I am a gay man, and I take no offense to the way he used the word "gay" which he did, meaning not cool, or dumb. Let's remember that the word has gone through different meanings. The first meaning is “joyful”, “carefree”, “full of mirth”, or “bright and showy”. In the 17th century, the meaning of immorality, or one that is addicted to pleasure. Then in the early parts of the 19th century, the word gay referred to a man who slept with a lot of women. In the 1920s the word extended to men not just having a lot of sex with women but men as well, and finally in the 50s the association with the word as we know it today meaning a homosexual man, while still keeping its origins in “joyful”, “carefree”, “full of mirth”, or “bright and showy”. In the late '80s into the '90s, we started to use the word as slang meaning not cool, stupid, or dumb, which can very much be, especially today, conceded derogatory in the fermentation slang term. I feel that it is all about what the use of the term means. What is the conversation, Does the user mean the use of the word "gay" in its slang use as derogatory towards homosexual men. It's all about context.
There is also nothing wrong with letting someone know that if you do not like the use of the word they would not mind using it in that manner. That is no different than you watching your language in front of grandma.

@@dmate9889 You re-listened and still didn´t get his point? Homosexuality for him is part of a general worldview that sees sexual relations as sterile acts of entertainment between identical individuals. Treating your spouse as if he or she is exactly the same as you, is therefore somewhat "gay". The same goes for red pillers who promote and engage in hookup culture (sterile sex for entertainment only). I agree that this is a bit far fetched, but it´s an interesting observations.
What I found more convincing though, is the pushing back against language control. As he said, it used to be a rather harmless and almost childish insult, and now the culture has changed it into an agressive homophopic word. I think there he actually has a point: The majority of people even now don´t really find this word really that offensive. A small minority does, and dictates everyone else that this is a terrible word that can neve be used. But we should not bend our words so easily just to satisfy current trends or screeming activists.

Each of us treasure those trips. But when you are a big family you have more than enough family time. When you are not from a big family and especially if you are an only child. The concept that kids of large families are missing out on parental attention is kind of funny to us. The best thing about large families is that your parents can’t helicopter parent. I don’t even know what else I have taken that string of a stance on, but I’m sure there has been something else. But I am grateful when he pushes for things that matter to him also, we don’t have any sense of competition in our family life, we agree on things almost always and we have grown together well over the 7 years we’ve been together and we have only argued heavily over schooling and everything else we find an easy conclusion through communication or one of us just not caring and the other caring. I make decorative decisions on the inside of the house; he makes those decisions on the outside and we both have to agree on the porch and garage lol we laugh when we even talk about it and end up having to cave to the agreed upon territory. It’s fun lol if he says he wants to do something to the yard, and I say I don’t like it, he says he is doing it anyways and we laugh lol same happens for inside. Ugh I’m so grateful for him. The problem is this feminine desire for equity, wealth distribution, all voices being heard and so on should be confined to a home, because when these seemingly loving things are pushed on the outside world we find our self in a situation where a tyrannical government (like a controlling mother and a abusive father) attempts to make it reality, I didn't want to type a essay but I hope you can understand what I'm saying, your desire for "wealth distribution" may only manifest in telling the kids to share their toy, your desire for all voices being heard might only manifest in telling one child not to shut down their sibling or give the younger one a opportunity to speak.

@DadsCigaretteRun like most things it is, until it isn't. The problem is finding someone else who has figured out you have more say in who you want to love then anything else.
The sparks come and go, passion ebbs and flows, paths wander etc. With desire and effort you find that love is a gift and sparks, passion and direction are decisions you make consciously which creates the love you want. Many people want sparks, passion as a basis for love which is a hollow endeavor.

Ok....and you think you are going to find the right person who wants to grow with you on your first try in high school? What if they start growing in the wrong direction and it is massively to your detriment? Do you stay with them and let them drown you? Will you stay with them for 15 years while they ruin your life waiting for them to right themselves and finally change themselves into the person you deserve?
No. Because you will be rewarding many of their bad behaviors, and that is the ultimate participation trophy.
The biggest thing that changes people is consequences for their bad behavior and eventually they can change hopefully.

The way jack ended it so abruptly was so gay. They were getting into such a good discussion, I wish it would’ve gone on just a tad bit longer on that topic

Graham, thank you for this interview. I have not watched the whole thing yet but 39 minutes in and enjoying it very much.
Saw your video discussing how you two are traveling to do these interviews but had no idea that you were getting access to this quality of people to interview.
    Keep it up.

You guys have too many plugs throughout your podcasts. I was listening on Spotify and there were 5 ad plugs in under 20 minutes into the podcast. RUINS the flow of the show. Which is why I quit tuning in. Have the first 5 minutes dedicated to ads or split it in thirds. Beginning, middle, and end. Will help retain viewers. Just letting ya'll know. Other than this I like the podcast.

Why did they derail Michael on his points on the Whatever Podcast? Saying that's gay is in no means a new term, so why focus on it? That was indeed gay. There was no closing point because they got offending for the people that weren't there!!!

    • @Theblondebass1
      @Theblondebass1 12 дней назад +2

They said they want a diverse line up of guests but by doing that it means you won't agree with half or more of your guests which means you have to allow them to say the things you disagree with and let them finish.

Graham saying that you'll just know if one person feels more strongly wins won't work with kids. You can't discuss each scenario before marriage to know what you'll potentially do

We need to get away from being afraid to tell people when they are in error. It is helpful and beneficial to lovingly tell people they are wrong because it establishes that there is a "right" somewhere to be found, a truth that someone needs to come to.
