Hi Owen. Wow great video! I grew up in Durban in the 60's and 70's and left with my wife for Cape Town in 92. Amazing changes. Would love to come back for a holiday.
Thanks Owen, you make me so excited to go to Durban. Can't wait for November myself and hubby are going for wedding anniversary yay! 🙂 Atleast I will know what exactly to do, thanks to you👌
@@OwenSaysGo Well actually it is ruining our plans, we received a decent quote (massive discount) from a hotel nearby and guess what? We can't really decide if we should pay or just cancel due to the Covid19😱. Oh and I wanted to ask you which camera you're using? I'd really like to capture us under the water but I'm not sure which camera we should purchase. Was thinking about the Gopro Hero 7 but hubby suggested to go for something a bit less in terms of price. So ja I need your help pretty please. TIA🙂
Nice video mate! You could definitely do another "10 things to do in Durban". Also venture further afield and check out the Valley of 1000 Hills - just 20 mins from Durban and there's everything from rock climbing to go-karts to horse riding and trail running.
Thanks Shelldon! Yup, I'm thinking next year I will do a '10 more things to do in Durban'! Definitely lots to explore. Will have to include 1000 hills :)
That would make for a great video! Unfortunately I'm no longer living in Durban, someone else will have to do it... Check out Being Bedingfield, they do a lot of Durban area suburb videos :)
This was awesome Owen! Had put together my own list but hey, its in the bin now 😂 You have an amazing spirit also, it comes across in your video. Gonna add a Microlight Flight in Ballito to our list - thank you so much for all the tips!!
I've been to Dbn but #4 at Moses Mabhidha not for me, lol. Great video and very helpful and will expand my to do list as we prepare to go on the 10th Jan. Thanks.
Eish Durbans flooded and wrecked now, can't do anything much but I remember staying at The Palace just before the floods, really awesome since I live in Joburg. Anyone remember Mini Town?
The Quality and color grading of your content Sir. Huge Respect. I've added this on my Playlist. Currently using Sony ZV1... how did you achieve this Christy video. Is it the editing software maybe? Really refreshing to watch this
Thanks Seafarer! As far as colour grading goes I didn't do any on this video - I think its just the wonderful tones of Durban sunlight, plus a lot of it filmed on GoPro which ups saturation I have found. Other footage filmed on Canon EOS70D and DJI Mini I
Hi, thank you for this great video . Our family has been thinking of moving to Durban in a few years. Could you pls tell me about the safety and schools? Since I have got 2 kids of 5 and 10 years. Thank you
Great beard and glasses man, you're so handsome i'm glad you kept panning back to your face, much better than looking at all that boring stuff all around you.
Haha - I haven't done any cage diving, but I've got quite a few scuba diving videos on RUclips, and snorkeling with a whale shark in Mozambique! Have a look at some of my other videos :)
Hey Omphile, tough question - depends on how much you want to do. Lots of fun free things to enjoy on the beachfront but things like the big swing at Moses Mabidha are quite costly. That said its been two or three years since I made this video, so not sure what prices are like now!
🗣OWENNN 🙋🏽♀️ This is such a cool video! I'm going to Durban soon and you just made my itennirary sooooo much more interesting! Thank you for the top ten things to do. 👍🏽 Ps I just realized that I'm a year or two late 😅 since you hit up Durban a long time ago. But hey, it's never too late! Thanks again 👍🏽
Hey there, last I heard it was R695, but looking online it seems that it may no longer be active? Try give them a call at the stadium and check before you head down there... Good luck!
Hey Eszter, like anywhere in South Africa, Durban can be very safe or not so safe depending on where you are in the city and at what time of day. All of the places that I've suggested here would be fine to visit during the day. I wouldn't recommend the Durban beachfront after dark. Umhlanga is generally safer than Durban. Any touristy area should be fine. Have fun and take sensible precautions :)
Hi Tom, I would say Durban is generally safe - I lived there seven years without any issues, but just pay the same attention that you would in any other SA city. Don't flash valuables or leave them in view in your car, don't go out of major tourist areas after dark.
Hey King Ephra, wish I could help! Unfortunately I don't live in Durban any more, so can't really help you with that - have you looked at AirBnBs? Probably some good options there!
Nostalgic--am in USA for 25 years -seeing my birth city through your eyes is simply wonderful -thank you so much
Ah, thanks Suresh! Comments like that make the effort going into the video all worth it :)
"Yebo mAh unjani" a true Zulu man with some power (shirt)

Wow, Durban in 1971 must have looked very different. Joburg also a great place to live :)

I beg to differ on the 'boring stuff all around' me, but I appreciate the compliments on the beard and glasses :D
That was a freaking long jump
And it took like 2 secs omg😂
It's as scary as it looks! :D
Amazing video got me excited about my future plan to visit Durban, you mentioned how much all the rides cost but not the jump at the stadium?
Hey Mweetwa, I think that it is current R695 to jump :)
I subscribed
Thanks Miles! Maybe take a look at my Top 10 Bunny Chows video next :)
I want you to try scuba diving or cage diving.

Regarding the bike hire, what happens if someone doesn't bring back the bike?😅
They keep your drivers license to make sure that you'll come back :D
How much was the jump at Moses Mabida stadium
Hi Wandile, according to the website it is R695 👍
U ddnt do boat cruise 🤔
I didn't! That would have been a good addition :)
How much would your budget need to be to comfortably spend?
