Trust me. THEY ALL SUCK! Not an apple fan but all this Android crap is getting on my nerve! 😡 Google has problems ppl have been complaining about for years. THERE HAS BEEN ZERO ACKNOWLEDGEMENT FROM THEM! Apple is not without sin, but I think they are more responsible. I'm the only Android user in the house. I'm strongly considering making that dreaded leap I swore to NEVER make.

I think when it comes to device choice, you cannot afford to make emotional decision. The devides you choose must serve you at the end of the day. For many people, this will differ and while android would be perfect for one person, Apple would better suit another. So you really must look at what your needs are and make the decision based on that alone. Don't care about the company if it doesn't serve your needs because trust me, they do not care about you.

I have the same problem, and thankfully resolved following your method. Samsung makes great hardware, but lousy software. My phone is paired to many other devices such as my car, my headset etc, and never had such problems unlike my S3 Frontier. It cannot be separated from my iPhone else it would either disconnect and unable to reconnect again (time to reset!) or it will reconnect (80% of the time).

Let me add my experience... When I switched from Samsung to Xiaomi device, I couldn't connect my gear S3 at all. Tried all your steps, but still didn't work.
In order to get it done, I had to get into developer mode and then turn of MIUI optimization in developer options. Only after that I managed to set it up following your instructions.

For Samsung S21 Ultra 5G users. I finally figured it out! Months without using my watch was so ready to give up. While it was stuck pairing I unpaired the blue tooth, went to my watch which showed the disconnection, was able to scroll down and found a "?". I pressed that and I was able to get through settings of the watch and I RESET it. Boom, watch started up, pairing began and with a few seconds it was done. Holy shit finally. Apparently watch can pair to new phone but the watch doesn't like the "old phone" stuff on it. Must be reset.

@Fylosofy I have a Galaxy Watch3 and a Galaxy S20 +5G. I had a Galaxy S9+ that paired perfectly with the watch. I have done all your steps several time along with suggestions to clear cache (as others in this thread have mentioned) in Galaxy Wearables and deleting all my bluetoothed connected items (as a referenced link in this thread advise). Still no luck. I can't believe how difficult it is to pair the same manufacturers devices. Any suggestions on next steps?

As in this video, the pairing process between my Samsung Galaxy Smart Watch (46 mm, model SM-R800) and my Samsung S23+ phone would hang at the last of the 4 dots on the phone screen's pairing process. After updating all software and all apps, the result was the same. Finally, I uninstalled the Galaxy Wearable app and reinstalled it. To be safe, I then shut off the watch and turned it back on, and I rebooted my phone. Then I started the pairing prcess again. This time, I had extra questions to answer because of the new Wearable app. The pairing process still took a while to finish the fourth dot on the phone screen's pairing process, but it ultimately worked.

Sorry to hear that. This is just one fix because none of the fixes I saw worked for me and this is the one that did.
Just to make sure, you turned off the wifi while pairing and made sure to remove the watch from the Bluetooth paired list?
You can also tap and hole on the wearable app and go to app info then tap on clear cache.
Because you updated your phone, there could be an issue on the Gear watch plugin which gets installed so just try and make sure it has all permissions granted and make sure it is running when you pair.

This is insane. New watch and fresh factory reset on my phone and it won't connect. How did this product pass QA testing???

Thanks for the tips. In my case, my watch could connect for calls and audio but not for any data to be transferred and s health also wasn't updating even though the watch was technically connected
