    Nice job, man! Looking good. I never thought to put carnivorous plants in, but it makes total sense. Great call! I’ll have to add some. I love the mini orchids in mine.

      I want to hunt down some mini orchids at some point! The mini pitcher plants are a cool edition as they frogs are to big to get sucked in and they add some funky contrast in there.

      Mist with RODI water and have a small fan inside for circulation

    We keep these back in the mid 90s lol....none of this equipment was available. The lighting were crude at best and we used spray bottles to mist the enclosure which was a 55 Gal with bromiliades and ferns.

      A Florescent bulb and a hand mister can certainly do the job! .. but who are we kidding! Automation is addicting hehe !

    loving the updates (keep em coming) you have something very similar to what i aspire to build. I was curious if you fertilize the plants in anyway and if so how.

    • @ReefDudes
      @ReefDudes  8 месяцев назад

      I dont fertalize the plants as all.. decomposing leaves, frog poop ect do that for me. and i only mist with reverse osmosis water

    Wow, your tank is gorgeous. Did you say, that with the grow out tank, you applied substrate directly to the wet foam? I've seen shorts where a guy does this, and I've always wondered how well it holds up. It so intuitive, since the wet foam is very extremely sticky, yet everyone just does the carving and silicone method, which is extremely tedious and exhausting. So what's your verdict on this method? Would you ever go back to carving and using silicone?

    • @ReefDudes
      @ReefDudes  9 месяцев назад

      Silicone then coco seems to look a bit better and hold more moisture. The foam and coco direct is a bit more sparse in the coco Fiber content and doesn’t retain moisture as well (but if you mist often may not be an issue) but waaaay less work for good results

    I can't wait to build mine. I''ve wanted one for so long but were in the proccess of finding/buying a house so I'm not setting up anything else until we move. I'm going to take your advice and drill the bottom panel for draining. Which brand of terrarium did you use? Also which brand of mist system? I feel like the MistKing setup is way overpriced for what it is. I feel like I could build a better one now that I'm pretty handy with running r.o systems and different gizmos.

    • @ReefDudes
      @ReefDudes  10 месяцев назад +1

      Overly priced mist king :P. Picked up both used. Glass tank is expterra and the other is leap habitats.
      I actually used a RO pump first. Only tricky thing was trimming it. Keep an eye out for a used Mk if your not in a rush. Controller is the big advantage to it
