I work in a Cummins shop- it's among my favorites. I also love the sound of a big cam 855, or an N-14 Mechanical....especially when the jakes are applied. The old L10's sound good too in a low geared dump truck.
Made the mistake of selling my 97 12 valve 5 speed last year. Finally found one today that came up. 96 12 valve 5 speed that im trying to get. Wish me luck lol
to me stacks werent as loud outside the truck, had a stack on my 12valve and now just a side exit with a 6 inch tip 4 inch exhaust, sounds much louder and deeper. The stack sounded louder in the cab just to it being closer to me.
@@Sunde53 because the sounds shoots straight up in the air. Where a normal rear exist echo's off of everything I've changed my exhaust 100 times the best sound is the factory location of course with 5 inch all the way back it has something to do with the longer the exhaust the better it sounds idk
I've got a 24 valve. I've grown very partial to how the smaller inline diesels sound when compared to their V8 counterparts. Wouldn't mind figuring out what exhaust you're running. It makes that 12 valve sound amazing!

What size pipe and length combo? I want to do a 4 inch into a 5 inch pipe to deepen the sound. What’s your best estimate on length and diameter? ( Example) 8 feet of 3.5 inch for 6 feet Into 5 inch For 4 feet” etc..
@Teddyman95 A second gen swap is just dropping in a second gen style manifold and bigger turbo to the same location it was on the second gen trucks. Obviously sound is a big factor when people do these swaps.
How's the L/100km on this thing? I wonder how often do you have to refuel something like this and how much does it cost in Europe, considering our fuel prices are higher than the USA's. I'd love to own one like yours in the future and hope you can answer me, and great video.
Im going to try to answer this as best as I can, but I will make some assumptions. A standard way of measuring in Sweden is liters per 10km, converting 1 liter per 10km to miles per gallon will give a result of 23.5. My guess is that this truck gets somewhere below that, I will hazard a guess at 1.5 liters per 10km avarage, which is somewhere around 16 miles per gallon. A liter of diesel in Sweden costs roughly $1.50 and a gallon holds close to 3.8 liters, which gives us a price of $5.70 per gallon. I would guess this truck has a 35 gallon tank, so a full tank would cost about $199.50 and would get you about 560 miles. Hope this was helpfull.
@@PowerToolism thanks for this conversion math this was awesome too read! $199 dollars that's crazy lol side not these trucks have been known to get high teens, low twenties for MPG. 25 isnt out of the realm of possibility with one
plenty of dealerships who import american cars/trucks here in scandinavia. here in norway i see dodge and chevrolets pretty often. im sure that in sweden theres way more compared to norway
Wish my 12v sounded that smooth. Mine has a whine that nobody can find but it’s driving me nuts!!!! Can’t even hear the turbo. Mine don’t have a bov either 😔
Here n the Old Continent that kind of engine is usually found in an actual truck that can carry about 5x what the RAM can. Or a tractor. Comparing straight six turbo diesel to (Mercedes) V12 naturally aspirated gasoline is apples to oranges, but I gotta say I like both. One is for work (torque) and one is for luxury. I guess I'm kinda diesel guy tho, a bit. ruclips.net/video/eQkh_ksTgcg/видео.html
What have you done to the engine to make it “coo”? I have a 6bt with an hx40, twin 3” stacks but it won’t coo between gear changes like yours does and I really want it to!
your hx 40 is why it doesn't. Its the design of the stock hx35 exhaust housing that makes that noise. It gets much louder once you turn the boost up on those turbos.
Been looking into building one from the frame up because I want a 1st gen so bad, and buying a clapped out one that has rust holes all over it will still run you like 10k because the owners of these are on meth or something. But, gotta say, love these trucks.
what a beautiful drive a nice view of the sunrise and the mountain and in a forest i would love to take my wife there and my first born child there to to enjoy the view
Yea I hear a lot of people say a 6.0 sounds best. I own a 6.0, and I like the sound, but a 12v sounds great to me. Always love seeing them.
warms my heart to see these cars being well maintained
I’m the same. I have a 6.0 also but damn I love Cummins sound
I had one, personally wasn’t a fan it sounds okay till the rpm’s get high, than it sounds like a fat chick farting through squeezed butt cheeks.
I’m a diehard Ford guy but damn the 12v is the best sounding diesel of all time
I disagree. Only engine I think sounds better is the old Detroit 2 strokes

@@synshenron798i think those sound a little annoying. Maybe its because of weedeaters and blowers, idk. they sound good at idle until they rev up.

@Teddyman95 A second gen swap is just dropping in a second gen style manifold and bigger turbo to the same location it was on the second gen trucks. Obviously sound is a big factor when people do these swaps.
Both 5.9 and 6.7 common rail engines are capable of this. The in-line 6 platform makes it very easy to do this swap.

How does that sound come when you let go the throttle
Obviously has stacks, any mods under the hood? Just curious. Beautiful truck I love it sounds incredible.
