Where I live the houses and buildings are made of concrete slabs and walls of cinder block filled with mortar, water pipes are embedded therefore water leaks make no noise even at high pressures.
Not a plumber but great clear video. I'm here because I just found a leak after searching youtube for tips. I was locking up the house late one night and could hear a hissing sound coming through the kitchen taps. I checked all the usual, garden taps, toilet cistern etc and then checked the water meter and roughly calculated it was losing about a litre per minute. Next morning I went round with a screwdriver to my ear on all the accessible pipework, the noisiest spot was thankfully outside towards the water meter, but background noise from neighbours pool pumps etc prevented precise location. I dug several holes in the garden, on the 4th hole the soil was wet, and I found the pinhole.
Could you make a video for the same work for the counsel? Im starting a new job, in a new field doing leakfinding+++ for the counsel. We dont do homes and stuff, but everything before that :)
I am in PA, the meters are inside the house here and the city shut off is near the curb line. We do water line repairs outside, the water lines are usually about 4 to 5 feet deep and between 30 to 80 feet long. The material of pipe can be copper, CTS, Poly, or Galvanized. Will this equipment and training be useful for us here in PA?
Hi Roger, I see that you offer training in Palm Springs. I live in Southern California about an hour west of Palm Springs. I am interested in having someone come out to perform a leak test on my home. Is there anyone that you would recommend and put your trust behind? Thanks in advance.
None of these plumber videos tell you how long to watch the water pressure with a gauge and should the pressure drop (if any at all) in that time period. For example, should the pressure be rock solid in that 15 minutes and not move at all, or is a drop of 2 psi or so acceptable in that 15 minute period?
Hey Expert Plumber, I was hoping you could answer a couple of questions for me about going about getting my license. I am currently a new building inspector for the city of Pearland Texas and I now I have to get my license to inspect other plumbers. I understand about having so and so hours of education / field experience. The only thing that is worrying me is How do I get my license as I have a felony conviction on my record ? I’m not understanding if I should I apply now even though I’m not taking the exam anytime soon or should I wait until I take it ? My conviction is more than 10 years old and it happened as I was in my teens. It was robbery charge that and it’s my only mistake since then. If you could please help me out with this I would really appreciate it. Thank you
A felony record seems to be practically a job requirement for plumbers in Oklahoma. Kidding.. not kidding.. I've had a lot of plumbers work for me that have felonies, but we do commercial new construction. I am sure Texas doesn't care either but idk
I live in Charlotte, North Carolina. Where can I find this equipment and training? I've been in plumbing for 30 years, in business for almost 12. Thanks!
Roger do you offer Leak Detection training. I heard Palm Springs in conversation and I’m in Broward County I’d be happy to come up your way if you have a leak detection course soon or in the future.
@@RogerWakefield I went to your website I see there is a baseline $300 course which i am happy to purchase. I’m however very interested in more comprehensive trading for a leak detection business. I was wondering if we could have a private conversation about hiring you as a consultant to provide indepth training.
Did a leak detection today and tried your method/advice You're right, not a lot of pressure is needed from the compressor to get the bubble sound when introduced to the line. Thank you Roger!
This guy is a business owner and a sales man not an honest plumber this is what confuses me because while he is out making videos on you tube he probably has hard working individuals working with no license and aren't registered thru the state board just to benefit his business I've seen this to much and every 20,000 $ job you have is every employee on your job certified by the tsbpe all I hear is money 💰 🤑 money !!WHAT ABOUT THE OATH I TOOK WHEN I GOT MY LICENSE NUMBER "AS A PLUMBER I IM HERE TO PROVIDE MY SERVICE AND PROTECT THE HEALTH OF OUR NATION "YOU BUSINESS OWNERS LOOK PAST THAT BECAUSE I KNOW FOR A FACT IVE SEEN TEXAS GROW IN WEALTH AND POPULATION BUT WHAT YOU GUYS DONT UNDERSTAND IS THAT ITS THE SMART MIGRANTS MAKING THIS HAPPEN SHOW ME A VIDEO OF A WHITE CREW TOPPING OUT A NEW HOME IN ONE DAY BETTER YET SHOW ME A WHITE CREW ON THE JOB SITE
He runs a union service company. If you know much or have watched many of his videos where he talks about his business and employees you would know he's probably about as legitimate as a plumbing company gets.
Love my old mechanics stethoscope. One of my favorite tools on the truck. Co-workers make weird faces when you break that out.
Every mechanic i've ever seen swears by the stethoscope.
You can even put a screwdriver to your ear to do the same thing.
I’ve been doing it t that way forever
Am a student fresh into plumbing this is very excellent work I'd love to learn more and know how much this equipment costs
Real good info thanks for this
Very informative everyday you learn more and more
Thanks for sharing
My pleasure

Great detective work and finding the leak! Did you make the repair as well?
I put a hose clamp around it and used the local plumber without a callout fee@@RogerWakefield

Do you have to be a plumber to get into leak detection business?
Well, it certainly helps to understand plumbing technology, just like you would want a doctor to do your triple bypass, and not a garbage man.
How many women do this?
Not enough
