I work in a law firm and have been a legal secretary for 30 years. Attorneys always identify themselves by their full name and the Firm they represent. They also contact adverse parties via email (leaving a paper trail) or by phone. The emails have the name of the firm in the email address and also on the signature portion of the message.
If I received this kind of text, I'd immediately DEMAND the full name of the "attorney," and the name of the firm. While I had them texting me, I'd try & find them on a website. No name, vague or combative about giving info? Conversation ends immediately.

    • @patriciaannerivers3193
      @patriciaannerivers3193 Год назад +1

@Dark Wizard In my state, bar numbers on the signature block are not included. If an attorney wants to include it, it's optional but not required. I've seen it on signature blocks from out-of-state attorneys so it could be a requirement of their firm or of their state bar. Don't know for sure, I'm just guessing. Also, our attorneys don't have to provide their bar number when identifying themselves on the phone. But they ALWAYS identify their firm and who they represent.

    1) If a lawyer us going to contact you about legal matters most likely they would send a notarized letter. They would also tell you their first and last name, the law firm they work for, and the client they represent.
    2) If not a notarized letter, it would be email.
The lawyer would only start something that serious in a text in an absolute inability to contact otherwise.

This is really unbelievable. Stephanie should have been:
    1. Reported to the police for harassment, threatening OP and stalking
    2. Reported for tampering with the mail (that *a Federal crime*, stupid, and she would be spending quality time at a Federal prison)
    2. Gotten in major trouble for falsely portraying herself as a lawyer, for said purpose of harassment, stalking and threatening OP
    3. Bullying OP, all this because of sheer spite and jealousy.
That woman got off too easily. OP better hope and pray that Stephanie doesn't go back to her crazy ways, you could never tell, she's going to eventually try out of vengeful resentment to *really* do something truly dangerous one day. Like try to physically hurt and/or kill OP. Remember she *did* accuse OP of flirting with her boyfriend (and jealous, insecure women *will* go psycho just on that alone), and have everything at her feet (happy marriage, successful career. Co workers and superiors who like and respect her, etc).
OP still better watch out. There's a part two to this story just waiting to be told...

If you suggest going to the police and the other party asks why or if you think you're going too far, 99.9% of the time, it means they're guilty of whatever crime has been committed, or they were involved somehow. I've seen that happen so many times in these stories that just once I'd love to see one where when the perpetrator goes "Isn't going to the police a little much?", the protag goes "No, it isn't, and thank you for letting me know it was you." Bingo! Especially, since the office workers claimed she had already harassed numerous other employees. How far did she go with them? If they had complained, it might not have escalated so far with Sam. Sam definitely should have pressed charges, even if she only got fines and probation. Extortion by pretending to be a lawyer is pretty serious, not to mention the federal crimes of stealing her mail.

Seems to me Stephanie has some issues she really needs to address before she leaves her home again. She was clearly projecting her own insecurities onto Sam. She's really lucky Sam didn't insist on pushing forward with legal options.

Harassment, bullying, extortion, defamation of character, bribery, fraud, tampering with the mail/post box, and impersonating a lawyer is the grand slam of criminal and civil offenses. They are definitely punishable by prison sentences and heavy fines for the criminal offenses and eye wateringly high penalties and damages for the civil offenses. First offender or not with several Federal and State felony crimes Stephanie would receive a minimum of 1-5 years in prison.

Ok removing stuff from mailbox that not yours felony, stuffing a mailbox, with thing that didn’t go through the postal system felony, extortion of $1,000 or more using a communication device that is 2 felonies. They would spend some time in jail for that 1 st time offender or not, in most states 3 felonies will get you life.

Is it possible you used the wrong word? Nutritional is normally related to food. It didn't really fit with gender. I think it's possible you meant gender neutral.

So what’s happening here … Okay wow this one is FUN! Your rule for today’s game is “take a shot of your chosen food or drink every time the ‘lawyer’ racks up another charge against her!” (Isn’t pretending to be a lawyer a crime on top of attempted extortion?) Once I’ve seen to my kitties’ breakfast I’ll be making my first cuppa of the day but play it your way! Cheers ☕️
Stay safe, go hug your furbabies and remember: you are all awesome 💙🐱💙

If I'm being honest, I'm sure Stephanie WOULD have paid the price for her crimes, unless if she deleted the history of her crimes behind the scenes when she fled to her family home. I can guarantee that that's how she could've gotten away with just that slap on the wrist by paying Sam the settlement. Not a lawyer or a judgement analyst but I'm pretty sure that it wasn't Sam or even Stephanie who could've gotten her that level of punishment, but rather the company higher-up who just basically gave her a warning and then started further investigation AFTER everyone else spoke up. That By far may have given Stephanie the time and freedom to delete all of her crimes that weren't towards OP and then flee.
She may be DUMMY STUPID, but I think she played a power move in some regard if she is found to have in reality deleted evidence after the story.
Again, not someone who practices law. Just an observation based on how the After That was told.
