with google pictures
I pulled my 2001 cr125 out of the junk pile and hope it works after 12+ years of being in the weather. I cleaned the carb today but needs all the plastics, tires, throttle, and brakes checked out. Hopefully this weekend I can make time to ride it and start ordering parts.
Nice video ! Curious if these Mikuni TMX carbs came stock on these bikes or not ? Some blogs out there saying they did, and the Honda parts guys seem to have no idea, even when I give them the serial #... I guess I just want to make sure I'm getting the right rebuild for mine. It's the same year as your bike and appears to be the same carb, even though it doesn't specify with a model # ... Any help would be appreciated.
I haven't personally done it, but if the yz has 38mm on it now I'm thinking it would swap. But possible clearance issues? Probably have to mess with the jetting as well. 👍
I actually have to do some work to that carb soon. There's a small hidden gasket on those carbs. Not sure when I'll get a chance to get to it, hopefully soon.
Yeah, that can be one of the hardest parts to do. The metal tab just needs very minor adjustment and it makes a big difference in the height. Unfortunately it's just trial and error.
@@AdamzGarage my son bought a broke one. Rebuilt the engine. We have spark. We didn’t get fuel. I thought it was one of the hoses. Believe I have it right but still won’t start up. Maybe the Reed’s in wrong. I don’t know. Kinda lost. Watched your video. It helps but still stuck
@@wallymorgan2524 yeah basically as far as the hoses go, should just be your gas line, the line that comes off the bottom should just be an overflow line that just goes down by your shock, doesn't hook up to anything, then the other port by the pull knob should just be a vent line not hooked up to anything.I think your headed in the right direction with the Reed's good 🤞
For sure that jet block gasket is a must. Don't know why it doesn't come with kit. Jd jetting has it. I also used Yamaha s7needle ,clip on the 2 notch. Woke that dude up,supper responsive
It actually ran really well. At first it didn't want to start, but it had been cold, so I used the choke. Started up took it down the trail and ran nice.
@@AdamzGarage hey my bike isn’t starting and I haven’t cleaned or out touched carb but ordered the rebuild kit has same carb as cr but it’s a yz125 apparently it’s used in the older yz but I have a 125 so if I rebuild would that help ?
@@JayWithTheAmg it definitely can't hurt either way. A rebuild at the very least will help it run better. If your bike won't start at all, make sure your getting spark and have compression. If you have that then it should be a fuel problem.
it should definitely help for sure. there's also a small gasket that they don't show on the exploded view on the honda site. This gasket is known to be the cause of a lot of the problems with these carbs. Ill see if I can find a link for you. its hard to find. I think there's a guy on ebay that sells them.
We had the same problem with my son's, running rich more than likely. I would recommend trying to re- jet a size. I just ordered a couple different size jets for my son's CR. He just started riding it recently since I did the Carb rebuild and we're having the same problem, excessive smoke and oil dripping from exhaust . You could try to change your fuel mixture like you said and see what happens 40:1 isn't to bad. We run 32:1.
@@AdamzGarage I think the other issue for me is I'm running it more on the "trails" and not staying hard on the throttle. I did add more gasoline to the tank to lighten up the oil and messed with the idle screw.. seemed like it reduced the smoke and oil spewing out the exhaust. Where can I purchase a carb rebuild kit? The bike has a Mikuni carb, fmf pipe and I live in the high desert about 3,800 to 4,000 elevation.. if that matters. Ty

Hey so if I buy a used ‘00 cr125 for my 00 yz125 it would fit perfect even tho it looks a bit different?

Great tutorial , Awesome !
will the rebuild kit on a 2002 be different ? i’m looking at one on amazon and the gaskets look slightly different
Change the gasket join man!
Its the only problem on the carb
Pilot jet/main jet number?
i have a 94 cr125 with the stock carb, all it says on it is oem,i wonder if its the same setup, looks similar, this helps alot tho, thanks
I'm sure a 94 is very similar. Good luck with your project!
Hi there I just wanted to know what size pilot and main jet those carb bring from factory??
It usually depended on where the bike was being sold. Altitude has an effect on jetting. So depending where your riding can make difference.
Could you tell me where those hoses go on the carb asap
I'll run out to the garage tomorrow and take a look, been awhile since I worked on the cr
