The original version is much different and darker than this one. SPOILER ALERT- The priest was the main villain and our main character was never related to the ubume nor she and toru were siblings. The original had three victims Yoko (who is the ubume in this version, was a normal girl in old version), Minah and Erene (yes minah and erene were different individuals but they were siblings) We first play as Minah and then as Erene who starts working at the bathouse searching for her sister who used to work at the same bathhouse, who went missing. The final reveal is that the priest during his prime had a secret relation with a lady but she got pregnant with his son. The priest killed the lady so that his act of infedility isn't out in public, but the women delivers his son before she was killed thus she becomes the Ubume and her son is trapped in basement by the priest. The priest needed 3 female sacrifices to free himself from the curse and the landlord helps him by luring girls to the bath house. Yoko, Minha (both dead) and Erene was about to be sacrificed. The ending depends on whether you free the son or not who's locked in the basement. If you don't free him , you become a sacrifice and the ubume is released in the outside world looking for vengeance, killing everyone that comes in her way. If you free the son, he burns the priest and landlord to death as his revenge for confining him his whole life and we escape the burning bathouse with the son.
Also if y'all didn't notice and shub didn't notice it either, that woman who was asking for milk is erena and toru's grandmother since she was saying that "give me my daughter's bracelet back" And that bracelet was yoko's. She even said her daughter's name is yoko. She was also shown in the last ending at 02:08:16
