So I have found a little more information about the promo cards. P1 and P2 were very likely the tournament promo cards. Stores could order x number of tournament kits depending on interest. They received 20 copies of a tournament participation card and 1 copy of a tournament winner card. P3 was included in the first 10,000 copies of the Gold Edition of the only released Dragon Booster DVDs. P4 and P5, like stated earlier, were Judge redemption promos (although a copy of each was likely included in the tournament kits as additional prizes or to be given to the judge of the event). Looking on the back of a booster box, they state there is some strange rare parallel foil card and place it at 1:24 (1 card every 24 packs). I've never heard or seen any of these cards so I believe they might not actually exist. Have any information on that?
I've uploaded the binder I bought to my channel. Found the missing Fluid Energy in the binder so it had the entire set in foil (1-168, then all the see through cards), and all the promos. Feel free to check it out. I'll get scans of the OP cards up eventually.
Hi there. Trying to find information about this game is...difficult. So it seems there is a foil and non-foil version of the non-clear cards, correct? I am trying to figure out what cards I need. I just purchased a binder of them from someone who got them from someone who worked for Score Entertainment. Inside the binder seems to be a foil copy of every card that can be foil (unsure if non-foil is included or not, the pictures seem like they have 2 cards in a sleeve) but it was missing 77 Fluid Energy (or it was misplaced). Interesting you talk about the Promo cards as all 5 Promo cards and all 12 OP cards were included in the binder. I wonder if there was ever a public release. I know P4 and P5 were released as Judge Point Redemption promos. I am unsure on the rest, or how the OP cards would be attained (likely at a bigger event, but unsure if that ever happened). I just hope Fluid Energy is included in the collection I bought and was placed into the wrong place by accident. I am searching as I type this, it seems MAYBE the OP cards were given out at Wizard World Philly as this was labeled as a "big event". KublaCon on the West Coast is another possibility. But since turnouts were likely small, it's possible these promos were never given out. Very interesting...I'll upload a video on the cards after the New Year :) Cheers!
There is indeed very little as the website used Flash for lots of its stuff. But also, it didnt really seem to have a life from what i can tell. I cannot substantiate if it is merely urban legend or not about the tournaments "not happening". No one i have tried to contact with their name on it has responded. It is a shame as i actually LIKE the design and think the game was a breath of fresh air for a time when everything was fighting either 1v1, or over contested zones, etc.
@@cardboardresurrection9987 I talked with someone who worked for Score Entertainment at the time who worked a bit with Dragon Booster a bit earlier today. So here’s what I found out. The first set was released to coincide with the show and Score was predicting the show would be as popular as the likes of Inuyasha and Dragonball Z. It did not reach that popularity. Tournament kits were made and a few sent out to stores that requested it. These contained some of the promos (likely P1, P2, P3). P4 and P5 were judge redemption promos. The OP promos are interesting. So Score had a big tournament in Cali for Dragon Booster. They rented out a space for up to either 32 or 64 players. 0 signed up. 0 showed up. So the person running the event returned the OP cards back to Score Ent. They then announced a cancellation of all further events. As such, the OP cards never got officially released. Some may have been given to employees as gifts, some may have been given out at non-Dragon Booster events. Many were thrown out when Score Ent closed its doors. It is alleged that many locals raided the dumpster containing a lot of the cards that were discarded and it’s possible Dragon Booster was among the ceased product. Unfortunately, it was more likely that no one wanted it and it remained in the dumpster that later got disposed of. So it’s entirely possible I will soon own the promos that nobody else got their hands on, which I find very neat and cool. I plan to scan the cards and send them over to RetroDBZ to be entered into their card library for all Score Ent games. Whew, that was a lot to type, lol
