That was a pretty awesome video! We need a follow-up about those _constant-width_ shapes!
Congratulations on reaching this milestone :D
Oh yes! A follow up please! :D
yep
Victor Tran oh my god to are everywhere!
Mahmut Arkawi Am I now? :)
1600+ likes within the first day of upload! Life is good... hard, but good :)
Thanks for all the comments. I'll read them all and answer the questions you may have.
Awesome video!
So I guess you don't like playing Minecraft...
+Eduard Ordukhanov
Thank you very much :)
+Omer Magen
Hehe, I think I would like the gameplay more than the graphics ;)
Ever considered doing some crazy experiment that would make you go viral? Right now you have a really loyal fan base because you are consistent with quality in your videos but I think if you made something explode you would attract a much wider audience potentially viral even
0:40 I guess I am lucky, I have seen Cherenkov's radiation at Oak Ridge Tennessee. Once I saw the blue flash at a plutonium facility, but fortunately it was just photography LOL Sure got my adrenaline up you better believe!
As for the sphere, great tribute to the sphere! And even more so, the "solids of constant width" totally amazing and fascinating little things aren't they!
That last shape was pretty cool.
That reactor looks cool as fuck.
"It's likely that all of you will play with balls in some point in your life" lol. Interesting video anyway.
I was thinking that same thing. Lmao
( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
+Huw Pritchard I paused the video and scrolled down to the comments section as soon as I heard that.
XD
Well, I once got lost in a dark alley way...
Your videos have such a calming effect. Really relaxing, thank you for this, I feel somehow at peace...
If I feel sad or worn out and watch your videos ; I feel jolly and smiley ! There is such warmth and humour in your presentations. Great channel : Thank you.
27 people disliked the video because they think the earth is flat...
he should make a video on flat spheres
Javier Duran Jr
circles. Flat spheres are circles.
well a video about the fascinating mathematical properties of circles would be awesome too ;)
I thumbs up. because he has great videos.. i dont care that he has not looked into earth cosmology... its boring to modt people, and most dont care either way if its flat or a ball
WhiteRice True that
The two spheres colliding and charring paper would be an insteresting idea for a Slow Mo Video.

SOMEBODY GET THE SLO MO GUYS
NOOOOOO! NOT THE ROYALTY-FREE UKELELE!!!!!
It's during a few segments, very toned down and used in a very different context. Wouldn't say it's abused in this video. :P
I LOVE Carefree! It's not _that_ overused... :(
+Victor Tran it's cozy indeed! :D
+mrdaxtercrane FEEDING THE HOMELESS PRANK! GONE WRONG! (GONE SEXUAL) 2016 SoFlo IN THE HOOD
+mrdaxtercrane Royalty free is cancer.
:((
Congratulations on 75k! You've earnt them man, loving the videos :)
Congrats! Glad to be on board, I very much enjoy the content.
Brainiac, you deserve alot more subscribers than you have already. You have some pretty funny humor in some of your videos, especially the one with the magnet and the electronics.
I wish you best of luck my friend, and hopefully you stay for the long run, I say that because I've seen some similar channels that stopped producing videos sadly.
cheers mate.
Thanks! Working hard on the 100k subscriber video already :)
As long as people accept that I can't upload a video very often I'm definitely in it for the long run. If I had to upload a well thought out and heavily edited and polished video every day I would go insane and stop immediately ;)
+Brainiac75 I understand, cheers mate.
+Brainiac75 Question to you Brainiac... Would you ever consider doing a video on the "Gombok"??? Surely, you've heard of it, right???
+Brainiac75 Question to you Brainiac... Would you ever consider doing a video on the "Gombok"??? Surely, you've heard of it, right???
+Brainiac75 *Gomboc, sorry...
I thoroughly enjoy your work. Thank you for uploading such interesting videos.
Thank you for the time and commitment you put into your videos. They are always a pleasure to watch and help inspire new ideas. Cheers to spheres :)
+Kirk Blakley
Thanks! This one was honestly challenging to me. A sphere is not the easiest subject to make a whole video about - but making it entertaining and interesting to most viewers is just demanding. So I'm very glad for all the positive feedback I have received already. Cheers to spheres indeed :)
Creepy first minute!!! :D
+BaliAgha
Thanks. Glad I didn't scare you from watching the rest of the video ;)
"It is likely that you will all play with balls at some point in your life."

Oh man, I love your videos! They witty and a delight to watch x
This is still one of my most overall favorite videos to rewatch.
Un magnífico trabajo, mi mas sincera enhorabuena.
+Delcopond
Muchas gracias! Hope I said it right :)
don't worry, people on internet love weird things. love your videos
so glad i found this channel i could watch these all day
Laser green is one of my favorite colors too! I also really enjoy laser blue, laser red, and laser purple/violet. I really like the energy feeling of the colors that lasers produce.
I lost it when he said "its likely that you will all play with your balls in some point of your life".
LOL... I heard International Avocado Project. Wasn't looking at the screen when it was said. Now I'm sadly disappointed in there not being some kind of global effort to improve the Avocado.
fartzinwind you can’t improve the avocado. You should have known that
fartzinwind your username! I'm rolling in laughter!...
The perfect tree scrotum fruit, honed over thousands of years by natives in south america. It cannot be improved.
FYI, avocado actually SHOULD be extinct. The avocado evolved to be eaten by large animals that no longer exist. They now exist solely because humans like the taste. Without us, they would go extinct.

I wanted to thank you for this video. I learned a lot of new things that I definitely didn't expect to learn. Congratulations on 75,000 subscribers!
+jprav65
Thanks for watching and commenting. Glad that I can open other minds to the beauty of spheres :)
I came across your videos yesterday, watched until I fell asleep, woke up, and kept watching. Why are these so entertaining? I dunno xD But I like it! You got yourself another subscriber!
"all of you will play with balls at some point in your life"
I'm sure he knew he would russle some jimmies by saying that. xD
i knew this comment would be made 😂
i was looking for this comment
That was pretty interesting. Who ever knew a sphere could be so interesting? :D
Victor Tran victor tran?.
HA, your dry silliness is wonderful! keep it up! :)
I always look forward to seeing your videos! Thanks
that fucking royalty-free music
+1337soup i almost disliked the video for the shit royalty free
Nice. What an interesting and different subject.
Thanks! I do try to make videos that aren't too mainstream.
The sphhhhhere, subscribed. Your modesty is inspiring. Great videos sir.
Been a fan for a long time mate! Keep up the good work!
The inside of a sphere is parabolic geometry...ahhhhhh!!! everybody run!!

True m8 ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
Love this kind of video! You should definitely do more like it.
Wow Brainiac... I sure do wish I had found your channel a long time ago. I absolutely love your videos. There so creative and different, you seem to find interest in the same weird/unique things as I do. I look forward to your upcoming videos. Of corse, after I spend the next three days watching every video you've ever made...
+Michael Cotrone
Thanks for the support and welcome aboard! Luckily I don't have that many videos uploaded yet, so you can catch up :)
I cant belive you dont have 1000000 subs
Thanks! My channel is growing at a steady pace so I've got nothing to complain about :)
I got a million subs
I'm not surprised, nowadays more people are into american football, & basketball, & prank videos which could reach several million sub...not so many people like science
carolyn mmitchell nope
RUclips... why are you showing me this channel UNTILL NOW.
This is amazing man, keep up the awesome work. You earned a sub and a fan :D
Thank you very much - and welcome aboard :)
You are amazing ! I love your geeky intelligence! Great content and videography and creativity!
I love this channel. It is truly superb!
about that surface being the double of the surface when you cut it in half, i think is like looking at a square, it looks like all lines are the same but if you draw a diagonal its larger tha the other lines. (sorry I dont talk a good english)
+Mikelod12 but why is the proportion for a sphere exactly the surface area being 1/4 of the area of a circle with the same radius
i visualize a flat circle and for it to turn into a half sphere it must stretch out by the radius. I can visualize the area stretching and increasing but why does it increase by exactly 2 fold?
I wish I had subscribed to this channel much sooner.
Welcome aboard! You're not that late. You've only got under 50 videos to catch up on ;)
Thank you for all the awesome videos :)
I also think the sphere is my favorite shape. It's just awesome. I'm glad to see you also agree. I liked this "one of a kind" video. Keep up the good work!
+Brad Rugg
Thank you very much fellow mind :)
♥
Where can I buy those giant glass spheres?
I also like spheres :D
+The exe Virus
I bought my crystal ball directly from China on eBay. Search for '100mm crystal ball'.
The one with bubble inclusions is actually for a garden water feature (Kugel Ball) - meant to be rolling on a film of water in a hole carved in a stone. You may find a spare sphere in a local garden center like I did.
it's not normal glass it's fused quartz..
I loved the water in the cup test just brilliant. My favorite shape is the skeleton cube, in which the shape is made out of bars or such. I just love how perfect 90• looks at all vertices.
FABULOUS! Thanks for being such an enthusiast!
No problem! New video uploaded.
I like the truncated icosahedron and my favorite color is exactly 445nm.
+Justin Dixon 465nm
Nerd hahaha
Eyyy, it's you again!
I like the normal icosahedron and my favorite color is exactly 450nm.
I like tetragonal pentagonal dodecahedrons and my favourite color is 1 pm because if you detect it you're probably f**ked. I know it isn't a color but neither is 450 or 445nm. It is a wavelength of electromagnetic field that we percieve as colors.
where are you from?
+Jonas MG
I'm from Denmark.
+Brainiac75 i knew it :) im also from denmark... cool video btw
Jonas MG Tak ;)
Selvtak :)
+Brainiac75 Haha, det hørtes ut som at du var fra Tyskland ;)
Dude, that was amazing, more of such videos!
soon 100,000 subs! you deserve it man your videos are very fun to watch and educational. I hope your 100k video is something epic with giant magnets, like allowing 2 6 inch neo magnets to collide. I understand that this would be EXTREMELY dangerous and expensive, but you would also be left with fragments to do more experiments.
Thanks! 100k is just about to become reality. I am working on a 100k video (and a short video before that). Time will tell what I come up with ;)
I liked it and love your videos! Keep them up!!
100k later and you still rock. Great work man!
You put so much effort and detail on your videos. Congratulations! Keep spreading science, sir.
Thank you very much, Yuri. Much more to come!
gosh. you really do do one of a kind videos. this is awesome.
+manowar821
Thanks! I guess it is safe to say my channel is not mainstream :)
I love these videos. can't wait for 100,000
Congratulations on the 75,000 subscribers; that's quite a milestone. Love your videos dude, they always brighten my day and teach me new knowledge. Keep up the excellent content, and it may be a bit late, but have a Happy New Year!!!!
+Zachary Dibbern
Hehe, Happy 2016 to you too :)
9960 like here.
Thanks for the great and awesome work!
You are making science great again :P
I've never reall gave any tought on whats my favourite geometric shape.
But watching this it does really make sense to choose the sphere.
i love this video! i too share your enthusiasm for spheres and circles so much so in fact that i considered writing a book on it but i don't have good enough writing skills to make that sound interesting! Why is it that a lot of the things we do and in nature are circles? raindrops, stars, planets. Even the way we think and learn, the way we form circles to learn and stuff its fascinating!
+Toamastar15
I would love to read that book! It was scary for me to make a video just about spheres interesting. But it worked out well once I started - and spent a sh!tload of hours on making it entertaining and beautiful to watch ;)
it is great work! :) nice job :)
Awesome video on spheres! Definitely one of my favorite shapes too!
You just gained a subscriber! :)
Awesome! Welcome aboard :)
I watched a few of your videos and I really like the things you are doing. I just subscribed. Keep it up.. : )
+55Ramius
Awesome! Welcome aboard - more videos to come.
congrats on the upcoming 125 thousand subs! you make wonderful videos and I like them a lot
Thank you very much! Much more to come.
that was such a beautiful video keep up the amazing work
Very interesting video and congrats on 75k subs :D
Amazing video. I was stunned when you hit the 2 spheres with the paper.
One of your best videos sir. Thanks for the interesting content.
+TheWraithkrown
With the number of likes already this may end up being my most liked video in relation to views. I'm really happy about that - this video was not an easy one to pull of... Thanks for your support :)
Great video! So informative and charming as well! You sound like a great drinking buddy too! And yes, I'd climb that mountain holding a beer with you! LOL! Excellent stuff! Subscribed for life! ; )
just found your channel. july 2016 and i love your stuff thanks super neat!
Awesome! Welcome aboard. I'm so close to releasing the next celebration video :)
wow this video was awesome, you've definitely made me like spheres alot more than i ever would of thought.. not that it ever did came to mind.
I'm also kind of upset at myself for not expecting you to be this entertaining!!, as such 100+ thumbs up to you!
I very rarely like a video which isn't a song or something i'd like to have quick access to.
+InDmand
Thanks for hitting that like-button! It actually means a lot to me and my channel. But as long as you watch my videos I'm not gonna ask for more :)
wow i got a reply :D
No worries, in the end i liked it for me and not for any other reason. Looking forward to seeing what else you'll be putting out this year.
you desurve 750000 subscribers man, your vids are awesome
Great video! :)
Congrats on the 75K subs...
Not sure when I joined, sometime 2-3 years ago (I'm guessing)...
+Anamnesia
Thanks for sticking around for that long. Not all subscribers are patient enough for my upload schedule - or lack of it ;)
I was going to comment on this video and realized I already did! Anyhow, when I left my old job last year I took a "crystal ball" with me. It's just glass but it's spherical and mesmerizing. On the way home the sun actually hit the sphere and melted part of my seat. I only noticed it when sitting at a light and saw smoke. Oops! Also, it's dangerous to hold one outside in the sunlight because it will also burn skin. :-o I actually dropped it because of that but it is still intact. I've learned my lesson. ;) Grats on getting many more subs since this video was made.
I actually have those solids of constant width from maths gear (meissner bodies), kinda disappointed that they aren't solid plastic but actually just a thin and light shell, still loving the fact they can't be turned on a lathe. Thanks for the video, always getting excited when I see a new one is up!
I also am interested in almost all the other stuff you like, I do have magnets and lasers and some other "applied physics gadgets". You should make a video just randomly showing some stuff that would otherwise not be worth making a whole video about! Maybe you have something that I'd actually love to have as well, would be awesome to see some new exciting stuff. Keep up the great work!
+Streamtronics
Thanks! The meissner bodies are definitely more complicated than the shown solids of constant width. I may have to order three at some point even though they're not solid aluminium like the ones shown in this video.
I do have more things to show. Stay tuned for stuff to come in the future :)
I remember watching you back around 20k subs, great job dude keep it up
+TheCraftable101
Thanks for your continued support :)
Loved it, thanks! Had no idea about how the impacting of semi-perfect spheres could actually char paper and such. Interesting!
I just found you. So glad I have! Your channel is awesome. New sub 😊
Hi! I discovered your channel by chance today and i loved it!
+Jorge Willians
Great! Welcome aboard :)
Your videos are awesome. When my kid gets older we're doing all this stuff for fun.
great vid! your really deserve your subs keep up the great work!
i just found your channel...and this "one of a kind" video made me suscribe!

Brainiac75 thanks!
Great video
Congratulations on 75k
Hope you get much more
+tktur2
Thank you for helping! Keep watching the videos I upload and my channel should keep growing :)
Great video, a new found respect for spheres has formed with me. The sphere is now officially my favourite 3 dimensional shape, thank you! :)
+BoardOfCircuit
Nice, glad that I can make others see the outer and inner beauty of the sphere :o)
75 k subscribers in 2016
518 k subscribers almost 2 years later, Dec. 2018
thats a very steep increase, thanks to your brilliant fun and educational videos. Big congrats to you!
She your voice is so calming
just in less than 5 months and you are almost at 100,000 sub. keep on doing what you do best, educate people it fun ways
Thanks for the support. I really like making these videos - more to come.
For the hemisphere golden ratio thing at 3:50, I’d imagine you’re looking for a practical method that would relate the inner area to the outer. Basically, to visualize, all you need to do is imagine that the shape is hollow and made out of paper. When you bend the inner circle (or “plate”) inward so that it matches the outer layer’s curve, you’ll see that it’s smaller by a noticeable 2x amount. That means there’s a strong relationship between the curve length and the actual length.
i love spheres because of this video. and black holes the way they manipulate light is cool.
Such fun! Thank you for it. (subscribed)
wow such an awesome video! i think you made me have a favorite shape ;p. congratulations on 75k!!
also where did you get those steel balls? i want one of those!! or the crystal ball
+viila5
Thanks! eBay is probably the easiest way to find them. For example search eBay for 2" steel ball and you should find a selection. Larger ones are available but they quickly get expensive if you want two. A 100mm (4") is £120 :/ (www.ebay.com/itm/100mm-AISI-420C-Stainless-Steel-Balls-Grade-100-AISI420C-/221996579095?var=&hash=item33b006f917:m:mT3C8yuPAJwXQhcLU3HVyLQ)
wow thats expensive! thanks for the reply :D
Congratulations, I very much liked this video!
That foil part looks addictive.
These videos are amazing!
that outro is nice
those lasers have their light spread trough insides of the spheres
and thats very beautiful
I knew the think that would make the cutting board roll fine, i was like rounded pyramids! Grand illusions... that will be all. thanks tim.
