try it with your hands as far as his were
wait i'm a little confused now... you're okay with calling people sensei, but not with calling people master?
@@lightxxatu sensei just means teacher
@@SenseiDavid oh yeah for sure, I respect all teachers, I am one. For reference he told me in another video to stop calling people master, I was just curious why he made a point to call you sensei, but isn’t okay with terms like master
@@lightxxatu I feel weird saying master also, For example I say Shihan (Senior Instructor) or Kyoshi (Expert), which are similar meanings but...I dont like calling anyone master...
The baby throwing the board " Hiiyahh" pure adorable
That's what we look like to her
I still don’t get how he did that... since I got home, I could build 72 birdhouses with all of my failed attempts
I've gone through the footage trying to see if he went off somewhere and gimmicked it.
@@hard2hurt he must’ve...
@@hard2hurt He had the stunt board hidden at his lower back, switched it just before the strike. Check the slomo of the video, you'll see...not. That was some impressive sh*t.
The gimmick is relaxation and precision o and to believe you can do it!! This was the most random thing we did but fun!!
@@SenseiDavid that was cool sensei
"WE GET IT, WE'RE TRYING TO RELAX"
Legit my brain when I tell myself to relax
Sensei David has my respect for that board break that was some old master on the mountain shit
Thank you sir! now snatch the pebble from my hand grasshopper!
@@SenseiDavid " stop trying to hit me and hit me ! " 🤣😂🤣👍
"Nothing in this video is street effective." I just found my favorite Icy Mike quote.
Channeling master wong right there
What about my roundhouse kick?!
Imagine getting attacked by plank from ed edd n eddy
@@TJ-fd9iw plank is not as brittle as these pieces of wood, Plank is aged and sturdy 🤣
*Well, maybe some of it.
Imagine this, you put your hand on the person's face in an endearing way. You look them in the eye. THEN WHAPPA, broken jaw...
Broken head
2:50 call a priest
3:57 every time someone say that you should relax, that's your brain natural response hahah
Love the video and what you all do. For anyone who questions the integrity of the boards, I’m sure they are real. However, they are cut from the center of the tree so the “pith” runs right down the middle. This is the weakest point. It’s tough to find boards that wide that aren’t cut from the center of threes since they only grow lumber trees for a relatively short amount of time so they don’t ever get that big. It would be interesting to see the difference on boards that weren’t taken from the center of the tree. Just sharing my knowledge on wood, not throwing shade. That’s the trees job. ;)
That 1 inch break was awesome. Sensei David can do the exploding heart technique right? He actually knows the ninja secrets you see in the advertisements from black belt magazine.
yes studied the whole ninja book! great bathroom reading material : p
He cocked back his strike about an inch or 2 more than the other guys.
@@luckylarry3090 for what the wrist break.?
@@SenseiDavid Yeah you can see it in the shlomo you brought it back at least a half inch if not more. Still a cool technique though.
@@luckylarry3090 Right ...I see what you mean...from my experiencia that doesn't make a difference for the type of break...this type of break doesn't work based on power...its a flick of the wrist and energy is concentrated on a very small spot on the hand, It only works for me when im totally relaxed vs trying to power through it!,...when it works. The board pops up into the air like you saw it..vs flying across the room and smack a child on the head :P
@3:13 Neature walk 😂
Marvin brake one with your jab.
Coach man! I just got out of the gym, practicing some of your tips on the lead hook--cock it with the hips instead of the upper body!
I didn't get it. He said people would so i left it lol.
collab when? collab now!
I love reaction of all in moment of 1st wrist hit. Priceless.
I remember the first time my 10-year-old daughter (at the time) broke her first board with a straight right hand. The look of amazement on her face was the most priceless thing I have ever seen.
Lol that intro, mike you have good friends man 😂
Somewhere in the clouds, some dude is probably saying "boards...don't hit back"
Wouldn't a board technically be hitting you as hard as you hit it?
But the board DID hit me back, and luckily for Sensei David, I saved him from being hit back too
@@seansnyder2855 Newton's Third Law...you have a point.🤔
@@SenseiSeth or you hit the board twice. Big Toe Knuckle two hit combo😅
@@SenseiSeth I noticed you had hurt your hand holding the boards a couple of times during the video. The things you do for your friends!
This is the summer karate montage we all needed. Only in December xD
😂😂
This guy is the true Og I learnt the Nunchaku from his videos.
thanks for the support!
My favorite self defense/ kicking ass RUclips channel
I learned to do that break as a teenager as well from my Hapkido instructor. It takes some practice, but it's basically like creating a wave from your hips to shoulder and down your arm and then quickly tensing your hand right at the end, right as your rotate it as fast as possible. It isn't much different the standing in front of a show curtain, staying relaxed to make it pop fast with your straights but NOT ripping the curtain. I've always liked the concept, because its a tool to show the difference between over-extending/pushing and having a fast twisting pop in your strikes.
Yes! That's a Great example. Its a quick pop
I've never seen anyone break with a Muay Thai style knee strike (to the body, the head, flying etc). I'd like to see those tested.
we will do a follow up video!! muay thai board breaking
I think thais kick down trees instead, I think there´s a video of Buakaw legkicking a banana tree to death somewhere on youtube.
@@SenseiDavid Thank you!!
@@MajorRoy You are correct, but not with knee strikes. I think pine boards are a safe first step to try knees.
Sensei David is the most efficient power delivery system ever. I've never seen anything like it, and I would know, I watched all the Youtubz! 😅
thanks
I gotta try that break! Great vid guys!
We need a montage of everytime a guest does something that surprises/impresses Mike.
Dude! BANGING outro music!!
Amazing Sensei David!!!
Perfect combination of relaxed hips and LEG MOSSEL!!!
Board breaking is just a confidence builder - and for fun, love the disclaimer at the start
Nice job with the short break, I've seen that done but have never tried it.
Icy is the best...no bs straight to the point "nothing in this video is street effective" quote of 2020
Been breaking for 6 years now. Tried this for my 6th GUP Hapkido test this past week. Was successful and surprised myself.
You guys were really hamming it up with those chops
Yes I’ll be here until 5 o’clock
Challenge accepted...
This is soo cool!! I've seen and done the throw up in the air and speed plam break, but not holding my self from that close..
I must try this!!!!!!
Cool thing is that I understand what your friend did with the board. I don't know if I can replicate but I understand what he did there, really cool technique. I imagine people in the old days with no TV or Facebook thinking, "ok, how can we break shit more easily?"
It's called small joint torque (the wrist here), that's how he snapped the board so impressively. If one develops this "torque" with much practice all their strikes will a little extra explosion to them. Allows one not to wind-up punches and still have knock out power.
yes, what he said!
This was a good fun video
David was cocking his strike a bit more than everyone else.
your referring to the jab? I actually did feel that but also realized that but my knuckles were already feeling it so gave the break a rest.
That chop break is pretty cool.
I like to punch cardboard boxes at work. The kind that are used to carry products, with the tape on the bottom. Different products have different types of boxes and taped differently too. So it's I'd have to figure out what kind if force is needed to break the tape. And always 1 of 3-4 outcomes. Very fun.
One of my black belt stripe tests we had to do the chop while holding the board. There is a trick to it, but I’ve done a lot of these. It’s fun to play around with breaks.
New outro music? I like it!
So many Senseis in one video!
Amazing skills!
I bet even Chuck Norris is impressed!
😂🙏
"Do you think that you could chop a wooden board in half like that?"
Mr Miyagi voice: Hmm, don't know. Never been attacked by board!
That double leg break is my next degree break for TSD! 👀
I immediately recognized that as the Edon break kick.. dang icy Mike!
I will try it
Hate how much I love your channel as you create great content, but where thag Sensei David channel be at dough?
"WE GET IT WE'RE TRYING TO RELAX!!!!"
I think I just found my favorite ASMR sound clip
Shit like this is why people believe in Ki. Absolutely amazing board break.
That was cool.
Damn that flying side kick thoooo
I don't know what you're talking about.
Static chop First try on an orange rebreakable, green would be different lol
Jump split, old news for Taekwondo.
But fun video, the speed side kick break was best.
🙏🙏🙏 underrated kick for aure
In the wise words of Sensei Seth: “You can tell because of the way that it is”
Crazy what 'sensei 'david did with those small peace of wood
Now I want to try it! What kinda wood is that and how thick? If I figure out how to break a board with that one inch chop I'll link a vid. (fat chance though, I have zero experience in that board stuff)
Pine, 1"
Those "speed breaks" hurt when ya fuck up lol
Awesome
Go sensei David.
thank you sir!
Need to do the flying side kick punch break
Cool video
I like this type of video,
Good gigles btw
Sensei Seth is too cool for school buddy 😎
😎😂
David pulls his hand at least 2-3 hand lengths back before striking, Mike and Seth are remaining strict and not leaving the board.
So..for this type of break that doesn't make a difference...its 100% speed and energy hitting a specific spot. it actually doesn't work when you try to power through it.
@@SenseiDavid So more distance doesn't allow you to build up speed and energy?
@@NicholasGS it does but if you do enough speed breaks...you can start to understand why its not exactly how it works...so because the board has no real support speed is more important. I've tried to power it and failed. For example when I balanced it on the tripod it has no counter weight on the edges. if you power it...you just kind of push the board...its speed and the direction of the strike. maybe Ill make a Video on just this break!...you just have to try it!! Sensei Seth and Icy Mike..were trying to use strength ...I'm sure they will figure out the body mechanics after more practice.
“Nothing in this video is street effective”
Not literally. But in principal you can learn something to practice that can translate to a street fight
You got the best martial arts show out there but boards are pretty easy to break and I know cuz I broke some boards but what I like to see you do is break a 4x4 with a hammer fist
boards are for fun and I agree they can be easy depending on how you do it hmmm 4x4 headed to lowe’s!
Sensei David, wow. Just...wow...I think I know how he did it, but that doesn't mean I could!
thanks... there is no secret just stay relaxed and strike with precision
Sensei Seth quoting the neature walk. I still think about that video.
Haha glad someone caught that!
Finding weapons in bathrooms next pls
I’m very confused on what’s happening here lol
Denny's bathroom? Air freshener cartridge. Gas station? Look for a plunger or roach spray.
Board not hit back 🤣 Only playing great video looks like a lot of fun
That one seemed to hit back against Sensei Seth's toe. 😅
@@tacticaltemplar875 so maybe they do hit back 🤔😂

Hey, I'm 15 and I want to compete someday in mma and try to go pro. My mma gym is very small there is about 3 to 4 people there a day and sometimes I'm the only one there with my coach. It's only open 4 days a week for 2.5 hours a day. I dont think this is enough training for what I want to accomplish. Ive been training for 3 months. The next closest gym is about 40 minutes away and I can't drive myself there. What should i do?
you have a Gym and a Coach!...so your on your way. Just train on your own and go over what your coach tells you again and again!
One on one training with the coach for an entire session? That sounds amazing. You should get lots of great drilling in, and lots of guidance. For sparring and variety of opponent, try to make a trip out to another gym ocassionally.
Fun (nerdy!) Fact: That little bone at the bottom of your palm is called the pisiform. It's one of the bones that chiropractors use for manipulations.
That’s pretty cool!
Then I Pisiformed that Board!!
@00:15 now THAT was funny!!!
Is it something like *the CST method* ???
I mean master Chu Shong Tin's..
Let's see it done with a piece of oak mahogany teak etc
Wow that looks hard especially when it breaks on the join all the time and the join is right in the centre of the board. Oh and one more thing as the main man said boards don't hit back 🤣
Except sensei Seth...did get Hit back!
The 3 muskickteers
5:40 proof that boards do fight back.
nice
People are going to think this was gimmicked.
No...[Smells the board]
01:40 Good that you showed the actual reality of the fact that no matter how well you are trained, punching Wood can still hurt your hand a bit. Lol
my knuckles are still bruises up
@hard2hurt I trained at your gym several months ago and I remember you recommending Venum as a good brand for shin guards. Is there a particular model that you recommend over others? I've seen some stuff online about the Venum - Challenger Standup model being good for beginners and was thinking I'd go with that. Would love to get your thoughts (and anyone else's). Also would be ecstatic to get some promo codes as well!
good to hear from you man, venum elite standup shin guards are our favorite
@@hard2hurt Appreciate the reply and thanks for the info! Another random question and food for thought - Based on your experience, is it worth considering whether the color of the shin guards will make my kicks more obvious? For example, would it be easier to see and evade a kick if the person who is kicking at you has brightly colored shin guards? Or does it make no difference?
I do not know much about processed wood (still too young); what were those dark lines in the middle of the boards?
That's where we rigged them up to break easier.
@@hard2hurt oh. Ha I thought it was from the machine/press or something when they are processing the wood.
How do you do that? Heat or moisture?
I was joking. Nobody does anything to them. They are that color because thays what color the inside of the tree was.
@@hard2hurt oh ha. Got me
THE ONE INCH KARATE CHOP
sensei david is into them dark arts, that was straight sorcery
Agreed. I still don't get it.
Interesting..
He broke that board on a sap line in the wood. Try it with a oak clean lined board. Please
Haha Awesome!

10 Ways to Defend yourself with Toilet paper!
In the Immortal words of Bruce Lee......"Boards don't hit back!"
true but sensei seth got hit by his board!!!
That first statement is spot on.
We would goof around fairly regularly and have everyone laughing their asses off, and then you could get back to more serious training.
If people aren't having fun and bonding, they don't keep coming.
It also means that when you do stuff that has a risk of injuries people are looking out for training partners because they're mates.
That kid was hilariously cute
Eeeeeeyaaaa *pause and watch*
Eeeeeeyaaaa
That's what we look like to her lol
What a bunch of liars. I don't think that anyone in the whole video was even wearing a belt, much less breaking boards with 2 of them. =O
What if...they broke a board, with another board? 😲
I wear mine under my clothes at all times
Yea i took mine off to increase my hand speed!
@@SenseiDavid Stupid me! I forgot that you hands are faster than the human eye can see. lol
The best way to test low kicks with breaking is to use the kyokushin method: baseball bats.
Kyokushin isn't unique in that. Uechi Ryu and Goju Ryu both do breaking (which makes sense, since they're deeply related), and surprise surprise, Mas Oyama studied Goju Ryu.
I will NEVER get board of these videos
sorry, i’ll see my self out..
Ugh... gimme a break.
@@hard2hurt i wood if i could, Mike...
I pine for the days of a good pun thread
I just... I'm actually so confused. It can't be a gimmick because the board goes absolutely flying but I barely see anything. That's honestly super cool.
Talking about David's break? Yeah i can't fathom it.
Any one can break boards it's the grain that counts
anyone can break the bond of glue
