Great interview. I'll soon be a new girl father so I appreciated that question! Also, I hope Jackie plays around with adding emphasis in her raps with changing up the tone and flow in order to have memorable moments in the rap. Her rapping and writing is top tier in my book, but adding in some memorable moments in the rap (like Andy Mineo or Lecrae) could really help it stand out more IMO. I'm sure Reach has the beats, collabs, and hooks on tap already haha
As a CHH artist I believe we have to have people be better versed in CHH that are giving their opinion in the space. Not only do we have lyricists we have a multitude of artists that "can rap"! At this point we even have amazingly gifted battle rappers such as A Ward, Streethymns, Loso ect. Datin is a great lyricist. And I could go on... As an artist with music featured on rapzilla I want us within the space to be kinder to this space and more educated in its rich history from the legacy of Crossmovment on up to what it's become today. Also with Jackie being from STL let's not forget legends like Flame, This'l and J'son.

j monty, taelor gray, eshon burgundy, jered sanders, a.i the anomaly oh mehn sooo many lyricists especially in underground CHH like j. Murph, Johnny Dukane, Elijah Jaron wheew. i haven't even mentioned pioneers like knine, kj 52, t bone whew. that was a definitely poor take. but still love Jackie Art of Joy is a classic

Yea, somebody gon have to put Jackie on Game.. I agree with Indie tribe for the most part, and With her perspective on Aha.. I think she might be looking at relevancy/Popularity too.. There is a lot of fluff in the genre so that could be whats she's judging it off of idk.

Right now I'm more satisfied with the lyrical content but before it was roughh just had a hand few. But dat couldn't hold my attention I had to gravitate back to secular lyricist if u would. But these last couple years it's nice to see more loving the craft
I'm gonna go out on a limb and say that Jackie Hill Perry doesn't listen to a lot of Christian hip-hop. That might be a real possibility.....because there's no you can't name a TOP 5, a TOP 10 or even TOP 20 favorite lyricists if you're really paying attention to the CHH space. There's sooo many to name. 4:27

She will quote J. Cole and Kendrick but not know top 5 in our genre? When will we as artists actually support the platform that we participate in? Now I know CHH can be ugly because we are fallen creatures in need of Jesus but as long as Christ is glorified we should listen. Especially we should listen if we listen to secular music.
