Billy Corganis a hero in the Pro Wrestling world, and deserves all the continued success available, heres hoping the NWA gets a big TV deal and we could have the big three all over again WWE, TNA (WCW) and the NWA (ECW)
IMO Billy had a great start and a golden opportunity when Nick Aldis was champion. He gave a relevancy to the belt and played the part very well. The roster was pretty loaded as you’ll see many of them on AEW now. And As soon as Billy cowered down to the PC police and fired Cornette for saying a harmless joke, it went down hill . I assure you if the joke was about an Irish or Italian guy, there never would have been a problem. I loved the old school atmosphere of the studio look. And just the sound of the ring took me back to those glorious days on TBS at 6:05. If I had purchased what was left of the NWA, the first thing I would have done was try and unite all the independent promotions around the country and get some kind of partnership with any of those companies in Japan. I would try and have all the promotions work together like it was in the good ole days. That’s what the NWA was created for. To protect the members from other promoters infringing on their territories and to help each other out when needed. I know the days of getting syndication for your wrestling programs are gone but you have the internet. Which the possibilities are endless in regard to exposure and advertising. And most important go back to the roots. Distance yourself from that machine which is sports entertainment. Focus on finding and creating great characters and realistic story lines. So maybe us older fans who’ve seen it all can suspend our disbelief and the youngins growing up can actually believe. Sorry for the rant. I’m not saying I have the answers, but if I had the capital Billy Corigan has, that’s what I would have tried.
When you won the NWA world championship you really were a world champion. Rick Flair, Harley Race and Dusty Rhodes. It’s not as big today but if you win the NWA WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP your name is still tied to those legends. Their legacy is now yours and you have carry that on your shoulders. You got some big boots to fill.
When was it the last time you heard in WA without it being Billy Corgan's NWA? It's kinda hard as a fan to care about wrestling. When you're dealing with a bigger leech than Hulk Hogan
He's the last person I could ever imagine being a lover of wrestling. I always thought of him as this this hippie musician soyboy. And it turns out he's such a wrestling fan that he bought a wrestling organization.

@comeonwiththisbs he actually fits with the profile of many guys who were given title runs during the territory era. Terry Funk was hardly an athletic freak and he had a run with the NWA belt. The One Mam Gang was given an opportunity to hold the belt by Watts Look up the Pacifoc Northwest under Don Owen- Billy Jack Haynes was a super face up there. A lot of folks appreciated going outside of the box before the roid era kicked im.
