Norm McDonalds who happens to be no only one of the best comedians ever but also a real funny guy had a podcast Seinfeld went there no big fuzz no egos just two amazing comedians, pure gold. oh God how I miss Norm!!!
Right on. I prefer that setting for Jerry these days. It's far better for witty quips with someone like Norm to bounce off. His other stuff is a bit too generic these days.
I don’t understand how you can love comedy and hate comedians in cars getting coffee. Listening to comedians just shoot the shit and getting a glimpse into how their brains work is fascinating to me. Way better than some scripted interview on a talk show.
totally agree! Jerry Seinfeld created Comedians in Cars so that he could hang out with comedians and get the feel for how they get their ideas, and it usually ends up being funny. Also, how could you not see Alec Baldwin as a funny person (also a great dramatic actor). This guy should actually watch the show before he comments...and if he did watch the show(s), he just doesn't get it!
So if Amy Schumer has a show then you must automatically like it because you like comedy since she's a comedian. What a dumb comment. It's pretty simple: You don't like it if you don't like Jerry Seinfeld.
Rogan on his JRE podcast has proven on multiple occasions he has no radar at all for when a guest is being sardonically ironic with an off the cuff joke. It flies over Joe's head like a fuckin' UFO. And observational sardonic irony is Seinfeld's entire persona.
I've never been a fan of Jerry's stand-up, but I absolutely love Seinfeld. I've never been a huge fan of Rogan's stand-up, but I love his podcast. You don't have to love everything they do. They both are super talented, and some of their stand-up is good, just not my favorite.
So I will make it even more complicated: don't like the Seinfeld TV show (= Larry David writing), don't like Seinfeld standups, but love him just talking as himself in interviews or Comedians in Cars. Also, love Curb Your Enthusiasm (= Larry David's writing) and Seinfeld's part in it is my favorite. At the same time, I actively avoid Rogan's standup while listening to basically all JRE and finding him really funny there. Seems that in some comedians I like their real personas more than their standups, while in others I like their shows more. Except for Larry David, who is basically always Larry David.
he's not funny at all. He's annoying. His podcasts used to be good. Now he sounds like a trumpie that makes stuff up, and that has people on that can't challenge him, and if they do, they don't come back and he cuts them.
He's bad at comedy. It's like that one will smith episode where he was friends with DL Hughley and thought because he was funny here and there that he could translate that automatically into stand up. And he had to learn the hard way it's not that simple. You can be a funny person and not know how to setup even a five minute bit to keep the audience laughing. Rogan's stuff is just cringe worthy.
Neither one are Funny. JRE Podcast is great. Seinfeld should wake every morning and give Larry David a Kiss. That show is all Larry David. Even when he left for a bit you can notice.
neither is jerry seinfeld. he was liked by johnny carson and blew up with the tv show. but despite his net worth and his hit show, seinfeld is not even close to being one of the greats. watch the video with louie, chris, ricky, and seinfeld. he literally criticizes them for having new special after new special saying a real comedian has 'the act' honed over years but essentially sticking to the same material, hence his special 'im telling you for the last time.' where he finally retired those bits. think if his show never happened, do you really think seinfeld would have reigned in standup? especially relying on the act cause supposedly this is something that real comedians do. im not saying rogan is great at standup, they are both average, but jerry most certainly isnt one of the greats.
@@Tomjones12345 You sir are an idiot ... you have to understand the era to fully appreciate the show and you are probably 12 living in your moms basement but you don't need to have lived in the 90s to know that Seinfeld was, still is and always will be the greatest show on TV.
Jerry might not be on the Mt. Rushmore of Comedy but he is far, far above average. He is also a Joe Rogan is not even decent let alone average. @@Tomjones12345
100% agree. i love rogans podcast and natural humor. But never cared for his stand up. I think most should be ok with accepting and nothing wrong with that. I love seinfeld, but can also recognize his style comedy is whitty and creative from a writing point of veiw. But you wont find the crying laughing etc.
He’s not a comedian tho. He’s never been funny in anything else before or after Seinfeld. He’s classless in interviews because he always steers the convo to how much money he made on Seinfeld.
Jerry as a stand up is below average. He just happened to be the main character in the Larry David show, where all the other characters were actually funnier.
Same. Larry was the show. Jerry was a meh comedic actor and not my brand of stand up comedy Larry is a comedic genius. He proved it by writing everything for Seinfeld and then creating curb.
On comedians in cars getting coffee, Zach G ask Jerry Seinfeld, "Given your contribution to the show Seinfeld, shouldn't it be called Larry David?" There is no more an articulate, accurate summation of Seinfeld's comedic talents. Seinfeld is funny BY ASSOCIATION.
@@johnferguson4985 I remember watching Joe's first special on tv when I was in my teens and thought it was cerebral or whatever, but I don't remember laughing. If I watched it again now it'd probably just sound like existentialism 101 and be eye-rolling, but a lot is a sign of the times. Especially when it comes to comedy.
I think people don't really appreciate how funny Seinfeld was at his peak on stage. Comedy changes with time. Now his stuff doesn't seem as bright to some people maybe after years of imitation. But I remember how burst out loud funny his stuff was when it was first airing. Same with the show. People now trying to call it overrated, are doing so from the vantage point of youtube commentary. The show radically changed the TV landscape and, at least in my opinion, was one of the best written and performed television series of all time (it certainly punched through the pablum we had been getting in the years leading up to it)
And you have Larry David to thank for that. All the funny parts of the show are either the wacky side characters or Larry David's writing. Jerry is an unfunny person who knew the right people and took advantage of great opportunities.
@@ShowerOnceYearly Larry David is a genius, and don't take that away from him at all. But I think them working together, even though Larry was doing the writing, was still crucial for that show being what it was. Jerry wasn't a great performer. That much is true. They tailored the writing to his lack of comedic acting ability. And there is no question they surrounded him with talented performers and that the show benefited from tons of talented writers as well. But his standup was very funny. I was a fan of his before the show and remember how impactful those routines were when they aired. That said, Larry Davis is a comedic master, but that doesn't diminish Jerry Seinfeld's comedy. This whole thing where people are suddenly recasting Jerry as an unfunny comedian, frankly sounds like when people call the Beatles over-rated. It ignores context, the contribution they made to the evolution of music, the impact, and it is just something people say that doesn't really have any weight beyond it being their own personal opinion. I get that some people don't find it funny. That is fair. I think it is a pretty weak argument though to dismiss him the way people are doing (which I think has more to do with them either just being contrarian or, more likely, just not liking him personally)
@@Bedrockbrendan that's fair. I think it's partly because he's so arrogant and shitty about his success as if a large part of it wasn't luck and working with extremely talented and funny people to build up his career. But mainly I've never heard him say something I remembered and thought was funny.
I loved the Seinfeld tv show. I thought his stand up on the show was the least funniest part. I think he's funny, but not hilarious. I love Joe Rogan as a commentator and a podcaster, but not as a stand up comedian.
I’m not even sure you can say he’s a great interviewer. He conducts great interviews because of the level of guest he gets and because he lets them talk and it’s long form. Does he ask really poignant questions? I don’t know. I think the guy from Hot Ones would be a better example of a great interviewer. Joe deserves credit for creating a platform that makes sense and is attractive to a juggernaut viewership.
@@TheRealDebussyFarts I think there's an element of cause and effect in your comment. Joe does ask good questions, he then allows his guest to answer at length, usually without butting in. He's not looking for TV 'gotcha' moments. He conducts a long form conversation exploring highways and byeways and before you know it 2.5 hours have gone by. So, I think his approach is low key brilliant because his MO, doesn't draw attention to itself. Some people think he's a musclehead, but he does his research and he's smart. I think in the case of Adam Ruins Everything he had prepared a few mantraps because the guy was/is a serious junkwaffle, saying most sport was designed for men's bodies and speculating that sport would be better if all the rules were adjusted somehow to make them mixed sex games. Clearly a foolish person and Joe was way too smart for this guy.
Fascinating. The thought that kept running through my mind, ‘there wouldn’t be any chemistry between Seinfeld and Rogan. They have 2 completely different styles. I can’t see them in the same room.’ Which really goes along with your theory of 2 different worlds. I agree.
If you like ignorant dilettantic bullshit misinfo/lies/junk science repeated incessantly through a phlegm hacking, smacking, gulping delivery then you’re right, Joe Rogan is a “great interviewer and host”.
@@NetoLewisJerry’s style is more old school. I compare him to George Carlin from the 70’s and 80’s, before George started “telling it like it is.” Minus out George’s use of profanity from that time period and that’s Jerry. Lots of different style of comedy but that style is still good. Timing and using an entire expanse of the English language for describing funny situations is still entertaining
Seinfeld is great because he's himself. He doesn't try and be anybody else. Joe's tribe are all trying to be Hicks or Carlin, and they all fall far short (except Bill Burr and Doug Stanhope). Jerry is an all-time great.
Jerry isn't anywhere close to an all-time great. He had one succesful show. His standup is boring. He isn't really funny to most people outside America, who find it all childish and just generally too on-the-nose. What he is, is a locally successful comedian who thinks he's king of the universe. This, of course, is not about Joe Rogan, any old shit would be funnier than Rogan.
More famous for the show. I find his stand up funny but I piss myself at the show. Don't think george Carlin would go on rogan probably the same reason sienfield hasn't.
He also has the money to do what he loves. And help others do the same. He knows he's not the best comedian. That's why he gives so much back to the community of comedy.
You have to remember that Seinfeld stayed away from swear words, relationship jokes, racial jokes...he avoided what 99% of comics covered. Also Seinfeld is NOT overrated, some of it is still tight to this day. Some espisodes/moments are incredible...Kramer doing his talk show. George talking about the whale/golf ball. The librarian talking down to Seinfeld. The chinese restaurant. There are so many...and yes theres always these people who will say "Thats all Larry David" but in reality its a (a) a staff of writers, and (b) Seinfeld and David started it all.
As a kid Joe Rogan was that a friend's house and couldn't believe the parents were so upset at him swearing. It seemed preposterous to him to make A few words so taboo," Like how are we supposed to get anything done here, You really want me curating the Wording of every Thought before it leaves my Mouth so your Adult ears and sensibilities arent offended by Words that YOU can say, other ADULTS can say, but if I say them , its a PROBLEM? Fck THAT. That's ridiculous. Seinfeld, conversely has a deep understanding of how swearing can affect things. He'd agree that "Profanity is the linguistic crutch of the vulgar and inarticulate". Clearly, this is just one example of MANY ways they have profoundly different ways of seeing the world - and may as well be from different planets.
That’s Seinfeld/David combo was the peak of comedy for me. Sure there’s funnier jokes and material since, but nothing has been as consistently funny over 9 seasons as Seinfeld was. Must be on my 20th rewatch and I still laugh.
@@TM-np5lqand that episode with the fat free yoghurt when he did swear was all the more funnier as it was so out of character, and instantly he influenced that kid to start swearing all the time. So good
Atp I don’t think they need each other. Rogan is set after that Spotify deal. But in the learning comedy arena, he’s at an extreme deficit compared to Seinfeld. If Rogan was up and coming, he def could use some shine from someone of Seinfeld’s caliber.
you dont have to manufacture an invisible beef that doesnt exist if you wanna know why they never met or never been on each others shows. its because they simply dont need each other

I've watched a million comedians and there are many mature career guys and gals who are truly funny. Knowing Rogan was so famous I actually *tried* hard to laugh at his bits-any single one of them - for a long time. It felt like I had funny-bone ED
Let's be honest, Rogan got big not because of comedy, but because he was a UFC commentator, the UFC got big, and Rogan was pushing JRE. Notice Rogan's rise coincides 100% with the UFC getting more and more popular.
There's a 3rd important figure this video forgets in this story, which is Norm MacDonald. Before Norm died, Joe had tried to get Norm on his podcast OVER and OVER again. Keep in mind, Norm and Jerry loved each other. Jerry had Norm on his coffee show, and Norm had Jerry on his show as well. Norm knew Joe had become the biggest media outlet on earth for comics. But he always thought Joe's rat-pack of "Death Squad" comedians was total cringe, and it didn't help matters when Joe's close friend Tony Hinchcliffe was caught ripping off a Norm joke. So in reality, there's two comedy legends- Jerry and Norm - that always treated Joe for what he is; a mediocre comedian that happened to become a big podcast host, but then made the mistake of thinking that meant he was an expert in comedy, when he's really just an expert in podcasting. And unlike Jerry who is still alive, Norm is gone. So Joe will never be able to make Norm kiss his ring. And of course, Norm didn't need to, because anyone with an ounce of taste knows that Norm ran mental circles around Joe's comedy, and certainly didn't need Joe's publicity to be well regarded.
You’re spot on. That pack is still kinda cringe, if not more, to this day. Joe added guys like Eddie Bravo and Brendan lmaooo I just know Norm would cook those guys alive if he came in contact with them 😂
Your comment is so true. It is music to my ears. Norm was a genius and a comic’s comic, recognized, respected and beloved by the greatests (Seinfeld, Chapelle, Conan, Letterman, etc.) it was classy of him to avoid Rogan in order not to have to lower his standards with a lesser comedian.
@@viperrecords3288Good comment. I have never detected that Joe wants others to "kiss his ring." Maybe I'm dense, but in all the hours I've listened to his cast, he's just always felt like an honest to goodness good dude to me and not about anything like this whatsoever.
Nate Bargazzi is one of the few 'new' comedians who is genuinely hilarious and clever IMO (I know it's subjective). Kudos for pushing back and defending Seinfeld (unarguably one of the GOATs)
@@xVILLZ559xMark Normand is fine. He gets a lot more praise than his act warrants because he has a very cool and memorable voice. Nate is funnier than Normand, so are Nick Mullen, and Shane Gillis. I’m not saying he sucks, just that he isn’t a top tier comic based on his act
I've also never thought Rogan was funny, but he's a hard worker and a determined guy. No doubt he learned that in MMA. I think he just kept working on his act until he had something that got him in the door, and that's where he started meeting people and getting TV gigs like News Radio. Then he used his background in MMA to land announcer gigs. Then he used his background in TV, comedy, and MMA to land great interviews as a podcaster. Rogan's success is due to knowing how to set goals and work hard to accomplish them rather than any particular talent. Forget about Tony Robbins. If you want to learn about success, listen to Joe Rogan.
The main flaw with this whole channel is that it presumes the core value of JRE is as a comedy vehicle, but in all reality, that's only a small subsection of Rogan's audience.
I like this guys channel but him doubling and tripling down on the Comedians in Cars getting Coffee being cringe take has me hella confused. I would watch a video on him defending that take because its wild. All my comedy viewing friends love the show. its amazing.
Like him or not, Joe truly seems to love comedy as a medium. I know he prattles on about it a bit much, but at least to me, its just because it means so much to him. He doesnt come off as arrogant, like no one can understand comedy like shultz does. And I dont know what happens behind closed doors, but I dont think he's trying to be a comedy gatekeeper. I think he's achieved his dream of making a comedy club and wants it to be the best it can, and will have anyone on as long as theyre funny. His close friend brendan hasnt even been on and its not like hes doing it to hurt him. I think he wants a standard. As far as i know hes not keeping great comedians out for personal reasons like midsy did.
He definitely isn’t trying to be a gatekeeper…except to the Comedy Mothership when Brendan wants to host 😂 but nah I don’t think that’s what he’s trying to do at all.
Comedians in Cars is one of the great podcasts (it's basically one) of the past decade. Who else could get that array of stars and get honest and raw stories and opinions out of them. Yes, Jerry laughed a lot in a kinda fake way, but lots of great moments.
It's not a podcast when you have camera crew following you around. Secondly he doesn't always have comedians on the show so it defeat the title of the show.
I think you've done a really good job creating a story where there isn't one. Mmm, rephrase: you've done a good job of injecting conflict where there isn't any - and that creates story. You saw possibility and crafted a story around that possibility. You brought a lot of good skills to this production - wish I had some of them. In the end I felt the story was more fabrication than reality.
True, but Rogan has been particularly silence about Seinfeld. When Pauly Shore was in the podcast and mentioned that Mitzi Shore did not like Seinfeld, there was no follow up commentary on it.
Majority of his videos are just hating for the sake of hating and exaggerating tf out of interactions. I'm starting to feel like one of these comedians stole his girl or something
Why can’t I like both for different reasons? Two different types of humor. One is for water cooler talk and the other is for the boys on Friday or Saturday morning at 05:00 in a duck blind.
This! And that’s strange isn’t it? Like they are considered stand up comics but their most notable work is from tv shows lol…I think that says a lot about just how funny (or not) they may be.
@@EverydayWithBobby No, it says alot about how little you know about the history of comedy. Seinfeld was becoming one of the greatest standups ever before he got his show. He was on Carson like a dozen times, did countless main stages at the major festivals, tv specials, etc.
I think you did a great job of covering this and agree with everything you said. I think one more explanation for why Seinfeld possibly hasn’t been on JRE is that Jerry simply isn’t interested. He has done some interviews and collaborations such as Stern and the special with Ricky, Louis and Chris Rock, but I can just imagine him being like, “no I don’t want to do that,” even without there being a beef. I do agree with you that he probably doesn’t think Joe is funny. But it may be as simple and anti-emotional as that.
I agree. Don’t think Seinfeld really cares to do anything he doesn’t want to do. He’s just like Larry David in the sense of the “no, I’m good” mentality
Rogan is the worst standup comedian alive today. Seriously open mic comics doing their first set are often way way better than he is. Jerry doesn’t want to have to sit there and listen to his stupid garbage
"Hey person I don't know, you also not liking the thing that I don't like that serves no other purpose than to make people laugh evokes feelings of pleasure for me." Shared disapproval of something harmless making you "so glad" leads me to believe you're no older than 25.
Joe doesn’t and hasn’t done tv talk shows in 20 years. He only does podcasts. Look back at his history . He stopped doing movies too. He stated ages ago he was done with all of them and has kept his word. Do a little research. No SNL, No Late Night ,No Late Show!
It depends a bit on your age. Jerry in my opinion is absolute genius and was extremely funny in the show and also on the CD when it came out. Many have copied his style since and it gets a little repetitive so it's not as great as it was in the moment. But you have to remember the guy's comedy is not crude at all. That takes a special talent in itself to stay clean and be funny. Definitely top 10 of all timeout it doesn't mean I would rush of and see him now because comedy is funny in the moment.
See, I was born in 91 so I grew up on friends and still love it to this day. I've tried to watch Seinfeld as an adult but it's never really grabbed me. It's definitely a generational thing. I find Seinfeld a bit bland and basic but that's probably because my introduction to comedy was things that built on the Seinfeld formula and therefore were slightly more absurd or edgy. Having said that, I absolutely love Cheers so maybe I'm just talking bollocks.
@@BewleyUK9 "Friends is astronomically more popular than Seinfeld." That's just crazy. There's a big difference between "extremely popular show during the 90s" and "show that pretty much every single human being in America watched at its peak"
@@Joe_Yacketori Friends is re-run on prime time TV slots every single day, 2 decades after it finished. Friends merch is sold at supermarkets. There are friends action figures. There is an annual 'friends fest' where people can visit recreations of the set. Objectively, it is far more popular, because it's still embedded in modern pop culture, despite being 3 decades old. Just look at the revenue. Seinfeld was more popular when it was on, but friends has stood the test of time.
The part where you say "it's funny in the moment" is so spot on but also hard to explain. I've seen one Joe Rogan special and laughed at it but I was in highschool and it was just on TV. I didn't go out looking for it, it just popped on and my friend was like "hey did you know the fear factor guy was a comedian?" and I walked over to the couch and watched. I never sought out anything comedy related to him after that. Bill Bur, George Carlin, Dave Chappelle; these are comedians that if a bit pops up on RUclips or I think about one of their bits I will start binging all their stuff again. These, to me, are comedy geniuses that put effort and thought into what they're saying. Not just saying things that sound funny when you're having a casual conversation and not expecting to laugh. I'm sure any comedian can be funny when you're not expecting to laugh. But a comedian that can make you laugh when you're specifically trying to, is special.
rogan's specials got better though. his last one (maybe two years ago) wasn't bad. i would say the others prior *were* bad. rogan is a lot funnier than a lot of famous comedians, he's just not funnier than the good comedians
Yo be fair to Joe, his inspiration was former pastor turned comedian sam kinison who yelled and shrieked punch lines at the audience. And Joe came up around the time of Dane cook and other more physical/loud/funny voices types of comedy were all the rave. A lot of his stand up is from a by gone age where those things were funny, now they just seem hacky to our modern tastes.
Some comedians become really famous through being on Television and in Movies. Eventually they become way more famous than they are actually funny. I've gone back and watched old stand up routines and thought " How did this person become so famous for being funny."
I heard that the stool DID NOT consent and recently accused joe of Sexual Assault... Although I tend to believe it's another #metoo thing, and the stool is just hoping to cash in.
I hate Caviar. I can't speak to cat shit. I'll take Bill Burr over both of them as stand up's. Seinfield is just...objectively more successful and Rogan is not funny IMO. He tries to be Sam Kinison but...fails.
To be fair, neither have acts that generate buzz on RUclips. I haven’t seen rogans act in a while, but he was solid comic when he was coming up. I like Joe for his podcast. I think Seinfeld is over rated as a comic, his show was great-especially when it focused on George, Elaine or Kramer. But that “did you ever notice…” style of observational humor was old 30 years ago. I caught his new interview show, not my thing.
This doesn't make any sense at all. Joe has a podcast where he has conversations about a multitude of different topics geared more toward anything else to learn and educate. Yes, there are moments of slapstick and just nonsense, but the most part he's trying to push real conversation to expand knowledge and understanding. Jerry show is a very different experience and I agree is very good, but also very different. There is no comparison because they're apples and oranges
@@ChettaLoo I'm speaking more about the guests themselves. Joe will have all kinds of different comedians on, including up-and-coming or lesser-known comedians. Where is Jerry show is a who's-who of comedic giants. Dave Chappelle, Chris Rock, Louis c.k., Steve Martin, Martin Short, John Mulaney. Joe will have on more comedians that will be great now and in the future. Jerry deals with comedians who's resume speak for themselves. Peyton Manning had to be drafted, but he's in the Hall of Fame.
I recognize humour is subjective, but Joe Rogan is the ONLY comic routine I've every walked out on. He's got a great podcast with a lot of challenging guests but his stand-up is for Ed Hardy-shirted bros.
I completely agree with you about Rogan’s standup not being the least bit funny, in fact I find it annoying but he is funny in conversations on his podcast. Jerry Seinfeld on the other hand is funny in both spectrums, his sarcastic humor was hilarious on his sitcom and his observational standup is funny and even more impressive is that he didn’t use profanity on stage. It actually amazes me that Rogan had so much success in standup comedy!
Jerry is probably the least funny comic I’ve ever heard. Jerry is the perfect example of a man who got carried, HARD, by a better comic. Larry David carried Jerry’s unfunny self for years.
@@DaFactsNoNonsense1713 possibly. I find most of the time the standup specials of most comedians fall far short of how funny they are on podcasts. E.g. Rogan, Normand, Mullen, Oakerson (Rogan obviously the least funny of this group). Rare exceptions like Gillis are just funny all the time.
Joe made a show where he can have real conversations with interesting people, and people ate it up. His fame was a byproduct of him doing what he loves. Fast forward to the present, now the man can't piss without someone critiquing his form, but to be fair, Joe has done his best to stay as grounded as he possibly can

Every time I hear that Rogan is a comedian it feels like I live in an alternate universe where he actually is funny. He is the most unfunny «comedian» I know of, and it feels incredible to hear him or others refere to him as a comedian. Having said that, love the pod❤
I feel the same way. I knew him as the Fear Factor host and a UFC commentator. Dave Chappelle let him open up for him at arenas, just because of Joe's podcast audience.
Same! I’m kinda young so I only knew him as the host of Fear Factor before people started talking about his stand up in the early 90’s and recent years 😂 I watched almost all of it and it’s really fucking bad. Dude has the same material as a high school jock.
I'm getting on in years and love my comedy so i knew Joe was a comedian first and i've seen most of his stuff. Having said that, i watched a lot of it because of who he became otherwise I'd have decided he was terrible very early and moved on. I kept on trying because i liked his podcast and with all his experience and resources i assumed he would get better and funnier. About 4-5 years ago i stopped banging my head against that proverbial brick wall and finally accepted he's just shit. Having said that, i've not got much nice to say about Seinfeld either. 😁
Absolutely agree. Rogan stand up is awful and Seinfeld is great. Jerry is older, so his stand-up would have to be cleaner and more mainstream to be a success. I like more edgy stuff, but I enjoy some of his bits. Seinfeld, the show, is just one of the greatest sitcoms and still holds up today. Of course, Larry is 50% responsible for that.
Seinfeld made a standup career being squeaky clean, but his show pushes the envelope as far as was possible for mainstream network tv at the time which is part of the reason on why it is just so good even to this day. I have to wonder how much of the shows genius was down to Larry David though, there was a significant fall in quality once he left.
Seinfeld's stand-up isn't for everyone but it is really good. His show was excellent, but Seinfeld didn't even write a lot of it, Larry David did. Larry David was both the main writer and showrunner for the show.
Seinfeld is kinda like Michael Jordan in the sense that younger people today know he was great but they didn't experience the phenomenon when it was happening so they don't really have a grasp how huge they actually were.
@StreetPreacherr what? Probably the best 2 players in the nba right now are white, also I don't how this turned into basketball but Seinfeld and LeBron have one thing in common. They're both highly overrated.
@@scottbabien4395 Sorry, guess I'm not a comedian either... I actually don't even care about Lebron, and in the 90s Jordan TRANSCENDED basketball. He was one of the most famous people on the PLANET for awhile! Oh, and Michael's 'Space Jam' movie was DEFINITELY way better too. ;)
A corroborating incident was when Louis CK was on and Rogan was giving his take about our important Kinison was, and Louis didn't just disagree, he was genuinely perplexed that Rogan had this view. I think this is corroborating because there's a division between that kind of comedy and Seinfeld's. Louis kind of bridges both of them I think.
Although I'm not sure about disliking Rogan's comments about how the 'comedian's mind' is somehow superior, when Seinfeld seems to have the EXACT same belief. Just watch his Cars & Coffee shows where he ends up talking to other comedians about 'constructing jokes', and how comedians are 'always hyper aware' in every situation, and analyzing all of their experiences to determine if they could be a funny premise for a joke... While 'normal' people just don't have the same mindset.
I can imagine Jerry sitting in the studio with Joe smoking a blunt and talking about hunting bears and then trasitioning it into alien invasions and the next UFC title defense. I'd almost pay a patreon to see that. Then again, that might just be a whole different world for Jerry. I wouldn't want to put him through it all.

neither is jerry seinfeld. he was liked by johnny carson and blew up with the tv show. but despite his net worth and his hit show, seinfeld is not even close to being one of the greats. watch the video with louie, chris, ricky, and seinfeld. he literally criticizes them for having new special after new special saying a real comedian has 'the act' honed over years but essentially sticking to the same material, hence his special 'im telling you for the last time.' where he finally retired those bits. think if his show never happened, do you really think seinfeld would have reigned in standup? especially relying on the act cause supposedly this is something that real comedians do.

I 1000% agree with you opinion of Rogans stand up
I think people don't really appreciate how funny Seinfeld was at his peak on stage.

@@TheRealDebussyFarts
I think there's an element of cause and effect in your comment.

Then he used his background in MMA to land announcer gigs. Then he used his background in TV, comedy, and MMA to land great interviews as a podcaster.
Oh my god, you LITERALLY fast forward through those bits! Literally! That's fucking incredible!
Comedians in Cars is one of the great podcasts (it's basically one) of the past decade. Who else could get that array of stars and get honest and raw stories and opinions out of them. Yes, Jerry laughed a lot in a kinda fake way, but lots of great moments.
That show is MID af
Lmfao good lord no. It’s awful. He’s a legend of his time thanks to Larry David.

It's not a podcast when you have camera crew following you around. Secondly he doesn't always have comedians on the show so it defeat the title of the show.
Made me despise Steve Harvey
I think you've done a really good job creating a story where there isn't one. Mmm, rephrase: you've done a good job of injecting conflict where there isn't any - and that creates story. You saw possibility and crafted a story around that possibility. You brought a lot of good skills to this production - wish I had some of them. In the end I felt the story was more fabrication than reality.
Facts
True, but Rogan has been particularly silence about Seinfeld. When Pauly Shore was in the podcast and mentioned that Mitzi Shore did not like Seinfeld, there was no follow up commentary on it.
Oof rough truth
Majority of his videos are just hating for the sake of hating and exaggerating tf out of interactions. I'm starting to feel like one of these comedians stole his girl or something
IOW clickbait
Why can’t I like both for different reasons? Two different types of humor. One is for water cooler talk and the other is for the boys on Friday or Saturday morning at 05:00 in a duck blind.
I wouldn't know who either of these guys were without their *non-standup* work.
Thing is Jerry isn't funny either. He's a parasite that made a career out of Larry Davids genius.

Joe doesn’t and hasn’t done tv talk shows in 20 years. He only does podcasts. Look back at his history . He stopped doing movies too. He stated ages ago he was done with all of them and has kept his word. Do a little research. No SNL, No Late Night ,No Late Show!

Yeah I wouldn’t watch every episode or whatever, but I’ve seen the episodes that feature comedians I’m a fan of and it’s solid
Yeah it was good haha
It's an awesome show..this dude running this clip or Channel whatever you call it just sucks ha

You could go out to downtown Baltimore, say that in front of a tweaked out homeless person, and they would say you're crazy without skipping a beat.
Yeah , there’s no beef! They are just indifferent to each other …. No drama needed.
Gotta love Andrew Schultz, whose comedy identity is a hip haircut and funny ironic mustache, criticizing Jerry Seinfeld.

I hate Caviar. I can't speak to cat shit. I'll take Bill Burr over both of them as stand up's.

JRE is the NFL Draft. Comedians in Cars getting Coffee is the Hall of Fame.
This is a pretty spot on comparison.

The actual origin of comedy in Seinfeld is not Jerry Seinfeld, it is Larry David!
"I don't know about you but I think that's funny as fuck" was the best possible and also funniest conclusion to the facts at hand.
Seinfeld was part of a comedy troupe. It wasn't all him. That show wouldn't have been successful without the foursome. Just because it had his name the show was not a hit because of him alone.
He never claimed to be, he always said the show was like The Beatles, you needed all four of them...and I'm sure he would give huge credit to Larry David and others too.
Larry David had a lot to do with the success of that show, not just the cast.
The show went downhill when Larry David left
@matttrafton2725 What do you mean he wouldn’t have been as successful without them, He was already famous before the TV show! He was already doing stand-up and made it by then, Just because you might not have heard of him before that it doesn’t mean the rest of the world hasn’t!

Nah Rogan is hilarious, and Jerry is a legend. Both can be funny
Seinfeld blows. Cheers is better.
Another uninformed hater
Seinfeld's stand-up isn't for everyone but it is really good. His show was excellent, but Seinfeld didn't even write a lot of it, Larry David did. Larry David was both the main writer and showrunner for the show.
Seinfeld is kinda like Michael Jordan in the sense that younger people today know he was great but they didn't experience the phenomenon when it was happening so they don't really have a grasp how huge they actually were.

Comedians in cars is amazing. Seinfeld amazing. His stand up decent
I agree with Jerry Sienfeld on his philosophy that clean comedy is more creative because its harder to pull off.
Cheap humor is boring
A corroborating incident was when Louis CK was on and Rogan was giving his take about our important Kinison was, and Louis didn't just disagree, he was genuinely perplexed that Rogan had this view. I think this is corroborating because there's a division between that kind of comedy and Seinfeld's. Louis kind of bridges both of them I think.
This was heart breaking and heart warming at the same time.
Comedians in cars getting coffee is often pure gold
Rogans stand up is a reaaaal challenge to get through
I can imagine Jerry sitting in the studio with Joe smoking a blunt and talking about hunting bears and then trasitioning it into alien invasions and the next UFC title defense. I'd almost pay a patreon to see that. Then again, that might just be a whole different world for Jerry. I wouldn't want to put him through it all.
