How to Set Up and Program an LCD on the Arduino

- hello and welcome back to creative stuff..
In this video we are going to connect and test an 16x2 LCD display with ARDUINO UNO..
For the LCD display to work with arduino we are going to need the lcd we will need the liquidcrystal library of the arduino ide...we dont need to download the library ,you can find it in examples of your arduino IDE.You can use LCD display of any configuration to work with arduino using this library.
To make the LCD display work with arduino we are going to need(I have used) the following components:-
1 Breadboard
2 Arduino UNO
3 16X2 LCD display
4 10K potentiometer
5 connecting wires
6 powersupply for arduino and LCD display
Here is the full pin connections of the 16x2 LCD display:-
pin 1----------GND---------Arduino GND
pin 2----------VCC---------Arduino 5V
pin 3----------VEE---------Middle pin of 10K pot
pin 4------reg. select-----Arduino pin 12
pin 5------readd/write-----Arduino GND
pin 6------data enable-----Arduino pin 11
pin 7--------data 1--------not used
pin 8--------data 2--------not used
pin 9--------data 3--------not used
pin 10-------data 4--------not used
pin 11-------data 5--------Arduino pin 4
pin 12-------data 6--------Arduino pin 4
pin 13-------data 7--------Arduino pin 3
pin 14-------data 8--------Arduino pin 2
pin 15-------BL LED+-------Arduino 5v
pin 16-------BL LED- -------Arduino GND

I've also found a way to put different text on the screen, look at the code, it will say ("Hello World") then just change the text.
like so here ---> ("Your text here") then whatever you put in the code it will say! just a quick tip. thank you! 👍 😀

If incase anybody didn't have a potentiometer connect that pin to GND not 5V it will work good..
Thanks a lot Thianesh INDIAN AERO! I do have a potentiometer but your suggestion to move my pin to ground worked regardless. My screen was blank at first, but I replaced one of the 5 volt connections to my potentiometer with a ground connection and it displays "hello, world!" now. It has a blinking text cursor, although the text doesn't blink. Not sure if it's 100% working right now, but a huge improvement.

my lcd panel is only glowing in green light and I am not able to even see any blocks inside the lcd..after uploading the code , nothing is being changed on the lcd .. can someone help me?

Its your choice, you can even do it in vertical lines as well where the led has been connected, check a tutorial on "current flow in breadboard" and you'll understand

Thanks bro but what if we have given 3.3V instead of 5V
That should be fine or else if ur lcd uses more than 3v then you'll need relay switch to power your LCD from external power supply

I replaced one of my 5v pins to my potentiometer with a ground pin. The LCD screen displays "hello, world!" now. it doesn't blink though, so no promises your project will be perfect if you try what I tried. Good luck!

Does this work on all kinds of LCD?
No
It will work with other type LCDs with some change in code according to the LCD module
