Lars said himself he doesn't like to sit and drum on his own... Explains a fucking lot... He's like a broken metronome that hasn't been serviced for about 20 years now. - Sad. He was a great example to me on any recording up until and including 'St. Anger'. - He still put some good stuff on the two albums after that (although you can still hear/feel him rush on "Deaf Magnetic"), but live... Not the same person.
How can somebody not like this? There are surely drummers that are better, faster, more technical, ... but who cares. You can see that the man lives and enjoys music with every cell of his body. Such a humble and fun person. For me he's a living legend!

I think today there are a lot of technical better drummers than the old guys like him, Nick Mason or many others. But when i sometimes hear actual band especially metal bands i always have the impression 4 ore more individuals play their instrument and show what they can do. But there is no music anymore coming out of this.
Drumming isn't that hard. Don't hold the sticks too tightly and practice consistently (hopefully under the guidance of a qualified teacher) and you can do what he's doing relatively easily.

You didn't even say anything about the common 40 rudiments to be learned, and also not to mention when you hit a rut. Almost anything is possible but it won't always come as easily as it may seem.
@@yoboisteven1741 I mentioned "qualified teacher" who will most likely teach all the rudiments and a whole lot more. Lazy students will not achieve much success. Proper practice is essential. Your mileage may vary. Good luck.

Nicko has been a part of my life from my mid-teens to now being middle-aged in my 50's and he's still rockin'! God that makes me so happy. Fortunate to see him play live twice as a young man - one was the Powerslave tour. The giant Eddie stretching across the stage as Bruce ran from stack to stack on each side. Greatest metal performers I've ever seen. Thank you Nicko!
Yeah this is certainly one of the inconic ones... I remember spending weeks upon weeks learning that fill, practicing the triplets and then quadruplets in the middle section! I was in an Iron Maiden tribure band for quite a few years and was gutted we never got to do this one live!

I gave it a thumbs up simply cause hes awesome with 1 bass drum. He's got about the best single foot bass playing around hands down. Hes right up there with John Bonham in single foot playing in my opinion.
I like his rare power and his tasty and soulful playing. He plays with finesse and creativity, sometimes he does utterly crazy things. He never sounds boring. What a great Drummer!
As a lifelong drummer myself I can honestly say that this guy BLOWS............past anything I could ever dream of doing on a kit. I've seen him live and he's phenomenal. Up the GD Irons ! Rock on 🤘
It was mine too! Well, technically the first Maiden album I listened to. I bought Piece of Mind and Number of the Beast at the same time. Listened to POM first. I bought them because of the cover art. That’s usually how I went about finding new music back in the 80’s.

In the 80s i listened to Maiden... My favorite album was piece of mind..i listened to Where Eagles Dare thousands of times..then in like 2002..i was asleep on the couch and left the 📺 Tv on. I usually dont wake easily.. But i hear an Old man say "The cable car is the only way in its Really impossible to climb" I rolled over to stare at the Tv .. And it was an old movie Where Eagles Dare.. Then i realized that the song was written about the movie...as was Dune ,Quest for Fire. And others.. Got to see maiden live finally back in 2001..still one of my favorites..

I’m so glad he’s back with Sonor. I love this old phonic plus hi-tech kit and of course love his two recent S2Q kits. I agree with him. I miss the sound of the Ludwig silver dot heads on the Sonors. My favorite metal/progressive hard rock drummer. He’s been a huge influence since I was a kid learning to play in 1983. He’s brilliant.

Clive was great and his groove is incomparable, but nicko added some more energy to maiden just what the band needed when they were writing piece of mind.

He's got groove and "feel", which for a lot of music is better than speed and technicality.
