I left Manila 20 years ago, and it looks practically the same. I used to walk around the city streets of Manila when I was young. And I already had the intense feeling to leave Manila by hook or by crook. The experience of growing in that place really gave me aspiration and to planned how to change my life for the better. Because since I was young I saw how Filipino attitudes affect the living conditions in our country. And I can't really do anything about it. I can only control my fate. So much has changed in my life since I left. I have a better life, a better living environment, and most of all I have respect for myself and others. Filipinos, in general, don't know how to respect other people. Perhaps maybe because they don't know how to respect their selves. Hope is the favorite word of Filipinos, " I'll change " should be the better word.
The area around FEU means a lot to me, I hated Manila when I first came since I found it chaotic and dirty compared to my sleepy hometown. But I grew fond of it and I had great memories there during my college years, I also met my favorite circle of friends. This video brings back memories to me, thanks.
I've been there during my college year 40 yrs ago. With that very long time nothing has change in that area. Those buildings were very old at that time and still same old building nothing has been change. Kahit konti walang pag-unlad na nangyari sa haba ng panahon.
Many thanks for posting this. I used to shop in Cartimar back when I was a teenager. I come here also to pick up used textbooks, I did not see them in this video. Isetann ,Plaza Fair and Good Earth in Avenida was the place to shop when I was kid. I left in 1990, did not return 'til 2017 but I did not have time to take my family in this part of Manila. Anyway thanks again for posting this, brings back lots of memories. Hope to visit again after the pandemic.
This brings back so many memories as I used to study at the university nearby. We even used to buy second hand books there because they were cheaper. Not sure if they still exist though. Thanks a lot!
Wow, Nice walking video, I hope the Philippine government will based on your video for the clearing operation, because there's still a sidewalk vendor that's illegal, because there's such place given for them and not on the sidewalk, But I see the Discipline now from our country fellowmen compare before and the sidewalks is made of tiles now and clean^^
Very good quality! Maybe you should put a caption of the time you walk like what time of the day it is and what temperature it is so we can also have a feel of that moment.
Another excellent video, thank you very much. After watching several videos of you, I have found many similarities between the Philippines and the tropical countries in Latin America, such as ethnic, cultural and religious diversity, as well as the uncontrollable informal economy and of course - beautiful women everywhere.
@@chauxlemount9538 You definitely have to improve your reading habits because you've obviously never read about Thor Heyerdahl and Kon Tiki. It is not a theory.
Nice walk! What day and time of the day was this shot? Also, I noticed quite a few people with mountain bikes. Is it a hot trend to ride "mountain" bikes in the "city?"
Thanks Joel, this was around 2pm during the week. A lot of people ride mountain bikes when they commute or on long ride trips outside of Manila. Although there are not any mountains in Manila, when the riders go outside of Manila, there are good off road riding =) Thanks for watching!
Thank you for this tour.It brings back a ton of memories. My Mom and two of my brothers used to buy our school supplies and used books there. We went to school at FEU from 1st grade up to 1st year HS and I remember those tiles...:)
I guess RUclips videos of Philippines is the only way foreigners will get to experience what goes on there for quite sometime now with the on going pandemic. Now with the recent big lockdown again it's very doubtful the Philippines will open up for 2 or 3 years

I still believe your experience is subjective and this is not applicable to all Filipinos. Remember, Manila is just a tiny dot in the Philippines.
