  • This lecture deals with the design of tension and compression steel members in a bridge. The lecture consists of two parts. Part one of the lecture (this video) presents the bridge analysis. Part 2 (link below) deals with the actual design of the tension and compression members forming the side trusses supporting the bridge.
    A Microsoft Excel app has been developed and used in Part 1 to analyze the structure under the live (train) load. The app can be downloaded from the following link.
    Note: This app uses Visual Basic code to perform the necessary structural analysis computations. You may need to provide Excel with permission to run macros; otherwise, the sheets may not update correctly.
