    This conversation is so important. On the topic of disrespect and shame, we need to speak on being the person on the other side. You can be so blinded by your "pure intentions", your "banter" that you can't imagine a world where you're just wrong. We've all been on that side of the fence, it stings. It takes real maturity to navigate that.

    Yoh this topic 😢 I was bullied at work and when I confronted the person, she somehow shamed me about it and brushed it off by saying “oh I didn’t know you’re sensitive “ till this day I do not talk to her

    Just a tip here. I have realised that when someone says something insulting and with malicious intentions,the best strategy is to reverse the shame with a come back like"Are you okay?, Can you repeat the question, does that make you feel good about yourself?, or simply sarcastically agree with them...that usually throws the attacker off, it catches them off gaurd and they end up feeling embarrassed.

    These reflections resonated with me and so many situations I've had to navigate. The examples about speaking up for yourself at work are much easier to navigate because there are labour laws, anti-bullying policies, anti-harrasment laws to protect you. What about the in-law relationships where a "makoti" is expected to be docile and never offended, assimilate to the toxicity or ship out. The in-law relationship has been thee hardest to navigate there's no societal attempt to improve that relation.
    On the last part, about children coming back "sickly" after visiting the father, it comes from the assumption that it is the father's new partner who harmed the child. Similar situation with my partner's child visiting him, the mother assumed I had spent the weekend with the child. Reported the child was sickly, asked the father to ask if I had noticed anything with the child. The child miraculously recovered when she found out I was away the entire weekend, I never interacted with the child😢😢😢

    Hey guys,I have enjoyed this conversation so much,so Healthy and easy.
    I understand there's no specific verse ...Mara if we're trying to be "Christ-like"...if we're trying to follow Jesus.
    Then we should Know Jesus Only Had One bride(The church), not two.
    Just my thoughts

    Beautiful conversation indeed!!!
    Only the part of Christianity not forbidding marrying multiple wives, I disagree with Given and would like to get and understanding of how he arrived to it, please give reference to the claims. In the backdrop of that read Matthew 19:3-9, you will see that from the beginning it’s been one MAN one WIFE otherwise scripture would have clearly stated WIVES or HUSBANDS.
    Also I would want to bring to your attention v8 key word being allowed/permitted due to stubborn heart. So divorce and polygamy are the fruits of our hardened hearts, and not the fruits of God’s perfect design.
    Additionally, on the Bishops/Elders/Overseers passage, specifics of one wife are mentioned and it is clearly for church administration and discipline but there is however no endorsement of polygamy to non-leaders. Therefore, with no endorsement we can’t disapprove the first mention of one Man to one wife.
    To add more colour, first mention say MAN and WIFE, as to 1. A man and wives, 2. A woman and husbands, 3. Aman and a husband, 4. A woman and wife and 5. Divorce those are outside of scope they are the fruits of our hearts but they don’t necessarily mean that God doesn’t love us, He loves us regardless of the conditions of our orientation and status.

    Given, your understanding re the Bible is incorrect. The Bible says a man shall leave his father and his mother and will join with his wife, and the two shall become one. Paul never spoke of bishops. That title/ office is not part of 7 fold ministries.

    • @NtokozoBee
      @NtokozoBee Месяц назад

      Paul does speak about bishops and that they should only have one wife in 1 Timothy 3.
