Why You Should Clean Your Shoes In The Washing Machine

- The comment section floods with questions, debates and disagreements about washing your sneakers in the wash, so in today's Shoe Care Academy we walk you through exactly why this method is safe on most sneakers. We do NOT put all sneakers in the washing machine, but mesh/ knit/ canvas and leather sneakers are perfect candidates for the washing machine and this is hands down the best way to give your sneakers a deep clean. Tune into this video to hear why you should use the washing machine and the benefits that go with it.
For today's episode of Shoe Care Academy we took on these Mica Green Air Max 1s using the RESHOEVN8R Signature Cleaning Kit. Now we did something a little different in this episode... We cleaned not 1, but both sneakers on camera to show you the main difference between washing your mesh sneakers in the wash and washing them with just the pretreatment. The main benefit of the Signature Kit is the ability to do both a quick clean and a deep clean depending on the state of the sneaker.
We started with the pretreatment on both sneakers. We used 2 squirts of RESHOEVN8R's all natural Cleaning Solution with their 3 different brushes. The Soft Bristle Brush was used on the entire uppers. The Soft Bristle Brush is used to breakdown all of the dirt and grime by creating the most bubbles. After that we moved onto the Medium Bristle Brush on the midsoles and finally the Stiff Bristle Brush on the outsoles. However, here is where the difference comes in. One sneaker went into the washing machine on a normal cycle with cold water while the other went to dry. We typically dry our sneakers in the sun, but it was the end of the day so we used the fan.
After we came back we noticed the difference immediately. I challenge any of you to look at this and say you can't see the difference! The washing machine brought these Mica Green Air Max 1s back to life in the best way possible. You can do it too! I promise if you follow the right steps, the washing machine is a safe and effective method to clean your kicks.

Nobody ever shows where to put the laundry pods in the bag, does it go in with the shoe, or does it go in the small side pocket that looks like it’s supposed to be for the laces?…I just received my kit today when I got home, and I can’t wait to try it, just wish it came with at least 1 laundry pod, came with shoe trees, all 3 brushes, laundry bag, and the washing soap, I want to order the laundry pods, but before I use them I wanted to know if it’s better to put the pod in the pocket with the laces or in the big part with the shoe itself?
We suggest putting the laundry pod in the small pocket with the laces. However you can drop the pod itself in the washer machine outside of the bag. Both work great!

What trainers do you say not to put in the wash?
We typically don't put shoes that are over a certain number of years old in the wash, suede/ nubuck. We normally wash mesh/knit like Air Max or Yeezys, canvas sneakers like Vans/ Converse and leather sneakers like Air Force 1s

You can but you should still secure them in something to avoid damage.

How do i get off yellow stain on my anniversary am1? I hand washed and laundry washed them stains still on there
Is the yellow on the midsole or the material and what caused it?
If its on the toe box I pretty much did the pretreatment and put them infront of a fan overnight, I just made sure to firmly put a damp paper towel over the toe box to get the stains, also do this on my vans cause I never use a washing machine on shoes

hey, i put my nike juniper trails 2 in the washing machine and a part of the midsole just melted or the washing machine "bit" it. Is this because the washing machine or the detergent?
It’s the washing machine, always wash on eco mode to cold wash
You probably washed them using hot water. This will literally take them apart by melting the glue and pop air bubbles like on the vapormaxes

What are some options to do the laundry system cleaning without putting shoes in the laundry machine?
Steamers are a really good tool for deep cleaning too, but if the shoe isn't overly dirty the pretreatment does normally work.
How hot is the machine wash??
We wash the sneakers with cold water on the coldest setting possible
The real question though is “was she in the zone when she seen that foam”? 😂… had to say it, I know that’s from a different product.
