  • Let’s step back in time to 1969 as we watch Centennial 6900 and Union Pacific 8444 pull the Golden Spike Centennial Celebration.
Union Pacific 4-8-4 8444 pulled it’s train on May 10th from Salt Lake City to Ogden for the Golden Spike ceremony. Later that day 8444 pulled the train back to Salt Lake City.
The Golden Spike Centennial Limited was Ross Rowland Jr.’s way to connect people with the Railroads of America! On the front of the train were three baggage cars which would be converted into traveling museums to show the railroad’s growth through the years. The crowds enjoyed the train so much that the crew had to keep the display cars open all night at 3 of the 13 stops.
Hope y’all enjoy this look back into history.
