    Good advice! My question is always this: how do you know WHEN to make your project/idea an actual business entity? What if I rarely make any sales, or what if I never profit because expenses are always higher? How do you know when to legally make it the LLC vs just keep it a side hustle.

    • @RecordingStudioLoser
      @RecordingStudioLoser  3 года назад +5

      There are so many tax benefits, and extra protections in place when you DO make it "legal"... that I think if you are to the point of asking that question you are probably there already.
      about profit vs expense that If you aren't making a profit you wont be allowed to operate as a business for long. In the eyes of the government, or otherwise... That said finding ways to cut expenses and maximize profit is the constant focus of most businesses. (he says over-simplifying...)

      @@RecordingStudioLoser Thats where I struggle personally. At this point in my life im single and (for better or for worse) really dont have anyone in my life I need to take care of in the future. This leads me to put pretty much every penny after basic living expenses back into the studio resulting in a lot of red months

    • @RecordingStudioLoser
      @RecordingStudioLoser  3 года назад

      Well being red and asset investment are two different things. Depreciation can help you out a ton in that area. If it’s going back to the business and you not truly operating at a loss…. Because most of us will be single party LLCs (we are the business in a weird way).

    I’m actually in indiana too, so our markets are probably pretty similar. But I’m lost man I have no idea where to start on this side of things, and literally NO ONE I can ask, no available mentors. So any help would be greatly appreciated dude.
    By the way I love your videos so far, I’ve watched a ton of them haha I’m shocked you aren’t WAY more popular on here

    It sounds like theres a waiver form for use of equipment & things of the sort. Im interested in this template I wonder how it could be utilized for an appointment booking app, along the lines of the box you have to check to give consent. This is a question lol

    Also, thanks for putting this video together. Now, is Brenden available to give a free consultation, and what's the best way to contact him? Is there anyway he or you could help advise what an independent music artist with recordings archived but not published or mastered should do? What's the best first few steps and why? Thanks in advance. 🙂❤🌎🙏

      If you wanting legal advice I doubt it’s free. But he’s a great guy that I trust to ask when I have questions. He has a contact form on his site.

    Question: If you own your home (not renting), and you have a dedicated space to your business within that home. ie, a recording studio, can you claim any deduction from your property taxes on that space - whether you have any income generated- or not - from that (business) space?

    • @RecordingStudioLoser
      @RecordingStudioLoser  3 года назад +1

      Yes absolutely you can. Of course I’m making the assumption that your in the US.

    Do you know it would be really really cool? If you put in some advice about that was more important contracts like the ones that you offer on your website that you mentioned at the end of the video. That’s actually the whole reason I watch this video and the other one featuring the same guy. I am booking a client for music production right now there is paranoid about getting screwed over so I won’t be very hard for me to get her to sign a contract she’ll be happy for the protection, but I have no idea what I need to put in my contract my calendar divide services up or whatever and everything. So I sat you’re paying me blank amount of money for blank services? How do I separate charges for things like mixing & mastering? Line item charges? Or what? I’d just send an invoice but I want to set the precedent & seal it in writing the payment process when they’ll get the tracks and when they pay. And beyond that, how should I send the finished product? What is the standard practice on finishing projects as a producer running a small time studio? Should I save the project as a file and send over all the individual tracks/stems as well, is that a normal request?

    • @RecordingStudioLoser
      @RecordingStudioLoser  2 года назад

      Some of what your asking is case by case. File delivery stuff like that, some clients want things a certain way and they'll tell you. I do 99% digital delivery for services.
      The contract stuff is easy to overthink. But if you want a binding contract you need to talk to a lawyer or buy a set that works for you. The set I was talking about was what Brenden (the guy in had on talk to ) made. I link to them in the description. Or if you have question you can reach out to him. I'm hesitant to answer and legal questions because I'm not a lawyer.

      Hi there! There are a few questions in here that I can help with, some of these are down to how you want to run your business. As far as the payment for services and separating charges, my general approach would be to use a table and give line items estimating the time spent on each item (mixing, mixing note review, mastering, final revisions, etc.) with an hourly rate for each. Be clear that it's an estimate, and that any time spent above the estimate will be billed at the rate identified in the table. The templates one my website set you up pretty nicely to do just what you're talking about, and I'm available for any questions you might have, or customization if needed!

    200 dollars for document templates that you can't even preview what they look like? I understand some time and thought have went into these documents and they should be very beneficial however, at least give us a preview of the documents on his page. I'm not spending 200 without being able to preview what they even contain.

    • @RecordingStudioLoser
      @RecordingStudioLoser  2 года назад

      To be clear I don't control his site. However you can reach out like he said. Just ask him. He is pretty accessible.

    • @drivegritdetermination
      @drivegritdetermination 2 года назад

      Hi there! I understand some concern over a preview, but especially with documents, the contents are the value. The download package includes a "how-to/readme" type document, giving insight into how you might use the templates for your own purposes, as well as an invoice template and a couple of other documents that might come in handy. As far as the agreement itself, it covers soup to nuts protections for both the studio and the artist for a recording project. Keep in mind there's a discount code, good for $50 off the $200 price, making the docs a real steal compared to what you'd need to pay a lawyer in your area to draft something similar.

    Hi. 🙂
    Please, let us pray together. Dear God who art in heaven hallowed be thy name thy kingdom come thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us and lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil for thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever in Jesus Christ's name we pray amen.
    1 Corinthians 16:14
    Let all that you do be done in love.
    Philippians 4:19
    And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Jesus Christ.
    2 Corinthians 1:2
    Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.
    May all suffering end as we give thanks this day. May God's face shine upon us forever on Earth as it is in Heaven in Jesus Christ's name we pray for His name and for His sake. Amen.
