Getting to the bottom of a colonial site deserted for hundreds of years

- It was rough getting out there in the hills of NH where these old colonial farms have been deserted for hundreds of years. People settled these lands roughly in the mid 1700s and forged their home sites out of the unforgiven land. What is left are the miles of rock walls, piles of field stones, cellar holes and the somewhat improved land. We spent a couple hours exploring this one area that with its history is know to have been abandoned sometime in the 1840's and nature is taking the land back. Reading the land we hiked and found some interesting water pass thru's in the stone walls for the mountain brooks. We went looking to see if we could find any lost sites but ended up at a proper cellar hole and did some metal detecting. We dug up a few old relics and it made for a great day.

Can’t tell you enough how I like your videos Charlie, you make me want to watch cause I know you don’t overhype them in thumbnails to sucker us in. Keep up the great work and thank you
Yes so true
Really enjoy your channel. Have to say it's one of my favorites. Love those old colonial sites.
Thank you Charlie and Dame for the adventure , seeing some beautiful scenery and few nice finds !
Going to the woods is like going home. Beautiful day.
The lantern part you found is a whale oil two wick burner. They were popular early 1800 through late 1800's.. when use of whale oil as fuel was popular. They sell on eBay 40 to 60 dollars just for that burner. Not trash!!
I can't get on the woods like I used to, so I love the sounds and exploration in your videos.
Hello Charlie and Dame, I’m always enjoying your Not Thursday videos. Joyce ❤️🙏🇺🇸
Looks like it was a cold hike! Finding traces of the past just brings more questions sometimes. So much hard work done years ago. Thanks for taking us along!
What a neat thing to find a cut through for water off the mountain. There's lots to see 👀 in the vid today. Take care out there.

A wonderful video guys. I so love them. Thanks 😊
I say that was a good hunt!!
I had fun 😁
Lantern part looks like a whale oil burner. Pre civil war. Nice find!
For sure! Wicked nice find, Dame - and also nice to see you after the long winter months.
Take care...
Dame I think that is a whale oil lamp part.
Did you notice the snapped over conifer trees from the 4:05 to 4:12 segment? About the correct height and diameter for some big guy to mark his turf. Are you folks careful out there in those hot spots? The other day, when you were on the top of a mountain, it sounded as if someone was knocking on a wooden door. I kinda got the feeling there was some uneasiness in your voice.
BF is a myth.
Confirmation bias is not a myth.
on oak island an Archaeologist found a bone handle knife from a cellar hole belonged to a settler named Daniel McGinnis.
Loggers buried the barbed wire . Hmm
Curious. Is that a no-no?
