I actually like the standard pickups more! Sounds more 'telecaster'y. The FSR is rounder, more produced sound. More like a Strat.

Difference was more noticeable when driven; FSR voice was tighter and more focused.

Not shure, but I had the impression, that the nocasters emphased the difference between the Pickup-Positions better than the originals.

The orange sounds warmer to me. Not as sharp. Either one is great, no surprise. I love my 2006 MIM tele.

There is more information that you could give us like the difference in DC resistance and what kind of magnets. I hear a little more mid in the costume shop I'm a little more bright twang in the standard pickups. But it's nothing that you couldn't adjust with the tone controls of your amp. Both sound very much tele and both sound fine. I think the whole tone discussion is a bit overrated. Jimi Hendrix sounded like Jimi Hendrix on whatever guitar he played. Whether it was cheap acoustic or a fender or a gibson.

Clean, the orange sounds better more three dimensional. With gain, the red one sounds better, more clearer.

I like the player series pickups better as they sound a bit more "humbuckerish" and more likelable to my tastes. The nocasters are a great set though.

Great comparison because both pickups are alnico III.

Interesting comparison but I understand a maple fretboard will generally sound a bit brighter than a pau ferro one. Would therefore have been interesting to compare the FSR Butterscotch Blonde Tele with the roasted maple neck/maple fretboard against the standard Player Tele. I'd still say the Custom Shop pickups sound better though, not that this should surprise anyone.
