    You gotta understand LJ is The Culture!! UNLV represented hip hop in the NCAA during the Golden Era of the genre. The Fab Five are descendants of them Runnin' Rebel teams and yo... once you chopped that hightop, you asked the barber for that LJ fade with the part in the middle!! LJ is THE CULTURE!!

    LJ was a beast at UNLV and in Charlotte. One of my favorite player growing up in The 90s. I owned his converse sneakers.

    Larry Johnson is my all time favorite college basketball player and I grew up in DC watching Patrick Ewing, Len Bias, Reggie Williams, and Allen Iverson. LJ was my guy. I just loved his game and his on floor demeanor.

    As an NC native this is a dope interview. I can remember growing up seeing nothing but Hornets Starter gear in the streets. I had a Hornets cap and basketball hoop on the back of my bedroom door. They set the standard for what a pro sports franchise in NC should be for the Panthers and Hurricanes once they relocated to Raleigh from Hartford. A beast at UNLV and in the pros.

    Shouts out to LJ and all the 90’s Hornets. My favorite player, got his bball cards, jerseys, shoes. The thing i like mostly about LJ was he made 95-98% of every shot he took, post up or otherwise regardless of who guarded him, he always adapted n got buckets. FUN FACT: If you watch Isaiah Rider college games you will notice he plays exactly like LJ but he’s a guard.

    I'll never forget it living here in Vegas. My whole neighborhood came outside honking horns and cheering when unlv won the finals. Rebels had the whole city behind them.

    When them LJ UNLV teams played I was in high school and those were prolly the best tourneys I ever saw. One of the best ones was with them plus Georgia Tech ,Kenny Anderson. Mutumbo and Alonzo were at Georgetown,..that particular one was crazy. Still the best final 64 Ive ever seen

    I truly commend the hell out of the fact that Larry Johnson addressed the fact that he did not take the three-pointer in the final seconds of the National Semifinals against Duke in the 1991 Final Four. I am so glad that I am not the only one who saw that he passed up a wide open three-pointer.

    Im from Charlotte, LJ is a legend from UNLV to the Hornets. Even when he was traded to the Knicks, he'll always be a Charlotte legend. That UNLV team is the best college team I've ever seen

      ​@T-REX-44 You obviously don't know who Bill Walton was. Dude was a beast and drug the Trailblazers to the champion ship in 1977 on his back and won it. Then after all his injuries he still was able to come in and give valuable minutes to the Celtics in 1986 and won another title. If you don't know basketball history then stay quiet and stop the Cap!

    Got the luxury of seeing him play in high school. Straight Up BEAST!!!!! That UNLV team is still my all time favorite! I remember one year him refereeing our Hoop It Up games in the West End in Dallas. Had all the girls in a frenzy and driving a maroon BMW sports car. Thank you for this interview, because I've been saying for a while now that you all, Gil's Arena and other podcast can't go wrong with gettin Big L on the show. Many of these other guys also.

    1:07:52 - That summer in Toronto...1994...Dream Team 2 was in EVERY SPOT!! The city was a year away from the Raptors coming into the league, so that FIBA Tourney was an intro...Toronto had the best and most diverse DJ's and club scene at the time, and hip hop, R&B and Caribbean culture was peaking!! Anywhere you went you were gonna see Shaq, LJ, DC and Steve Smith!!

    I remember being in grade school in the late 80's in LA and watching the UNLV games on tv since they showed them locally in LA. That team made me fall in love with college basketball.

Such a kool and down to earth dude. How he is in person is exactly how he was in this interview. Chill and funny as fuxk!     Anfang der 90er hatte die NBA einen unglaublichen Hype in Deutschland. Damals ohne Internet haben wir alles aufgesaugt was wir aus USA zu NBA kriegen konnten. Trading Cards, Basketball Trikots, Knopfhosen, Basketball Kappen von Starter. In Deutschland gab es aber nur Merchandise von einigen wenigen Teams. Larry Johnson war in Deutschland auch Anfang der 90er eine Ikone. Schön ihn zu sehen.

    Man i enjoyed This episode! Larry Johnson brought so much hope and swagger to our city back in the 90s… we wanted to be like LJ not MJ… i had A pair of his Tar-Max converse i had The hornet teal pullover starter hat and all… it was a good time to be alive in the Queen City!!! #salute
